1. GC: You will have before you Mrs. [1648], born September 29, 1880, in Beaver Dam, Hanover County, Va., and the Life Reading given for her through this channel July 28, 1938. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them, regarding her present associations and relations with individuals.
2. EC: Yes, we have the information as given regarding the entity now known as or called Mrs. [1648].
3. Ready for questions.
4. (Q) What true relation does my husband [from whom I'm separated] bear to me, and why did he come into my life? Can I help him other than by good thoughts? (A) This question - in relationship to husband and others for this entity or any one soul - is well. As has been indicated through these channels, there is never a chance meeting, or any association, that hasn't its meaning or purpose in the development of an individual entity or soul. Then, as we have indicated, if any entity, any individual, takes a meeting, any association, with the purpose or the desire to use same for self-indulgence, self-aggrandizement, and no thought of the purposes of any activity through the development of the soul for its purpose as it enters, then it becomes that as may be or is called KARMA - or the individual becomes subject to LAW! And, as has been pronounced, the letter of the law killeth, but the spirit of the law maketh alive. Then the spirit of the law is exemplified in He that IS the Law of Love, and Grace, and Mercy, and Truth. And they that use such associations, such meetings as such, become helpmeets one to another - or stepping-stones for a

greater development. Then as indicated in the question sought here - as regarding individual association: While a greater or broader truth might be gained by comparison of what each of these as individual entities had done and have done and are doing respecting the soul developments through the planes, we find - as indicated by the association - there have been meetings before, of course; as in the experiences before this - a very close association, though NOT as man and wife, RATHER as brother and sister. And their activities as one towards another were as variations to conditions, as to the purposes for which and the manner in which they each applied themselves towards creative influences and forces during the experience. One - as we have indicated - applied self for an advancement, the other for retardment. The natural associations were attractive one to another; but when there came to be questions as to that which was self-indulgence and that which was for glorifying of the spirit, the developments of the cross purposes showed themselves. These as we find then in the present - under the present associations, it is well or better for each if there is rather the good intent and purpose through the MENTAL self than the PHYSICAL OR mental associations.
5. (Q) What true relation does [...] [my daughter] bear to me, and why did she come into my life? How can I help her? (My first child) (A) In this we find again the association in those experiences rather during the periods when there were great questionings in the experience of sisters, as the associations were in the Palestine sojourn; when some - or as was expressed by Him - the house was divided one against another. Here then we find the true relationships are that the attraction needed is that which has been indicated by the material manifestations; and there needs be more patience, more fortitude on the part of each.
6. (Q) What true relation does [...] [my daughter] bear to me, and why did she come into my life? How can I help her? (My second child) (A) Here again we find the true relationships of mother and daughter, but in a reversed order. And it was during the
1648-2 Page 3
experiences in the period previous to this. And as we find the differences and the impending disturbances arise from views upon relationships as in the moral attitudes of individuals in their relationships to others. As to the help - it is that as may be had from so living, manifesting the fruits of the spirit in such a manner that in mind and heart self may say, "These blessings I give thee, in the name of Him that taught me to pray." In the same way and manner as they abide one with another, so may the greater strength, the greater help come - through the peace as will be brought to each in this experience.
7. (Q) What true relation does [...] [my departed son] bear to me, and why did he come into my life? (My third child, lived five days) (A) That there might be those assurances, in spirit, in mind, in truth, of the relationship self bears to the whole. For as the soul sought expression through the unity of activity in the material experience, this was needed in the experience of each for that assurance of love that passeth understanding, and the peace that comes with the knowledge that HIS ways are not past finding out. Though to the material mind they may oft be misunderstood, the spiritual mind bears witness as one to another. As to the previous associations, we find these were very close - AS the brother and sister, in the EGYPTIAN experience.
8. (Q) What true relation does [...] [my son] bear to me and why did he come into my life? How can I help him? (My fourth child) (A) By bearing in the experiences and the activities the true relationships of the fruits of the spirit. For during those sojourns or experiences in the land of promise there were many ways and manners of association, not only as to the relationships in the political and economic and social and religious activities but as to lover and maid. So in the present the associations were brought together for the consummation and the fulfilling of those promises that come in the living and the sowing of the seed in the fruits of the spirit. How may it best be helped, then? Not by indifference, not by intolerance, but in love, in hope, in blessings, in

advice, in counsel - as one that exemplifieth that love which indeed remaineth EVER true under all circumstances and conditions. Be then as He gave. Let that mind be in YOU regarding and toward him, as was and is in the mind of thy Master - as He walked in the earth; bearing in His body and in His mind the errors, the faults, the blessings, the sorrows, the joys that are thine and all mankind's!
9. (Q) Why did [the late] Robert Johnston [minister, author of THE SOUL'S STRUGGLE, etc.] come into my life and what relation does he bear to me? (A) Even as the father in those periods of stress and strain through the Palestine experience. And as he comforted thee, as he helped thee, so has there been that courage, that strength which has been a bulwark to thee in thy efforts and in thy sorrows, in thy joys, in thy troubles, in thy disappointments, in thy activities throughout. So may the strength of each bear as one to another the expressions of a loving Father.
10. (Q) Why did [...] come into my life, and what relation does he bear to me? (Clergyman 36 years old) (A) As we have indicated, such associations might best be drawn by the comparison of the two Life Readings. But as there are the needs of being strengthened by thy weakness as well as thy strength, thy faith as well as thy activity, so ye must stand in the present experience as one that may ever encourage - though thy efforts may even be denied; but these in the manner as they bear the fruits of love - FINDING its way through the shadowy veil of materiality!
11. (Q) Why has [...] (our Dean of ...) come into my life and what is his true relation to me? (A) Again, GREATER bearing might be gained by a comparison of the experiences of each - through the varied attributes of the inner self. But here we find again it necessary that the entity give and take strength to those very attempts of the Dean, to make for those relationships in the minds and hearts of others who would guide and direct groups, individuals, under the various vicissitudes of activities in the varied environments. For as thy relationships here bear the reflection of the MANY varied experiences, so in varied ways and varied circumstances we find that all the varied aspects of individuals become a part of that effort that must be lent in assisting to guide and direct those in their activities under the various circumstances.

12. (Q) Why has [...] come into my life, and what relation does she bear to me? (Young girl 30, secretary to our Dean. A beautiful character) What relation are she and [...]? Strong spiritual attraction. [See Par. 10-Q above.] (A) OFT as the thorn in the flesh; but that His glory may be made manifest under all the varying circumstances. For again and again through the activities in the earth - as ye read, as ye study that as must have been thy activity in the various phases of thy appearances and thy activity through same, ye will be able to see in those very conditions that arise much of that wherein - as friend, as foe, as brother, as sister - ye have borne relationships with this entity. How may ye apply self then in the present? Studying ever to show, in all thy activities and relationships, that thou hast walked and companioned with Him who IS the life and the truth and the way, and the very bread of life itself!
13. (Q) What relationship does she bear to [...]? [See Par. 10-Q above.] (A) As has been indicated.
14. (Q) Why did [...] (recently passed on - cousin and brother-in-law) come into my life and what was his true relation to me? (A) As in the present experience he stood as the defender, so ye have seen and may see in the study of thy experiences in the previous sojourn - as well as in the period of stress in the land of promise - that he has been the true friend. What relationship ye bear in the present - Choose those things that were constructive. Magnify them in thy own experience, APPLYING them as CONSTRUCTIVE influences and forces in the meeting of others day by day.
15. (Q) Why did [...] come into my life and how may I help him (young clergyman 33, strong mental and spiritual attraction) - Would he make a good chaplain for [...]? (A) Make a very good chaplain for [...] if he is held in that position where - as would be said in common parlance - he would not become too large for his gallowses or breeches! In the associations here, we find there needs be rather manifested, rather stressed in every act and in every way that which has oft been spoken as "Let not thy good be evilspoken of," in any relationship. If these are expressed or rather stressed in the experience of the entity, there will be brought greater joy, greater peace, greater harmony as the developments progress in his activity during this sojourn.
