This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 4th day of May, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self, through Dr. Cora C. Hansen, new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, Mr. [1585].
2. Now as we find, the weaknesses and the lack of the vital resistances necessary arise from not only the lack of the coordinations of the cerebrospinal and sympathetic systems for carrying the energies for activity of the body, but also from the lack of vital forces in the assimilating system to produce that energizing influence in the body.
3. Hence we have the affectations to the functioning organs through this weakness which occurs in the system.
4. As we find, in the incipiency or in the beginnings, these arise from a pressure that is indicated in the lumbar and coccyx area; the coccyx area especially; making for a pressure upon the lower end or brush portion of the cerebrospinal system.
5. This in return or in its reaction upon the energizing forces through the plexus to the vagus center produces that muscular contraction through neck, head and face, as well as those reflexes to the areas about the lacteal duct plexus.
6. All of this combined makes for the general debilitation, producing a reaction upon the centers through the heart's activity, through the lung forces, as to prevent a normal assimilation and activity.
7. As we find then the effect from these is to reduce the influence of the coordinations and of the sympathetic reactions to the activity of the organs.
8. Then, in making applications, as we find:
9. First we would apply wet heat - as very heavy cloths wrung out of very warm, hot water, and applied across the sacral, the lower lumbar AND the coccyx area.
10. Do this each day, and following same give the gentle treatment - not heavy in the beginning - to remove those pressures in the sacral, the lower lumbar AND the coccyx area; coordinating the 9th dorsal, the vagus center and the
1585-1 Page 2
vagus system especially, to the thorax, to the lower portion of the face and the head.
11. Then after such a treatment, for fifteen to twenty minutes each day, we would also administer the very low form of electrical vibrations - as from a Plain Cell Appliance - the Storage Battery; though with a connection to the system to stimulate the STRENGTHENING forces. Not as high as the violet ray, for these vibrations would be too frequent. But use a Dry Cell Battery, see - one cell! with two plain wires, with anodes to be attached as follows:
12. One day the first attachment would be to the right wrist, the other to the left ankle.
13. The next day the first attachment would be to the left wrist, the other to the right ankle.
14. The next day the first attachment would again be to the right wrist, the other to the left ankle - and so on, alternating the attachments each day in this manner - for fifteen minutes, or it may be twenty minutes after the fourth or fifth day.
15. For the STRENGTHENING will be produced by the vibratory forces, AS there is the removing of the pressure in the areas as indicated.
16. We would continue with the rest, the care, and those precautions as to the strengthening diet and the easy assimilation.
17. And as we find we may bring with these the better conditions for this body.
18. Ready for questions.
19. (Q) Will the patient be able to be taken home, to take the trip home? (A) It would better if it would rest for three to four days, or five days, BEFORE attempting it. For then we would find the strength RENEWED sufficient for such an activity WITHOUT the fear of causing undue strain upon the body.
20. (Q) What is the best thing for Dr. Hansen [Cora C. Hansen, D.O.] to do under the circumstances? (A) Make the applications or administrations that have been indicated, and we would find we would bring a much better condition for this body. For the removal of the drosses and the disturbing conditions existent will be such, by these treatments, as to so stimulate all of those activities as to bring nearer normalcy - of the whole of the heart's activity, the coordination between the lung and the heart, between the liver and the lower hepatic circulation or the kidneys.
21. (Q) What diet would you suggest for the body? (A) Those foods that are easily assimilated and at the same
1585-1 Page 3
time strengthening. Though these would not be all that would be taken, we would give this as an outline: Mornings - citrus fruit juices OR cereals, as oatmeal or a cooked cereal, or Maltex. But DO NOT give cereals AND fruit juices at the same meal! Noons - ground liver or beef juices or vegetable juices, or those foods that are easily assimilated but strengthening. Evenings - fish, fowl or the like, with a green vegetable. All of these preferably would be prepared in their own juices, rather than with meats or with large quantities of grease.
22. (Q) Should the first attachment of the Appliance always be to either wrist? (A) As just given; first to the right wrist, left ankle; next to the left wrist, right ankle; the next day to the right wrist and left ankle, and so on. You see, we are carrying the cross vibrations to the extremities for their building up of the activity of the vibratory forces of the body. ONE CELL, not the wet cell but the Dry Cell Appliance, see?
