Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Michigan.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions that may be submitted, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes - we have the body, [1691].
3. In giving that as we find that may be the most helpful, the most beneficial to the body at this time, every phase of the experience through which the entity is passing should be taken into consideration.
4. For much of the physical disturbance, and that produces the irritations through the nervous reaction, arises from the natural adjustments and growth of the body towards being a creative energy and force within itself.
5. Hence the mental attitude the entity takes towards conditions, associations, activities and all, becomes at this time more and more a part of the whole physical being.
6. For just as habits and appetites for activities in associations with others become a part of the mental and the reactions in the sensitive forces of the nervous system, so are they builded to become a part of the whole experience - and must be met within self sooner or later.
7. Thus it would behoove the body to form, or to choose its ideal - in every phase of its experience. Know that indulgence in any form that is to gratify a social association or a mental attitude towards habit-forming activities becomes a part of the whole being.
8. We find that the disturbing conditions which exist in the present are of a minor nature in their physical reaction to the functioning of the organs of the system. However, the corrective measures now would prevent reactions that would produce greater disturbing conditions later on - just as habits which form mental and physical conditions which MUST be satisfied in some manner in physical expression.
9. Know that life and mind are eternal. Regardless of whether the choice is to act in this or that manner in
1691-1 Page 2
relationships to same because of the expedience of this or that, these are FACTS! Just as the existence is a fact; for it IS!
10. Thus every condition must be met in its own sphere of activity.
11. Know in what ye believe, then, as thy ideal. Know WHO is the author of that ideal. Not merely an idealistic ideal that may not be attained, either mentally or materially; but know that each ideal is constructive and is of a spiritual concept.
12. For AS the mind and the life are a part of the eternal consciousness, then ONLY constructive thought AND activity may MAKE for the better physical as well as MENTAL development!
13. The body is physical, mental and spiritual. These are one, and they manifest in materiality through the activities of the body-mental and the body-physical. But if the body is fed only upon that which is temporal in its concept, in its activity, then it MUST of itself become a burden sooner or later.
14. For only that which is good, that which is constructive, that which is true, that which is spiritual, CAN live - or DOES live ON and ON!
15. In the body-physical then of this body, [1691] we find these conditions existing - physically:
16. Through the reactions in the blood supply we find disturbing factors in which there is a lack of a balance in the chemical reactions through the system for proper assimilation and proper elimination of used energies. Some are destructive in their reactions - as is indicated in the manner in which there is a disturbance in the eliminations such as to cause poisons to attempt to be eliminated through the perspiratory system; or the abrasions, the pimples, the blackheads that form on portions of the system.
17. This indicates a toxic condition, or a lack of proper eliminations or coordinations between the eliminating systems.
18. We find that such an unbalancing was created or brought about first, primarily, by the change and not the normal balance established in the functioning of the glandular system as related to the eliminations.
19. Hence the warnings that the disturbances will become greater unless there are considerations given for the corrective measures to be used. First, there must be considered the correction necessary in the coordination of the cerebrospinal system, from which all organs receive their impulse for activity through the distribution of the
1691-1 Page 3
nerve energies from the cerebrospinal system to organs of the body.
20. Know that there is also the SYMPATHETIC nervous system that MUST coordinate with the impulses from the cerebrospinal system, in keeping a nominal or normal balance between the deeper circulation and the superficial circulation.
21. Hence with an unbalancing of the chemical reactions, the impulses for activities of the glandular system as well as the functional system become disturbed or clogged - as indicated in the manner of these disturbances to the superficial circulation, in the manner of eliminations.
22. This produces an impoverishment to the blood supply, making for an ABNORMAL character in the appetite, a deficiency in the energies supplied to the body for increasing or keeping a normal balance in the WEIGHT of the body.
23. These are also indicated in the manner in which there are the reactions to some structural portions of the body - as in the lack of proper enamel in the teeth. This shows a deficiency in the activity of the assimilating forces through the glandular reactions of the thyroids themselves - which is a portion of the corrective forces needed in the system as related to all the glandular system.
24. The lack of those activities necessary produces irritation, naturally, in the reaction to the nerve system.
25. For remember, as indicated, IMPULSES are created along the ganglia of the cerebrospinal nervous system! Then if these are made active in such a manner as to prevent the proper coordination between sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems, the activities in the reaction of organs of the system suffer - as indicated by the disturbances which arise in the mucous membranes of the throat, the nasal passages, the tendency for accumulations along the back portion of the throat of early morning, and especially if these areas are irritated with foreign usages of any nature or manner.
26. There are the tendencies for the body to take cold easily; the tendencies for the body to have a little headache after any unusual activity or after sleeping too long, or if becoming cold - or the irritation arises in the exceeding character, or the unactive forces of the DREAM of the body.
27. All of these are then as WARNINGS; that there be created rather a NORMAL balance in the system.
28. As we find, then, in making corrections for this body, [1691] - first we would give:
29. We would have at least ten to sixteen osteopathic
1691-1 Page 4
adjustments. These are to be a means of CORRECTIVE forces; NOT curative forces. They are to be GENERAL applications for mechanical adjustments along the whole of the cerebrospinal system, with especial reference given to the lower cervical areas, upper dorsal and the lumbar axis. These would be given about twice a week.
30. We would take internally a tonic as found in Codiron; two tablets each day, one with the morning meal and one with the evening meal - taken DURING the meal, preferably. Keep these for a considerable length of time; that is, until there is a change in the activity of the glandular forces of the system by the activity of the cod liver oil and iron as WELL as the vitamins found in same - that will act with the stimulated forces of the bodily functionings.
31. If with the first of the adjustments osteopathically there are the inclinations for the sniffles, or for a greater accumulation in throat, we would use an inhalant. But unless these inclinations occur, we do not find it necessary to use this. But if they DO occur, then we would use an inhalant prepared in THIS manner; not as a spray, not to be taken or used other than as an inhalant - inhaling the gases that form from the combination of these properties:
32. To 4 ounces of Grain Alcohol - in a 6 ounce container, large mouth glass bottle, prepared so that there may be two openings through the cork into the vacuum or the space above the solution, and these to be kept tightly corked when not in use - add, IN THE ORDER NAMED: Oil of Eucalyptus................20 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin.....10 minims, Rectified Creosote................2 minims, OIL of Turp.......................5 minims, Tolu in Solution.................20 minims.
33. Shake the solution when ready to use. Then remove the two small corks from the glass openings into the space above the solution. Inhale into the nostril the FUMES that arise.
34. This will clarify the conditions, preventing irritations, and will aid in clearing the throat - for it may be inhaled, of course, into the throat as well.
35. For those conditions that disturb the gums, local attention is needed for some of the teeth. But massage the gums each day, as well as the teeth, with Ipsab as a solution, see? Use this on a small tuft of cotton or on the finger itself. Afterwards rinse the mouth with a little warm OR cold water. But do this each day, just before retiring, for at least THREE WEEKS!
36. Now as to the diet:
1691-1 Page 5
37. Do not overcrowd the system with those foods that are hard of digestion. Make the activities of the system conform to a diet that consists of about twenty percent acid-producing to eighty percent alkalin-producing foods.
38. Do not eat fried foods at all.
39. Do not combine potatoes, white bread, spaghetti or beans, any two of these at the same meal; though all of these may be taken separately at DIFFERENT times.
40. Preferably have quantities of orange juice in which there is used at least half a lemon (or the juice of half a lemon) to each glass of orange juice; grapefruit juices or the grapefruit themselves; and pineapple juices. All of these are well. Or there may be taken lime with the orange juice.
41. Have at least ONE MEAL each day in which there is a raw vegetable or combination of raw vegetables taken. This may be taken with an oil or salad dressing if preferable. The combination would be of such as tomatoes, lettuce, celery, peppers, radish; any or all of these - or as many of these as may be taken. But let this be a part of one meal each day.
42. Meats should be preferably fish, lamb or fowl. No raw meats or rare meats or red meats. NEVER any hog meat of ANY nature.
43. Do these for three to four months - we will have increased weight and brought about a better balance, with better mental capacities for thinking.
44. And as indicated - in the mental self know in WHOM as well as in WHAT ye believe.
45. Be CONSTRUCTIVE! THINK constructively! Act constructively - never for indulgence or for body-glorification.
46. For the Lord thy God is ONE!
47. Ready for questions.
48. We are through for the present. Copy to Self through Mother " " Ass'n file (GD's notes at time of reading: See separate sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Osteopath; also for Druggist; Alkalin Diet List; folder explaining Ipsab and where obtained. Codiron is manufactured by The Lawrence Laboratories, Chicago, Ill. It comes in tablet form and sells for $1 a bottle.)
