At the home of [...] Time of Reading along highway near 3:55 to 4:20 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. C.C.C. Camp, Bethany, Missouri. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: We have the body here, [1419]; this we have had before.
2. As we find, conditions are somewhat improved. These, then, are the conditions physically as we find them in the present:
3. In the blood supply we find this very low in resistance, especially in the red blood supply; while the white and the warriors show some little improvement, through the abilities of the system to discharge or throw off poisons or refusal forces that are natural conditions of a depleted system.
4. The nervous system we find somewhat improved, though those pressures from the secondary cardiac ganglia to the lower portion of the stomach, to the duodenum and the entrance of same through those to the jejunum, still show an irritation.
5. Hence we will find it necessary to repeat some of those things that have been indicated.
6. We also find in the caecum area the inclinations for the dilation, thus forming the basis as well as the inflammatory condition; though we do not find ulcerations - but the inflammatory condition and the choking of the lower end of both the stomach (that is, to the duodenum) and those areas through which there is greater formation or activity of the lacteal ducts; causing the inclination for gas, as well as the lack of the assimilation of foods or properties taken into the stomach.
7. Hence the weakness, the depleting in the blood supply, and the general debilitation.
8. The prolapsus needs to be cared for; that is, in the stomach itself; by the natural position; that is, of keeping the body - when reclining - with the inclinations for the lower limbs to be higher and the upper portion of the body
1419-2 Page 2
lower. Especially during those periods when treatments or manipulations are given for the nerve pressures, for the supplying of impulses to the activity of the gastrointestinal system through the upper dorsal and through the cervical area, the position of the body such as to relieve the pressures; and a band as to be in keeping when the body's activities are upon the feet, until there are better conditions in the body.
9. These as we find are conditions in the present.
10. As to applications in the present; we would then give:
11. At least twice a day have periods of applying three or four (in a series) of the grape poultices; preferably the Concord variety - because of the activities of these upon the body. Not only is there the absorption of the juices of same, but there is the carrying of the acids that act with the digestive forces. Also there is the absorption of same in the areas of the lacteal ducts from which the body gains food supply - which is strengthening to the body.
12. We would also find that a gentle massage, very gentle, with Olive Oil, will be most beneficial; all that the body will absorb - but after there is the cleansing of the body from the use of the grape poultice. Be sure that the Olive Oil is massaged not only over the whole of the abdomen but especially across the small of the back and the limbs also.
13. The continued use of the properties indicated for the digestive forces of the stomach will prove to be helpful; that is, the Lime, Cinnamon Water and the bromides as indicated.
14. The use of the Radio-Active Appliance will strengthen the body as for the circulation and prevent localizations in areas that are affected by the inflammatory conditions. Use each day, preferably in the afternoon when the body becomes somewhat restless; say between three-thirty and four o'clock, and for a period of thirty minutes. Then if it is necessary in the evening or early morning, use again for the same period.
15. Manipulations osteopathically should be kept, and especially in the areas indicated.
16. A small quantity of grape juice, fresh, will be found to be most helpful. Also liver juice - this, of course, broiled and then pressed. This is preferable to the prepared preparations of same.
17. A little later we will find beef juice will be most helpful.
18. When these are able to be taken, a teaspoonful should be a full meal, but should be sipped rather than taken very much at the time. Whole wheat wafers may be taken with
1419-2 Page 3
same, but masticated very thoroughly and not a great deal of same at any one time.
19. These as we find should, within a week to ten days, show a most decided condition of improvement - if these are followed.
20. The massages of the Olive Oil over the abdomen and especially across the lower portion of the spine would be given very gently, following the poultices.
21. The poultices would be taken for periods of an hour to two hours every day or so, or whenever there is the inclination for pain or a weakness.
22. Give enemas occasionally, but not too much - and do not use high enemas. Have the water body temperature, and a saline solution - saline-soda solution. To the quart and a half of water, body temperature, add a level teaspoonful of table salt and half a level teaspoonful of baking soda, dissolved thoroughly. Use in a Fountain Syringe, with only a very small applicator for the injection.
23. Ready for questions.
24. (Q) Can Concord grapes be obtained now in St. Joseph, Mo., or Kansas City, Mo.? (A) In Kansas City or St. Joseph - either one.
25. (Q) What kind of beef juice should be given? (A) That made fresh every day. This is made by taking only lean meats; preferably the round steak; diced about half an inch, no fat. This put in a glass jar without water. Put the jar into water, preferably with cloth around same, and let boil for at least two to three to four hours. Then drain off. Do not press the meat too much.
26. (Q) What kind of liver should be used, and how prepared? (A) Calves' liver, preferably. This should be broiled. Then pressed, or ground and pressed - but broiled before - and only the juice of this taken.
27. (Q) Broiled about how long? (A) Broiled about three to four minutes. This just sufficient for it to be heated or cooked through, you see; so that the taste does not become offensive to the body in taking. It would be MOST preferable, to be sure, if the body were able to take same raw - but this to the body under the conditions would be very disagreeable.
28. (Q) How long before the liver juice and beef juice should be begun? (A) We would begin a little of it as soon as it is possible for the body to take it!
29. (Q) Are there ulcers in the stomach or intestines? (A) WE find, as has been indicated, rather an inflammatory condition of the openings into the duodenum, and into the
1419-2 Page 4
jejunum. This is why there are the inclinations for the variations of the pains and weakness felt through the body.
30. (Q) Local physician thinks opening between stomach and intestines should be enlarged by surgical operation. Is such an operation advisable? (A) Not advisable unless there is a great deal more inflammation and temperature from the condition. And if the enemas and the poultices and the rubs are used, we would not find such measures necessary.
31. (Q) If gas should accumulate in the stomach or intestines, can anything be done to remove the gas or counteract its effect? (A) As has been indicated, the enemas.
32. (Q) If the body should sustain another severe stomach pain and sinking spell can anything be done to afford relief? (A) The deeper manipulations in the areas that tend to dilate the stomach evacuating portion; or in the secondary cardiac plexus as combined with the upper portion of the 9th dorsal plexus - which act coordinantly with the activities of these areas.
33. (Q) Would hot water mixed with lemon juice and salt be good for this body to drink when arising in the morning? (A) Excellent.
34. (Q) Were the grape poultices properly applied? (A) Properly applied but will be more effective with the Concord grapes. Make 'em a little bit thicker.
35. (Q) Is the osteopath giving the manipulations in such manner as to produce the best results? (A) Osteopath is very good, but coordinate the suggestions with the conditions as are found; and it will be found that if there is the sinking or weakness, the pressures upon the cerebrospinal system at the 2nd and 3rd dorsal and between the 8th and 9th dorsal will bring almost immediate relief. Try it!
36. (Q) How often should osteopathic treatments be given? (A) Every other day, at least; and if there is a weakness, gentle treatments may be given every day.
37. (Q) Doctor thinks body is suffering from Ptosis of stomach [Enteroptosis (intestines:prolapsus); Glenard's disease]. Is this correct? (A) As has been indicated, there is the tendency and inclination; and this forms a portion of the disturbance. The inflammation in the areas indicated being the basis, however, of the condition. The position of the stomach and the intestines is only contributory, and of course produces a great deal of contributory causes owing to the inability of dilating of the areas with foods.
1419-2 Page 5
38. (Q) Is the heart alright? (A) As we find, the circulation as indicated is very good; only low in resistance or red blood cells in the present. And the juices as indicated, with the properties combined in the rubs, should build this up; especially with the aid of the vibrations of the body producing better circulatory forces through the vibratory forces in the body - by the use of the Appliance.
39. (Q) Are the lungs sound? (A) With the general debilitation, there are the natural inclinations - but organically very good.
40. (Q) Any further suggestions? (A) Do these and as we have indicated we should soon see a vast deal of improvement. And then the activities to be consistent with the weakness, with the easily upset digestion, should be kept in accord with general conditions. Should there arise greater distresses, then the inclinations would be for inflammation - but these should make for such improvements that two to three weeks would be soon or sufficient time for the changes for the improved condition to be outlined for activities at that time. Do then as has been indicated.
