Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., N.Y.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [1497], Union League Club, 38 East 37th St., N.Y.C. Referring to information from the Forces given to this entity on February 27th regarding the static eliminator tube and circuit, you will answer further questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind, [1497], and the information which has been given respecting static eliminator.

3. Ready for questions.

4. (Q) Are these balls or knobs to be spherical in shape? (A) Correct.

5. (Q) Are they hollow with a thin shall of copper or brass, or are they to be solid? (A) Solid.

6. (Q) Of what diameter in inches? (A) About half to three-quarters.

7. (Q) Are they to be connected METALLICALLY with the WIRE of the coils, or placed within the field of magnetic influence of same? (A) To be placed within the field of the magnetic influence of same.

8. (Q) If connected metallically, should they be in SERIES, relationship, or connected ACROSS the coils? (A) Only across the coils.

9. (Q) Should TWO BALLS for each coil with a small space between, each ball connected to a terminal of the coil, be the proper arrangement? (A) One ball for each coil.

10. (Q) Should these balls be used on the "bucking" or "static cancelling" coils? (A) On the static cancelling.

11. (Q) Should they be used on the main signalling or broadcast coupling coils as well? (A) The main signalling alone should be sufficient.

12. (Q) If used across the main signalling or broadcast

coupling coils, will it be possible to do away with the "bucking coil" circuits? (A) Should be able to do away with the bucking coil circuits.

13. (Q) In this case should the disc circuits lead DIRECTLY to ground in balanced relationship? (A) Directly to ground in balanced relationship.

14. (Q) Will it be necessary or proper to use condensers across the "bucking" coils if the balls are used across them - that is, should BOTH balls and condensers be used? (A) If bucking coils are done away with, it's not necessary to use them.

15. (Q) Are the function of these balls similar to those of a spark gap in the old so-called "static machines"? (A) Yes.

16. (Q) Should the balls, therefore, be confined to the antenna end and the bucking coils and condensers to the output or receiver end? (A) As we find, the bucking coils may be dispensed with if passed across as has been indicated. These will merely need some tests with same, see?

17. (Q) Any other information at this time regarding this? (A) This is what we have at present.

18. We are through for the present. Copy to Self - Special " " Ass'n file
