Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia.
1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1541]; this we have had before, you see.
3. Now as we find, conditions in some respects are not so good, and in others there is still some improvement.
4. Those conditions which exist in the lower portion of the limb, as has been indicated, are from the lack of the ability of the superficial or outer circulation to carry the poisons away from the system; tending to make for accumulations that produce reinfection through the poisons of the natural forces of the system.
5. Then there needs to be not only the care for the diet but to keep somewhat an excess in eliminations through alimentary canal.
6. The present condition as we find arises from too much of the attempt to create or help the internal circulation from the sun heat, and standing too much on the feet has tended to increase the circulation TO the portions and not sufficient of that as indicated to take the circulation FROM same.
7. Thus there became the tendencies for the swelling, as well as the spreading of the conditions through the system.
8. And this, unless there are precautions, would continue.
9. There should be, however, more of the deep osteopathic manipulations through the lumbar and sacral areas, and WITH those stimulations from the 9th dorsal UPWARD to cause better elimination or coordination with the alimentary canal; thus keeping the system more in coordinating activity.
10. The application of those conditions for the external portions should be made to the local portions, but not OVER the afflicted area itself so much. Those applications that
1541-6 Page 2
have been indicated for same are very good.
11. We would apply the Mullein Stupes now more to those areas that are the SOURCES from which the limbs receive their circulatory activity, and those portions about the limb to reduce the swelling. Apply these about once a day, and for about an hour. The Mullein made into a tea would also be well, but not of the same leaves used on the leg, of course! About two ounces of this would be taken each day.
12. (Q) Should the Mullein at any time be applied to the back? (A) As has been given, apply it from the sources! or apply it to the sources from which the limbs obtain their circulatory activity! Does this mean from the toes or from the hips? Keep off of the limb as much as possible. Keep off of the feet as much as possible, and when reclining keep the limb elevated a little above the normal, so that the circulation is tended TOWARD the body-forces themselves. As to the eliminations in the present, we find that the Simmons Liver Regulator would be more effective, OR the Ragweed made into a lotion, or this boiled together and with a preservative - which is practically the same; though Senna or Dover's Powder is added in the Regulator. Hence we would use the liquid Simmons Liver Regulator.
13. (Q) How often should the Simmons Liver Regulator be given? (A) How often is it needed? There should be at least two evacuations each day. Take sufficient for whatever is needed. Occasionally the enemas are preferable to TOO much of cathartics of ANY kind. And even when cathartics are taken, the enemas are well so that there is not the inclination for such to become reabsorbed in the system. Remember, poisons are accumulated by the infectious condition, and when there is swelling or inflammation these need to be eliminated. Do these, and keeping those things which have been indicated - we should find the better conditions for this body. Ready for questions.
14. (Q) Should the Saffron Tea be continued? (A) As indicated, keep up the rest of those things which have been given.
15. (Q) Would the local application from Peoples Drug Store, which I hold in my hand, be better than the D.D.D.? (A) Try it! if that is the desire!
16. (Q) How often should the bichloride wash be used?
1541-6 Page 3
(A) Whenever the leg is dressed - but do not have too much of the bichloride, of course - that is, do not have too strong a solution.
17. (Q) Has the strength that's been used been alright? (A) It has sometimes been too strong.
18. (Q) How often should the leg be dressed? (A) About twice a day; once or twice a day.
19. (Q) Would the antiseptic wash, Dr. Hare's prescription, which I hold in my hand, be better than the bichloride? (A) No!
20. (Q) What part of body should have sun bath to aid healing? (A) That part from which the limbs receive their impulse for circulation. This, then, is across the sacral, and the areas indicated that need the stimulation through the osteopathic manipulations. From the lower end of the spine to those areas above the 9th dorsal.
21. (Q) How long at a time should the sun bath be given? (A) Depends on what time of day it is taken! If it is before ten o'clock, for thirty minutes. If it is between ten and two, not over five to ten minutes. If it is after two or three o'clock, then for thirty minutes.
22. (Q) Further strict corrective diet. (A) Don't let the diet become a stumbling-stone, but just watch as to that which agrees and that which does not agree. What is needed to keep the body-strength and to keep better eliminations should be taken.
23. (Q) What causes occasional nausea? (A) The poisons attempting to be eliminated, and NOT the coordination between the superficial and deeper circulation stimulated properly through the manipulations. These should be given more in direction with that as we have indicated; and not DOWNWARD ALWAYS but stimulate those centers which produce the better coordination between superficial AND the deeper circulation.
24. (Q) Have osteopathic treatments been given correctly? (A) Read just what has been given!
25. (Q) Should I continue with Ober or Crews, or make another change? (A) Be better with Crews, if she will make the better manipulations; for this does not require as much of an exercise or disturbance to the body in obtaining same. Do these, and we will find we will help.
