Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1648].

3. Now as we find, there are very definite disturbances that - with a great deal of care and attention - may be relieved in the present; else we may find greater disturbances arising a little later.

4. These as we find have to do with the activities of organs, as related to the circulation; especially to the hepatics - and to the functioning both excretory and secretive of the liver.

5. Hence the disturbing conditions of a varied nature that arise as a result of these disturbances.

6. Then, these are conditions-physical as we find them with this body, [1648] we are speaking of:

7. The blood supply we find indicates the nature of the disturbance. While the condition in the blood supply varies considerable, this indicates that there is the attempt of the system to adjust itself or to make amends, as it were. And thus, through this is the indication that the disturbances may be materially relieved; if there is a consistent and persistent application of those things as we find that would bring about such a change.

8. For some time back there has been an inclination for a catarrhal condition in the portion of the stomach (the pyloric portion) emptying into the duodenum.

9. This arose as we find primarily from the effects of, or taxation to the system during a period of flu. And this, through the temperature created at the time, AFFECTED the upper hepatic circulation; so that we have in the right lobe of the liver a tendency for a hardening. Not as an atrophy; rather as may be said of spots.

10. Hence the burning sensation that occurs oft in those

1648-3 Page 2

portions of the right side, under the lower edge of the rib. This naturally has caused and does cause some disturbance with the activity through the excretory functioning to the gall duct area.

11. With these spots and with these disturbing factors, we find at times shortness of breath, the inclination for such toxic forces that the breath becomes rather disturbing as to the reaction from same.

12. In the circulation as related to the superficial we find the effects of spots, as might be called; not liver spots but the EFFECT of same, and yet the system's attempting to ADJUST itself - these appear and disappear rather in discoloration over portions of the body. At times over the abdomen, at others over the breast or the upper portion of the torso; at times on the hand and at times on the lower limbs.

13. At others we find the effect to the kidneys in the manner in which the eliminations come as related to uric acid, or the excess amounts of same in the system. With the low effect of the thyroid in its activity at times, this causes the conditions that show in the form of heaviness across the small of the back, feeling of heaviness through the limbs and the feet at times in the evenings tend to feel as if they might swell a bit. Puffiness at times under the eyes, and to the circulatory forces as related to the sensory forces - ALL of the organs of the sensory force become involved. As the eyes - from sudden change in temperature, sudden change in light or the sudden activity of influences that would exercise the sympathetics - the lachrymal ducts become overactive at times.

14. All of these are the EFFECTS of this disturbance as we find in a portion of the organ itself. This, of course, affects the functioning of the organs of the hepatic circulation; and to the digestive forces at times it gives disturbing influences through these conditions - and the general reaction.

15. At times bad taste in the mouth; at times a little gnawing in the pit of the stomach; at others through portions of the abdomen a heaviness.

16. In making application of those things as we find that would be beneficial in correcting these conditions, then:

17. We would first begin with a massage each evening with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor; over the whole of the liver area, extending from the lower portion of the ribs (and over the floating ribs) on the right side, all the way to the caecum or groin on that side - and across, of course, the portion

1648-3 Page 3

of the abdomen to the umbilicus plexus. Massage thoroughly, in this manner, just what the body will absorb; rubbing off the surplus or superfluous portions.

18. Then about twice a week - say Tuesday and Friday evenings, or the days that it is most convenient for same - when ready to retire - the Castor Oil Packs, over the same area - the whole of the same area. Dip two or three thickness of flannel, a piece sufficiently large to cover the whole area, in hot Castor Oil - and wring out; as warm as the hands can stand (for Castor Oil gets rather warm!). Then apply directly to the body. Cover this with a dry cloth or towel, heavy crash towel or the like, and let it remain for at least an hour to two hours. Do this for three or four times.

19. After the third or fourth time of using the Packs, take internally two tablespoonsful of Olive Oil.

20. Then, after the Olive Oil has acted thoroughly, or in two days afterward - have a thorough osteopathic manipulation, with special reference to the centers from which the gall duct and liver especially receive impulse from the cerebrospinal system - or the upper dorsal and throughout the cervical.

21. At the same time, massage or knead the abdomen, especially as related to the draining of the colon itself.

22. After about three of such treatments - two days apart, or twice a week - we would then take a high colonic irrigation.

23. Rest then for about two weeks from any of the applications. Then commence all over again.

24. Do the same things. First the massages with the compound for two or three days. Then the Oil Packs for one day. Then keep up the massages until the next Friday or Thursday, and then have another of the Oil Packs. Keep up the massages for another day, taking the Olive Oil again.

25. And THEN have two or three of the deep osteopathic manipulations with special reference (in the second series, you see) to not only the stirring of the liver for activity but the kidneys as well. Hence not only the dorsals, as from the 9th down, but the lumbar and sacral would then receive THEIR special attention also.

26. Then the matter of the diet: While this has been very good for the body, we would keep away from any of fried foods. Not too great a quantity of starches. Take plenty of fresh vegetables. One meal each day, then, should include some raw vegetables. Plenty of fruits. A little bit later, as conditions improve, there may be - in the place of meats - nuts taken if so desired.

27. Do these and we will bring the better forces for this body, [1648].

28. Ready for questions.

29. (Q) What causes the dull aching in left temple at times? (A) This as we find is a reflex from the condition in the right side, as it crosses here from the vagus center to the left temple. Pains in the head, as we have indicated, the more often than otherwise are a signal of disturbance through some other portion of the body - NOT in the head!

30. (Q) Why do my eyes sometimes have puffs under them? (A) As indicated, this is a part of the disturbance from the affectation to the lower hepatic circulation; reflecting through the activity of the glandular forces. These are the RESULTS of such disturbance. Again this is an indication, or a sign, as to the sources of disturbance.

31. (Q) Does the same also cause the eyes, especially the left, to water so freely? (A) As just given.

32. (Q) I sleep very fitfully and not very soundly. Is there anything I can do to help this condition? (A) This is from nerve conditions, and with the applications as indicated should be much improved. Also the use of the Radio-Active Appliance would be of great benefit in this direction, but this only begun AFTER the beginning - or at the beginning of the second series of the osteopathic adjustments.

33. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet [which was enclosed] of directions to Osteopath for first AND second series of treatments. Directions for preparing Castor Oil Packs. Article explaining theory of Radio-Active Appliance.)
