Time of Reading 3:45 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Maryland.
1. GD: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1710].
3. As we find, the general physical conditions of this body in the present are very good; but the specific conditions as related to the muscular forces in the shoulder and arm are not so good.
4. To prevent there being created scar tissue in the muscles and tendons, that would eventually become a handicap - by any periods of excess acidity or uric poisoning, turning to a rheumatic or a neuritic condition, -
5. We would have the body TAPED - on that side and shoulder.
6. To be sure, this would for the time being hinder in some of the activities, but not to such measures as to prevent the body carrying forward the general activities - save the inconvenience.
7. At least once a week, then, we would have this shoulder well BAKED - that is, applying very hot applications and a general rubdown afterward. If it is necessary that the taping be repeated after such, then we would do this at least once each week.
8. As for osteopathic adjustments - it is only necessary that these be made at the time that the first taping is done. Then the physiotherapy and hydrotherapy treatments, - which would be a part of the baking and the rubbing and massage - should be sufficient to keep this in alignment.
9. As to diets and the general activities, these are very well if they are kept much in the line as has been indicated.
10. Do that.
11. Ready for questions.
12. (Q) Which shoulder should be taped? (A) The one that's hurt!
13. (Q) What kind of taping?
1710-5 Page 2
(A) Regular taping!
14. (Q) By the osteopath? (A) Physiotherapist would be the better.
15. (Q) What treatment should be followed to restore hair on head? (A) Eat the peelings of Irish potatoes. Eat persimmons as soon as they are in order - even the large persimmons are very well. And massage the scalp occasionally with any good cleanser (that is, soap), and then apply a little White Vaseline with the tips of the finger and massage thoroughly into the scalp. This should be done two or three times a week - that is, the Vaseline.
16. (Q) Would you suggest a good hydrotherapist in Baltimore? (A) Any good hydrotherapist.
17. (Q) Do teeth need any special attention? (A) Only the usual local attention.
18. (Q) Any further advice for the body? (A) We would DO this, and then be careful not to overstrain the shoulder by sudden jerks or any activities that might cause a fall, or pulling overhead or the like.
19. We are through with this Reading. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Physiotherapist. The only one we know of in Washington who might have had some contact with the Readings is Dr. A. B. Baden, Hotel Fairfax, 21st & Mass. Ave., N.W. He succeeded Dr. M. Bolkhardt, who had such wonderful success with one of our members in following the Reading suggestions. However, you might find a good one in Baltimore, since the directions don't seem to be so very specific; just the taping, the baking, massage and rubdown, etc.) tc.)
