Born October 27, 1878, in New York City. Time of Reading 3:15 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: (Going back from present year - "1937 - '36 - '35 - '34 - Changes - and anger - '33 - 1905 - What an interesting life! - " and so on until reaching birth date, [...] "Not so secure, but much better in [1402]!.") [GD's note: Evidently referring to choice of name currently used.]

2. We have the records that have been made by this entity now called [1402].

3. In summing the records here, from that which has been made, these are as the Book of Remembrance; these are the book of life.

4. Life is that influence, that which is manifested in materiality as expressing growth, love, hate, disappointments, sorrows, hopes, courage, faith; and those things that take hold upon the soul, that which is the everlasting.

5. And this book is written upon the skein of that ye call time and space.

6. These exist - each of these - only in the finite mind as that which represents the separation of the various growths or experiences.

7. For this entity is to deal with things that influence people, that influence others; and as it influences them, to aid them in the better understanding of themselves as related to things and as to how to deal with others.

8. One that is very high in energy, or an energetic, determined entity and individual; and in whatsoever its hands find to do, of that it may make a success - if it will hold to that which is continuously constructive in the experiences of those whom the entity contacts, and must - because of the very nature of its interests in things and conditions of people - depend upon same not only for the material but the social order of things that make for the

1402-1 Page 2

relationships of individuals and groups as one to another.

9. Yet with its determination, as is seen or interpreted from those experiences in the earth, as well as the interims between, whether the entity is in a stable, a hovel, in one room or many, it would make of same a home, or a livable place. This is innate.

10. Hence we find an orderly life experience in the present, yet many of those experiences where peoples or individuals have disrupted this orderliness in the experience.

11. And hence, as has been indicated, by those indications seen through the experience of the entity in the present sojourn, there have been periods when - with the high temper, with the strong will - those conditions have been created where these have become disconcerting, discouraging, disappointing to the entity.

12. So, it is to learn, then, that which is as a portion of life - as would be noted that was not named as to what Life is in a manifested form, in this experience - the lesson of patience - PATIENCE!

13. Hence the more oft there is the humbling of the spirit that there may be the better hold, a better understanding gained. For know, as He has given, that is the light of the world, that is the hope of the world, that is the saving grace - yea, thy Brother, as He has given - "In patience, my children, ye possess thy souls; ye become aware of thy souls!"

14. And in this awareness there comes the comprehending, the understanding that all life IS one, all conditions then are relative as one to another.

15. Hence again, to the entity in this experience in dealing in things that influence the lives of peoples - as odors, as cosmetics, as flowers, as those things that, as it were, arouse the depth of the thinking; or again it may be said, to make that union of expression of the mind; the mind of the body and the mind of the soul - that are one, yet may be so far apart, as may be illustrated in that variation the entity has experienced in individuals in a varying mood - as ye would term.

16. It is rather that one is the expression of the ego, the other the expression of the I AM that lives on!

17. Hence these become as the portion of the entity's experience in the present:

18. And in the application, study self. Be humble, but not timid; be positive, but not in that determination of rule or ruin. But rather in that as was given - mercy, justice, patience, love, longsuffering, brotherly kindness, and forgetting those things that easily beset one in grudges or

1402-1 Page 3

hatreds or hard feelings - but rather study others.

19. For thy work is in directing individuals as to how THINGS influence them in their life's work, their life's efforts, their life's hopes; and how to meet disappointments, how to meet sorrows.

20. For shadows and sorrows, disappointments, pass; for hope springs ever anew within the human breast. For HOPE is taking hold upon the soul that is from everlasting to everlasting!

21. For what is WAS, and ever will be; so far as the spirit, the life, the soul is concerned - even of things.

22. In the astrological aspects we find those very conditions that have been indicated from the experiences have been manifested. For not only has the entity lived and does live in this experience but has lived and does live in many of the material experiences of the entity in the earth. Thus no wonder confusion comes, unless there is held to the one mighty purpose - LOVE DIVINE that so overshadows all else as to be that alone that makes an experience in the earth worth while; even though the entity has experienced those periods when so much shadow has made it not worth while. And only the will has carried it on, because of that hope which has sprung anew.

23. DO NOT let things RULE, but give them - as to self, as to others - their proper sphere, their proper place, in the experience of others.

24. For odors ARE necessary, else would they have been given to the rose, to the violet, to the lilac, to the clover, to those things that show the beauty of a loving heavenly Father!

25. Then they have their place.

26. The entity's activity through that sphere of Venus has made for its ability to attract almost any individual it chooses to make its friend. For as the activity of the influence from Venus makes for those influences, so oft has the attraction to individuals and to things drawn the entity to itself's own wonderment and to itself's own disconcerting even at times.

27. This is the ruling force. Hence the manifesting in the daily activity of the love divine rather than sensual or material or the love of things; but the love of conditions that things may bring - there is a variation - study same.

28. Also as we find in Mercury, in Jupiter, there are those influences that make for the dealings with the higher forces; for the essence of an element, the essence of friendship, the essence of love, is much stronger than that as may be handled with the hands or seen even by the eye.

1402-1 Page 4

Though the entity may control, do these not for self but for the soul and souls of those the entity would direct, attract, or aid.

29. These forces, then, as has been indicated, are influences.

30. It depends upon what one does with same as to whether such forces become detrimental or constructive in material experience.

31. For as a force is manifested first in spirit, then in mind, know that - as for materiality, as for that which becomes expressed either in matter or in mind - Mind is the Builder, ever.

32. As to the appearances in the earth, these we find quite varied in their influence in the present experience.

33. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present birth, during those periods when there were those settlings in the land, and the first of the changes that were made in the political and in the economical conditions of New York; when the English rather than the Dutch ruled.

34. Then in the name Emily Carllton, the entity made for much of the social, much of not merely caste but rather class; but not as caste or class in the present would indicate. Rather that it was necessary for homes, the city, the peoples, to create in their surroundings, environs, or things that would make for thinking in better terms.

35. For, as the illustration to the entity, and as the entity used in the experience: To separate the stable or the barn from the house made in its experience and its very separation a differentiation in the thoughts, the minds of people.

36. This was among the very things that the entity brought about among those peoples, that had kept things so close that they became as a part of them in their daily lives.

37. These are a part and parcel, but as the entity experienced then - there are the needs of such surroundings, such beauties, such experiences, such activities - these the entity found and experienced as being worth while in the experiences of self, in the experiences of others.

38. In the present from that experience, many oft are the conditions that are spoken of in the experiences of others as related to things of old, things unseen, things unheard, songs unsung, that the entity catches as it were the latent influence from within as to how these things influence those individuals.

39. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Promised Land, during those periods when the Master walked in the earth; and among those peoples that were

1402-1 Page 5

influenced by those activities in that period was the entity's activity.

40. Though the entity was of those ruling powers or forces, its days, its associations, its conditions were bound with those peoples in that land.

41. When those periods arose when there were the persecutions and questionings as to whether that proclaimed by the fisherfolk, or that proclaimed by those in power or in authority, was to become the rule of the peoples, the entity was drawn between two influences, two forces.

42. And again that as has been given as a lesson: Learn - as was experienced there, as must be learned in the present - humbleness and patience. Not that the entity didn't gain mentally, not that the entity didn't build in its soul's experience, but you were neither hot nor cold! And the lesson from that experience has made much of that energy, much of that enthusiasm, much of that determination.

43. But know again, it must be guided aright. He without an ideal is sorry indeed; he with an ideal and lacking courage to live it is sorrier still.

44. Know that.

45. The name then was Josie, and the entity was of the household of those who made for the questionings at the trial of the Master; for it was of the household of one of the Sanhedrin - he who cared for the Body when the burial time came; Nicodemus.

46. In that experience from that sojourn, many are the emotions that arise from the experiences - as may be had by the entity in those associations with those who become overenthusiastic about their religious fervor.

47. And again things, conditions, become a part.

48. But remember that rule as given; he without an ideal is sorry indeed, but he without courage - though with an ideal - is sorrier still.

49. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the desert or Gobi land.

50. There the entity was in authority; yes, among the princesses of the land; and then, again, in this experience, things and their relationships in their proper sphere may bring material wealth, material gain into the experience of the entity in this sojourn.

51. Use it aright.

52. For in the Temple of Gold - that may be yet uncovered - did the entity minister to the needs of the peoples, in numbers, in ointments, in lotions, in odors, and in those things that became in so many lands a part of the temple and the altar worship.

1402-1 Page 6

53. Hence those things again as of home. For the entity made for that as brought conveniences for the young mothers, the old men, the mothers that were beyond those periods of supplying much of the material personal gratifications in associations.

54. Hence things pertaining to these have been and are a part of the entity's experience; for as given, the entity lives many lives, even in the present. Not that they are those things hid, but rather they are the experiences of the entity.

55. These are not all, but these are they that influence in the present.

56. Then, what may the entity do with and about these in the present?

57. Hold fast to those tenets that ye doubted oft. Know that Nicodemus WAS right; He had, He HAS, He IS the words of Life; He is the Word that maketh all things anew!

58. For as He gave, "Taking my yoke upon you, ye learn of me; for my yoke is easy, my burden is light," to those that love His ways.

59. As to the experiences of the material associations, things and their relative relationship to individuals are thy material work.

60. Friendships ye can make wherever, whenever ye choose. From that same experience in the Gobi, there are the abilities to write, the abilities to influence by the writing.

61. For many were the messages that were sent to others.

62. Hence it is well in thy formulas, in thy messages, to WRITE; for these reach those that may not hear the spoken word. Though ye be gifted in thy speech, these reach far beyond. For, written, they may live on and on!

63. Ready for questions.

64. (Q) What can I do to make my work more efficient and productive? (A) This we find has been covered. Make it more in that way of being and filling that place relative in the activities of individuals. It is as has been given; things do not impel, but things make for building by growth - if they are used properly. Hence, as ye can, as it were in a hypnotic manner, draw people to thee, USE that power, that influence - not for gain, not for self-indulgence, not for self-aggrandizing, but for ALL GOOD. Thus ye make those ye meet, the way ye pass, brighter, more hopeful. Give that as is constructive, and know the way

1402-1 Page 7

lieth only in Him.

65. (Q) Am I capable of doing constructive work on the correlation of numbers and Astrology? In this connection what can I do to give myself a firmer foundation and more light? (A) In numbers, ye have the proper key. In Astrology studies, take the Persian rather than the Indian or Egyptian; and ye will find that those of the Arabic are coordinant with the Numerology or numbers. The Persian - and there are just new books that have been published on same.

66. (Q) In which way will my work be more valuable - through emphasis on writing or through personal interviews? (A) As has been given, more and more to the writing will it come. For this lives on and on. Not that interviews are to be discontinued. For know, as ye give ye gain. Only as ye give do ye gain. No one so sorry, no one so much in despair that as ye help them they do not give thee an example and the help to help others.

67. (Q) What are my present errors in conducting my personal life and my work? (A) As has been indicated, a little more patient, a little more tolerant, a little more humble. But, as has been indicated, not a tolerance that becomes timid - this would make rebellion in self. Not a patience that is not positive. Not an humbleness that becomes morbid or lacking in beauty. For as orderliness is a part of thy being, so let consistency - as persistency - be a part of thy being.

68. (Q) Is there a real future for my work in contributions to magazines? (A) That as may be builded by this correlation, as has been indicated, may find its place in the better magazines; as well as in books that may become textbooks to others, as well as guides to those. For the world is seeking the signs, and seeking the things, and seeking the ways to know. For unless thy numerology may lead in the same direction as the star of Astrology led the Wise to Bethlehem, ye stumble in thy way. For know it was true that the days were numbered, yea, His star had risen - and these were one; and they become again, as they ever were and ever will be, those things that show, that lead, the way.

69. (Q) Any special publications that you would recommend? (A) These as the papers, as the manuscripts are prepared,

1402-1 Page 8

will show the way. Do the first things first. More and more of such data are being sought. Prepare same, and then the way and the manner, the place will be shown, will be given thee.

70. (Q) Please explain my past associations with Doctor [1397] born May 20, 1879, as the urges affect my life today. (A) These contacts, as has been given, and as may be seen, have touched here and there; some for good, some for not so well, some for much better. As in the days of those activities in this present land, as in the Gobi land when the entity directed and led the way for that friend, that associate. Hence there come many ways, many manners in which each may encourage the other. As to their paths crossing, rather may they be said to be parallel, with each in their own sphere yet each encouraging the other.

71. (Q) Am I right in encouraging her to give up her East Orange practice as soon as possible and concentrate on New York? (A) Not only practical but so much better for all.

72. (Q) Can I be helpful in her proposed venture in the face rejuvenation business and what success is indicated for it? (A) As has just been indicated, and as has been given through the experiences of the entity, these may become more and more parallel; and these as we find offer a channel through which greater expression of each may find an outlet. Not only for good to others but material gains for all.

73. (Q) Will my specialty eventually be in medical Astrology and numbers or is there some other angle of stars and numbers more suitable for me? (A) As we find, it eventually will be rather in the writing, the counselling, the directing. That these partake of the physical as well as the spiritual is to be expected. Do not confuse others, do not confuse self, but in those studies as indicated - and remember, have the ideal and know it is in Him. Have the courage to do and dare, and have the courage to keep that first and foremost. For what is the gain to have found fame and fortune, to have found self-glory? When the rains of disappointment come there is no ground for faith or hope unless it be in Him. For His yoke is easy, if His grace and mercy is thine - and this ye obtain only by showing others the way to same!
