At home, about 3 Time of Reading 1/2 mi. due No. 11:00 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. from ..., on Rd. #4 between ..., Va., out from the mail address of Rte. #1, Box 90, ..., Va. (Physical Suggestion)
1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1526].
2. Now as we find, the causes of the disturbing conditions in the physical forces of the body are rather specific.
3. However, the effects that are produced on the mental and the imaginative forces, as well as physical, are disturbing; and distributed in manners in which VARYING effects are produced in the reactions to the body-forces.
4. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [1526] we are speaking of:
5. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, while this is very good at most times, the manner or the great variation in which it circulates shows or indicates the disturbances to be in the nervous systems of the body.
6. For there is the effect of being very fast at times, being very slow at others, being in that state of irritation at others. Hence this produces to the organs of digestion the disturbances, as well as the reflexes to the mental and the imaginative forces of the body.
7. IN THE NERVE FORCES, here, as we have just indicated, do we find the source or the causes; through injuries to the structural portions that produced a bruising and a straining of muscular forces along the cerebrospinal system, in the areas between the lumbar axis and the upper dorsal, to the cervicals.
8. These have formed lesions, and at times there is the effect even of tissue that has become involved with the impulses of the vegetative or sympathetic nervous system.
1526-1 Page 2
9. Thus there is produced this great variation that arises in the impulse for activities; until at times there is ALMOST that condition where it is hard for the body to REMEMBER as to what IS the impelling influence causing the body to do this or that, or to make sudden changes in the plans or the activities, or to lose control of the impulse that forced or caused the body to begin this or that activity.
10. And the effect at such times is to cause the circulation to become greatly increased, the lack of the proper precautions as to activities concerning the preservation even of self as related to its activities, as to its feeding or as to the NORMAL activities.
11. Or, as may be indicated, those reactions to the nerve forces that are voluntary become involuntary, and the involuntary become voluntary.
12. Thus there is the necessity for reminding the body. Not that there is a mental aberration, but the reactions become such as to produce great disturbance to the imaginative forces or the nerve system itself.
13. AS TO THE ORGANS OF THE BODY, the activities of these conditions upon the organs may be said to become greatly disturbing at times; thus causing other reactions that become disturbing forces for the physical body.
14. As we find, these may be - with proper precautions, proper care - eliminated, and near to normalcy brought for the body in ALL of the reactions in same.
15. First, there should be the PREPARATIONS of the body-physical for activities of a mechanical nature (that is, osteopathy nature) to make for the coordination of ganglia and centers along the cerebrospinal system, that have become disturbed by this tendency for the accumulation of scar tissue by the activities of the bruises, the strains, and then the nerve tie-ups that have been produced in centers or ganglia along the cerebrospinal system.
16. Thus, as we find:
17. For a period of at least four to five weeks, we would make applications every other day - when the body is ready to retire at night - of a combination of three parts Laudanum to one part Aconite. Rub or paint the body with this solution, you see, from those areas just below the shoulder blades to the upper portion of the hip bones - or to the pelvis, and about the width of twelve inches. Then apply over the same area, which has been painted with this solution, heavy salt heated. Not common table salt but heavier salt, made into a pack sufficient to cover those areas of the spine as indicated, see? and let remain for at
1526-1 Page 3
least half to three-quarters of an hour. Do this every other night until a period of about five weeks.
18. THEN, this will have so relaxed this area that the manipulations osteopathically, gently given at first, and GRADUALLY increased, will - with the use of the Radio-Active Appliance AND the violet ray applied - bring to the system the perfect or near perfectly normal coordination in the areas that have been so disturbed, that bring the disturbing influences to the mental and physical forces of the body.
19. In making the applications osteopathically - which would only be begun after the five weeks of preparation and relaxation in the manner indicated - we would suggest that these be given about twice a week for about two or three week periods, and then a rest period from same of two to three weeks. Give these gently at first, and gradually increase in severity. Give under the supervision of such an one as Shackleford [E. H. Shackleford, D.O.] of Richmond; and we will find, with the other applications as indicated, near to normal conditions coming for this body.
20. As outlined, the injuries were to the structural portions that produced a bruising and a straining of muscular forces along the cerebrospinal system, in the areas between the lumbar axis and the upper dorsal, to the cervical area.
21. Also, WHEN the osteopathic manipulations are begun, we would begin with the use of the Radio-Active Appliance. The attachments would be circulated about the body in this manner; preferably in the evening when resting, or just before retiring; for an hour:
22. 1st day: The first attachment would be to the right wrist, the last attachment to the left ankle.
23. 2nd day: The first attachment would be to the left wrist, the last to the right ankle.
24. 3rd day: First attachment would be to the left ankle, the last to the right wrist.
25. 4th day: The first attachment would be to the right ankle, the last to the left ankle.
26. Thus the attachments have circulated the body. Then commence over again, alternating the attachments each time as indicated. The first plate attached becomes the positive, the last the negative. Use the Appliance each evening for periods of two to three weeks, then leave off a week or ten days, then begin again.
27. And during the two to three weeks rest period from the osteopathic manipulations, we would use every other day the plain hand Violet Ray (bulb applicator) (and this may be done at home), for a minute to a minute and a half. Let
1526-1 Page 4
this be begun at the base of the brain, and go towards the center of the body - down the spine. Then begin at the back of the heels and go along the sciatic centers, up to the middle portion of the back.
28. When the osteopathic manipulations are begun again, then leave off the Violet Ray - but begin again at the next rest period, and so on.
29. Also, of course, when the osteopathic manipulations are first begun the applications of the Laudanum-Aconite solution AND the heated Salt Packs would be left off; and unless there are serious disturbances these need not be applied again.
30. Ready for questions.
31. (Q) Did his work or environment cause his general nervous condition? (A) Rather the injury to the spinal nerve system, as we have indicated; or not the SPINAL nerve system but rather those nerve systems paralleling the spinal nervous system!
32. (Q) Why is he so completely exhausted at times with the slightest exertion? (A) The natural reaction from the imperfect coordination between the cerebrospinal or sympathetic or vegetative nerve system. Thus the over-impelling force that is increased, or makes swift the circulation. This EXHAUSTS the body.
33. (Q) Is there any organic condition? (A) As indicated, it is rather sympathetic and reflex.
34. (Q) Is the work he is planning the right type for his condition? (A) This will be very well, so it isn't done too strenuously. But carry out these suggestions, and we would find there will be some changes in the plans - of a more effective or of a better nature for the body.
35. (Q) What about the diet? (A) A normal, balanced diet - this as we find would be proper for this body.
36. (Q) Just what was the nature of the injury, and when did it occur? (A) Injury to the body by a fall, or by a pressure. Do these things, and as we find we will bring the near to normal forces for this body, [1526].
