Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, with special reference to the rheumatic disturbance; giving cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions that may be asked.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, Mr. [1674].

3. Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions that prevent the better normal functioning of the body.

4. Many of these, as we find, may be corrected in the present that would be harder to deal with if they become more and more of a constitutional nature, or if the organs of the body in adjusting themselves to disturbances bring about conditions that would be harder to control.

5. While these in the present are producing a rheumatic reaction, we find that it is more of a NEURITIC than a rheumatic reaction; and would bring greater disturbances unless there are changes made.

6. Then, these are conditions as we find them with this body, Mr. [1674] we are speaking of, present in this room:

7. First, IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find full, both as to quantity and as to quality; yet - through the organs of elimination, or of drainage - it is not being cleansed as perfectly as it should be.

8. As we find, there has been in some times back a disturbance, a hurt or a WRENCH more, in the lower dorsal and in the lumbar area. [See 1674-1, Par. R6.]

9. This has produced pressures that, through the full blood supply, have gradually slowed up the manner in which the lower hepatic circulation has eliminated the uric acid from the system.

10. Hence we have had periods when the pressures across the lumbar areas and the lower dorsal have caused ACUTE disturbances.

11. Also there have been periods when there was the lack of

1674-1 Page 2

the full flow or activity of the kidneys as related to the eliminations from the system, through these channels.

12. There have been periods when the activity through the bladder was in excess, yet - owing to the pressure and to the character of circulation produced by the full flow of circulatory forces - it was not eliminating through nominal channels.

13. IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, we find that these are partially causes, partially effects. When there is the acute pressure upon the locomotories, and especially through the lumbar and sacral areas, then these are the effects. When the pressures through the segments in the lower dorsal and through the lumbar axis are such as to cause the slowing of the activities of the liver and the kidneys, as related to eliminations, THEN the nervous system - especially the sympathetic - is a cause of disturbance.

14. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, brain forces are good.

15. The sensory reactions are beginning to show the effects of too strong circulatory forces or pressures in the blood supply.

16. And in the activities through the throat, the bronchi and the lungs, the larynx, we find the EFFECT of poisons; though these within themselves are functioning near normal.

17. Heart activity, as indicated, is showing a full pressure in the circulatory system.

18. In the digestive system we find disturbance, owing to the lack of the coordination between the upper and the lower hepatic circulation. Hence an indigestion is produced of the nature that the body is susceptible especially to fats.

19. Hence - until all of these corrections are made - there should not ever be in the diet any fried foods of ANY character.

20. This - with the applications which will produce a better coordination or balance between the lacteals - or the acid and alkalin activity of the digestive forces through the stomach and duodenum themselves - will bring a better balance and relief from the disturbances in that direction.

21. Then, the activities of the liver, with the spleen and the kidneys, will be balanced through applications as we find that may be indicated for the body.

22. IN MAKING, THEN, THE CORRECTIONS THAT WOULD BRING ABOUT THE NEAR TO NORMAL CONDITIONS FOR THIS BODY:

23. If these are followed, consistently and rather persistently, in a few weeks help may be seen; and in a few months the causes may be entirely eliminated - and we will have a near to normal balance throughout this body of Mr.

[1674],

24. Then, we would begin first with this as an outline for the diet. Be consistent with this. Do not "fudge" or go at it halfheartedly. Use these as the outline, and as the warnings:

25. Do not take fried foods at any time.

26. Do not eat white bread and potatoes.

27. Do not eat red meat at any time.

28. No hog meat of any kind.

29. The activities in these directions, then, would keep the digestive forces in better ordered condition.

30. After the heavier meal of the day, whether this is morning, noon or evening, take the Alcaroid. Once a day should be sufficient, if kept consistently. The dosage would be half a teaspoonful of the Alcaroid in two glasses of water; that is: Dissolve this quantity in a little water, then fill the glass full and drink; then fill the same glass full again and drink. This would be about twenty minutes after the heavy meal.

31. Prepare two quantities of the Toris Compound. One quantity would be prepared in half a pint of Spirits Frumenti - or Whiskey - as indicated on the package; and the other would be prepared with the Simple Syrup. Then combine the two, see? Put the Syrup of Sarsaparilla in BOTH quantities, see? do not leave this out of either one. The only difference would be one would be made with the Simple Syrup, the other with the Whiskey - preferably use the cereal rye or corn whiskey; but the BEST, not the cheapest! and with the other use the COMPOUND Simple Syrup, not just the plain syrup. Then put the two quantities together, after they have been prepared as indicated. Shake the solution before the dosage is taken, which would be a teaspoonful - not a tablespoonful, but a teaspoonful - four times each day; immediately after the morning, noon and evening meal, and before retiring.

32. Begin almost immediately with making adjustments - preferably osteopathically - in the lumbar and the dorsal areas; lower dorsals, through the lumbar and sacral areas; coordinating, to be sure, the upper dorsal and cervical with same - but the corrections, the subluxations would be relieved in the lumbar and lower dorsal areas.

33. Take these twice a week for about three weeks. Then rest from same a couple of weeks; but don't leave off because you feel some better! Then after two weeks, have another two weeks of the adjustments. These should be sufficient.

34. If the body will do these, consistently, as has been

1674-1 Page 4

indicated, we will find near to normal conditions within a few months.

35. Ready for questions.

36. (Q) Is any particular osteopath recommended? or is there one in Portsmouth who would cooperate? (A) WE would take one that is ABLE to handle the body; and one that is SOMEWHAT in sympathy with suggestions through this channel. Hudgins. Keep these, consistently, and we will bring the better conditions for this body.

37. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file [Remarks immediately after reading [1674-1]: For 14 months been suffering acutely with the rheumatic pains through back and portions of body. Doctors took out his tonsils and teeth, thinking they were the cause. No better.] (See separate sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Osteopath, and Druggist. At your convenience, we would appreciate your writing for us a history of your case to the time of getting the Reading. This is valuable for our files.)
