1. EC: Eva* - Yes, we have the body here. * [We later discovered this to be Mrs. [1498]'s nickname. GD]
2. Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions that prevent the normal reactions for this body.
3. These as WE find are not altogether in the manner or way that has been determined by some others.
4. As we find these are specific disturbances and of the natures that may be eliminated from the system. These as we find are from poisons that accumulate from an infection source, as well as adhesions from conditions following childbirth.
5. Then, these are conditions as we find them with this body, [1498]:
6. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, we find there is the inclination or tendency towards an anemia. This is because of the lack of the necessary influences to produce a full blood supply by or through assimilation; and the drain upon the red blood for the white blood supply that produces IN the system coagulation, or replenishing from the activity of poisons eliminated - or used energies in the body.
7. And as there are those inclinations produced by adhesions in the pelvic organs, as well as a source of infection in the soft tissue of the face or head, these combinations produce the drain upon the system in that direction.
8. This makes then the effect upon the circulation as an irregularity at times, not all the time but at times, in the MANNER of the pulsation. Not an affectation to the heart activity, though it is at times indicated by the disturbance there.
9. AS TO THE EFFECT OF THIS UPON THE NERVE SYSTEM, the adhesion in the areas indicated, the disturbance in the soft tissue as indicated, produce these effects upon the NERVOUS
1498-1 Page 2
SYSTEMS of the body:
10. There are times when, of a morning, there is a fullness in the throat, the inclination for accumulations in the passage between the nasal passages and the throat - and a phlegm. Not as that from throat so much as from the secretions that are attempting to be eliminated.
11. From those conditions in the pelvis there are at times bearing down pains, as also the effect of headaches; irregularity at PERIODS. There are disturbances through periods when irritation makes for a sympathetic reaction that causes the body to easily become supersensitive to conditions, words, activities, things said by others and the like. Not a mental but a physical reaction; affecting the nerves both of the impulses from the sympathetic and the deeper impulses in the cerebrospinal system.
12. IN THE ORGANS OF THE BODY, as we find, brain forces are good. Reflections through the activities of the organs of the sensory system are very good at times. At other times we find disturbances, as we have indicated.
13. In the activities of the throat, bronchi, lungs and larynx - these are sympathetic disturbances, as are the digestive forces.
14. The overtaxation from nerve exhaustion, from periods that become disturbing, makes for an upsetting of the digestion - and the inclination for the stomach to tip - by the general drain upon the system nervously.
15. The activities of the digestive forces are sympathetically disturbed.
16. Now as WE find, these conditions may be relieved PREFERABLY by specific character of osteopathic manipulation.
17. Operative measures might be used, but under the existent condition of blood forces, under the condition of the nerve system, these would not be as preferable. While the operative measures might require a shorter period of the physical, material suffering, we find that with the releasing that may be brought osteopathically there may be more permanent, more effective and better forces for the body.
18. Hence we would advise that the WHOLE of same be removed osteopathically, RATHER than through the operative measures.
19. These then as we find should be the SPECIFIC changes as should be wrought:
20. In the making of the manipulations, to be sure there must be the two specific areas where there is an indication of the disturbances; and these must be applied in a concerted manner, so as not to make one work against the
1498-1 Page 3
other but a coordinated and cooperative manner, though specific in each portion of the system.
21. We find these osteopathic treatments would best be given in series; twice a week for four weeks; then leave off for a period of three to four weeks; and then another series of these given - and the next for about three weeks and the rest period not quite so long; then a little farther apart - these taken one every ten days, or one every week and then one taken every ten days in the fourth or fifth series given.
22. But in the beginning of each treatment, first give those adjustments in the upper dorsal and through the cervical and the head and neck area, with SPECIFIC applications made to the neck as in reference to the conditions about the back of the ear, across the forehead, and the chin; so that the stimulations that would set up drainages by the releasing of the pressure in the dorsal, upper dorsal and through the cervical, would eliminate by draining from the system, rather than through the throw-off in the respiratory and perspiratory functioning of elimination.
23. Then after these, coordinate with the upper portion - the 9th; 8th, 9th, and 10th dorsal centers; then apply heat - wet heat - to the lower dorsal, 11th and 12th, and through the lumbar and sacral area - WET HEAT. This for five to ten minutes, see? This not that the BODY would be so wet, but wet HEAT - such as heavy towels and the like.
24. Then make the adjustments while the body is relaxed from the heat, see?
25. And when through making the adjustments in the sacral and the lumbar, apply - over the area from the 11th dorsal down - an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor. Then for a few minutes - two to three minutes - apply the wet heat again; not dry in this case but WET heat again.
26. Then sponge off and massage GENTLY until the body is thoroughly relaxed.
27. This procedure would be followed EACH time the treatments were given.
28. Be sure, as the treatments are given, also that adjustments are made in the feet and limbs, especially the bursa in the heel, the bursa in the central portion and in the toes. Be mindful that these are given especially in the first two periods of the full treatments given - that is, the first two series.
29. In the osteopathic treatments, make particular precautions about that 9th and 10th dorsal for the UPLIFTING of the system as related to the straining of the organs
1498-1 Page 4
above the diaphragm to the body in erect motion, see?
30. Then we would be very mindful of the diet for this body. These would be as an outline, but not that these are to be ALL that are taken - but this rather as an outline; and these that are given to beware of, leave off from the diet:
31. Mornings - either cereals OR fresh fruits OR citrus fruit juices; either of these, but do not take the cereals AND the citrus fruit juices at the same meal - not even the same day. An egg or the like may be taken. Use only the brown or whole wheat toast. Tea or coffee; coffee preferably, but NOT WITH cream OR milk!
32. Milk should be taken between the morning and the noon meals; these drinks preferably with the chocolate or the vanilla, not only to make same more palatable but to supply strength for the body.
33. Noons - preferably either green vegetables raw or soups or broths from vegetables, or meat stock; but not mixed. That is, do not have grease with the vegetables in the noon meal - whether cooked or raw; though salad dressing may be taken but not with vinegar.
34. Evenings - well-cooked vegetables. Two of the leafy variety to one of those that grow under the ground.
35. Between the noon and the evening meals take a glass of red wine with brown bread or whole wheat bread or rye bread - as Ry-Krisp or the like. About two ounces of the wine may be taken, as a food - not as a drink; three to four o'clock in the afternoon would be a good time to take it.
36. As to meats - fish, fowl or lamb would be preferable. No fried foods ever. No combinations of spaghetti and potatoes or white bread at the same meal; that is, no two of these at any one meal. No raw apples; unless they are taken as an ONLY diet - that is, only apples as the diet and nothing else - for a cleansing of the system.
37. Do these as for the diets.
38. Keep in a consistent way. Not that other things are not to be taken occasionally. Not that there would not be sweets and things of that nature, but rather be consistent in the way and in the outline as indicated and things of that nature as go with same. It is the combination of foods that so often causes harm with most individuals.
39. After the manipulations osteopathically are begun, we would use the vibrations from the Radio-Active Appliance AS an aid to the body in its resting from the nerve strain or from an extra amount of activity. This taken not as a series, and not to be left off entirely, but take whenever it is felt that there is need for rest or recuperation; whether it is felt better to take of a morning or of an
1498-1 Page 5
evening. But rest for at least thirty minutes to an hour when it is attached to the body. Keep the anodes or plates clean, and do not apply the attachments in the same manner each time. Have one plate marked so that it is the one to be attached first, and the other would be attached to the opposite ankle or wrist as the case may be; that is:
40. At the first attachment, attach one plate FIRST (the first attached becoming the positive, you see) to the right wrist; while the last attachment would be to the left ankle.
41. When the appliance is used again, make the first attachment to the left wrist, while the last attachment would be to the right ankle.
42. The next time the first attachment would be to the left ankle, while the last attachment would be to the right wrist.
43. Next time the first attachment would be to the right ankle, while the last attachment would be to the left wrist.
44. Then begin over again with the first attachment to the right wrist, the last to the left ankle, and so forth - on AROUND the body in that manner. In this manner the attachments make a circuit of the body, you see; the positive attachment always going AROUND the body and the negative following from the extreme extremity.
45. Whether the Appliance is used once a day or once in a week, or every other day, or twice a day, for thirty minutes, be sure the change in attachment is made each time correctly.
46. Ready for questions.
47. (Q) Should the application of the Mutton Tallow, Camphor and Turpentine be applied throughout the whole course of the osteopathic treatments? (A) The whole course of the osteopathic treatments. That should be a portion of the treatment, you see. First is the relaxing of the body by wet heat, see; the adjustments and osteopathic manipulations - of course, the body dried before that. Then afterwards the wet heat applied, then the body not sponged entirely dry but the compound applied - that is, the mutton tallow, camphor and turpentine - and then wet heat on top of same for five to ten minutes. Then sponge off dry, you see; VERY dry.
