This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of February, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1542], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Dr. [...] [[2558]''s Husband].

1. EC: Yes - a sanitarium.
2. We have the body, Mrs. [1542].
3. Now as we find, in giving that as may be helpful in bringing about much nearer normal conditions for this body, not so much the history of the conditions but the temperament of the body should be taken into consideration.
4. And there must be the arousing of that WITHIN the activities physical AND mental of the body to exert itself to throw off those tendencies for inertia or inactivity because of the pain or disturbing conditions through the physical forces of the body.
5. It is true that much is to be accomplished, in building up resistances in the system by the rest and quiet; yet those inclinations to give way to disturbing forces without making the full effort to exert itself must necessarily be overcome.
6. Also the resistances must be built up in the expectancy and the hope.
7. For the abilities and the activities are such that the body may give an account, as it were, of itself in its abilities to bring help and hope, and a greater outlook upon the experiences of life to those whom the body may meet.
8. There are deficiencies in the vital forces, as in the abilities of the blood supply, owing to infectious forces in the body, to rebuild or replenish. Thus this weakness and the inclinations for the body to give way to the PROGRESSIVENESS of this infection upon the activities themselves of the body must be overcome.
9. To be sure, the deficiencies are existent - as through the inability in the present for vital activities, also those activities through the respiratory system, through the assimilating system, and the activities of the reflexes in
1542-1 Page 2
the bodily functions themselves.
10. Yet as we find - while many of the administrations that have been indicated are well - there may be added those vital forces which would work with the activity of the system to overcome the inclinations in the mental as well as in the physical forces of the body.
11. Thus we may rebuild to a much nearer normal condition.
12. That many of the organs in their functioning are involved in the present becomes apparent, by - a great deal of this - the mere giving away to inclinations.
13. Not that the body should be OVERACTIVE, or that there should not be proper consideration given to the weaknesses in the system - from the effects of the infectious forces that attack tissue itself, as well as becoming active upon the nerve system and affecting the locomotory forces, producing the weakness and the inability for activity.
14. But there must be that of the EXPECTANCY, and the inclinations more to RESIST than to just give way!
15. As we find, as indicated, the blood supply shows a lack of the vital forces in the red blood as well as in the plasm necessary for the production of those influences that cause coagulation or rebuilding by the use or tearing down of energies in activity in the bodily forces.
16. In the nerve system we find, as might be said, a collapse between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic; and these, too, must be taken into consideration - also those activities that make for the actions through the assimilating forces that replenish the forces of the bodily function.
17. And we may bring - from the conditions - a much nearer normalcy.
18. The glandular forces as related to portions of the eliminating system become a part of the activity, owing to the weaknesses in those portions of the body as related to nerve energies. These, too, must be taken into consideration in the applications for the greater helpful experiences for the body.
19. As we find, then, in making administrations:
20. We would not change so much those that have been for the strengthening, in the rest; but we would add these:
21. Prepare Pure Apple Brandy in such a manner that the fumes may be inhaled from same; that is: Put at least a gallon of Pure Apple Brandy in a charred container at least twice the size for the quantity of fluid; or with a gallon of the Brandy use a two gallon container - charred keg. This should be prepared so it may be sealed, but with an opening so the FUMES - as the evaporation takes place - may
1542-1 Page 3
be inhaled. Not the Brandy but the FUMES; not continuously, but this may be kept where it would be warm, and then once or twice a day INHALE the fumes from this - as you would inhale smoke - into the lungs and throat.
22. Thus the activities of the Fumes may act not only as a purifier but a clarifier and purifier of tissue as it is acted upon in the throat, bronchi and lungs by the inhalations - or as the breath is taken.
23. Thus we may add to the circulatory forces the strengthening needed to overcome the inclinations and conditions through the system.
24. Also we would add Yogurt in the diet as an active cleanser through the colon and intestinal system. This would be most beneficial, not only purifying the alimentary canal but adding the vital forces necessary to enable those portions of the system to function in the nearer normal manner.
25. Thus we may bring the abilities for strength and for purifying the circulatory forces, upon which depends the strength to resist physically the inroads of the infectious forces that disturb the locomotion as well as the pulmonary and the circulatory system and the strength through the depleting of the nerve energies of the body.
26. These with the activities that have been administered, or being administered, we would do.
27. Also we would have a massage given at least three to four times a week for the distribution throughout the superficial circulation; or to distribute those impulses along the ganglia of the cerebrospinal system as it coordinates with the superficial circulation.
28. The occasional use of enemas for cleansing the colon will be most beneficial.
29. Do these, as combined with others, and we will bring for this body the much nearer normal conditions.
30. Ready for questions.
31. (Q) Should the massage be given by an osteopath or a general masseuse? (A) A masseuse, preferably. One that would follow the nerves along the system, as a neuropath.
