1. GC: You will have before you the material mind and body of [1497], whose place of business is at Room ..., ... Ave., New York City, and who is now at the Union League Club on E. 37th St. and Park Ave., N.Y., his activities, associations and associates, and who desires help, information and advice for his guidance from these sources. The following describes conditions on which questions to be asked are based: Regarding the development of a Static Eliminator Tube as previously taken up with these sources, two lots of sample tubes have been constructed and experiments made under the body's direction, and are now being conducted regularly by Arthur Szumski, Radio Engineer at his home, Apt. 9-C, 1201 Shakespeare Ave., Bronx County, New York City - where the apparatus, tubes and coils are under construction and test. The phenomena obtained in the efforts to produce the results indicated can be observed. Tests show much progress. Because of an apparent error on this body's part, a single instead of a double anode was incorporated in the first lot of tubes - and, through a misunderstanding on the part of the tube company, the disc circuit was placed in parallel with the cathode circuit instead of in series with same, as originally planned. This necessitated using two tubes in the first experiments tried from which FAVORABLE results have been indicated. The second lot of tubes have two anodes each and with disc portions in series with the cathodes. Assuming that the measures now being taken, for shielding the radio receiver to prevent static noise from entering the receiver between the same and the new eliminator stage, will further reduce the already greatly reduced static noise from the loud speaker, please answer the following questions:-)

and those tests - together with those conditions which exist respecting same.
3. As we find, if those tests are made in line with the suggestions which have been outlined, these should continue to show greater improvements in carrying forward that purpose which has been indicated should be obtained by this.
4. Ready for questions.
5. (Q) Will a single tube of the second lot of tubes now be adequate instead of two tubes in the static eliminator stage? (A) It should be, if there are two of the lines as has been indicated is necessary.
6. (Q) Is the circuit of coils and connections now employed the proper one for perfect results? (A) There may be some little adjustments with this. Balls on portions of the coils in certain phases of same - these brass or copper, of course; but these are in line with that as necessary.
7. (Q) Should the wires running through the discs be preferably in PARALLEL with the cathode wires as in the first lot of tubes, or in SERIES with the cathode wires, as originally planned and as now arranged in the second lot of tubes? (A) These as arranged in the second, as we find, are preferable.
8. (Q) Should the double antenna arrangement now employed be more satisfactory than a single antenna and ground? (A) This will be more satisfactory.
9. (Q) Is it necessary to employ the present so-called "Bucking Coils" in the disc circuits to cancel out the static impulses, or may they be taken out of the circuits? (A) Taken out of the circuits if they are used with the balls as indicated.
10. (Q) Should the two "Bucking Coils," one for each disc assembly, be connected in a BALANCED circuit to ground? (A) In the balanced circuit.
11. (Q) Should the "Bucking Coil" and disc circuit FROM one antenna be connected to its opposing antenna, and the other disc circuit in reverse relationship, preferably to the balanced ground connection? (A) This will necessarily need, here, some experimentations with same as to which is the more preferable.
12. (Q) Should the latter arrangement only be used when the single antenna AND ground is used instead of a double antenna without ground? (A) As we have indicated, the double antenna is better.
13. (Q) Will a loop or a coil antenna provide a still superior arrangement? (A) The coil, rather than the loop.

14. (Q) Is the NUMBER of turns of wire now wound in the "bucking coils" either correct, too many or too few? (A) Near correct. These will necessitate experiments, especially with the knobs added.
15. (Q) What percentage should the number of turns be increased or decreased? (A) As has just been indicated, it is necessary for tests to be made.
16. (Q) Are condensers of the proper size, connected ACROSS each "bucking coil" necessary to time the cancelling impulses accurately? (A) This is correct.
17. (Q) Should "bucking coils" be placed BOTH in the antenna (input) circuit AND in the coupling (output) circuit? (A) They should.
18. (Q) Would a variable resistance, center-tapped to ground, and connected between the "bucking coils" help further to balance out static noise impulses? (A) This will help further to balance out static noises and interferences.
19. (Q) The tube company furnished, in the second lot of tubes, several with greater disc spacing than originally planned, ranging up to 1/8" between groups of discs. Will this greater disc spacing be of advantage? (A) Not necessarily.
20. (Q) Is such spacing a matter of the discs' handling heavy or light charges of static? (A) This depends upon the heavier or light charges.
21. (Q) Are the means and measures now being pursued proper for a successful result? (A) In these lines and these directions we should find the correct results.
22. (Q) What advice can be given for other treatment or measures to be taken? (A) Only as has been indicated where knobs may be upon the coils.
23. (Q) Will this development yield a strong patent position? (A) It will.
24. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Keep on with these tests, and with those necessary tests where as to spacing and as to the number of raps or coils, see - and it will be found that these will act in the manner as has been indicated.
