Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York, N.Y.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1756].
3. Now as we find, there is a complication of causes as well as effects that are being produced in the system. We find that these in the main have been of some time standing, or have been a gradual disturbance with reliefs brought temporarily now and then - through stimulating of the coordination in the circulation as well as the eliminations increased.
4. As we find, there is a disturbance in the glandular system as related to the lymph's activity in eradicating or eliminating poisons from superficial circulation. There is also a disturbance in the liver or gall duct area, or the functioning of the activities of the liver as related to ITS functioning with the digestive forces of the body.
5. The resultant conditions as indicated are the complications as arise by pressures being produced in the centers through the system as related to the coordination of the locomotories as well as the functionings of some of the organs as related to the superficial circulation.
6. Hence we have areas where there is swelling at times. At others we have acute pain in portions of the system. This might be called a combination of arthritic and neuritic tendencies, or a nervous disturbance from the pressures of poisons in the superficial circulation owing to inactivity of the glandular forces as combined with the disturbance in the liver.
7. While the manipulative measures as may be osteopathically administered would be most helpful, we find that these would only quiet. There needs to be more, as COMBINED with same, the applications to stimulate to activity and to make for eliminating forces through the system as to bring the better

forces for the body.
8. The osteopathic treatments we would continue occasionally, then; once or twice a week for two or three weeks, and then a rest period from same of almost the same length of time - or for ten days at least, before other osteopathic treatments would be given.
9. For these will tend to produce some stresses that will make for overactivity, unless there are the stimulations in other directions.
10. We would then first begin with Atomidine taken internally; the first day one minim in half a glass of water, in the morning before any meal is taken. Each day increase the dosage one minim, until five minims are taken (on the fifth day).
11. Then leave off the Atomidine the next day (the sixth day), but take an Epsom Salts Bath instead. This is to be taken with at least sufficient quantity of water to cover the body, and the water is to be heated as much as the body can stand. Have a saturated solution; that is, the proportions being about twenty-five pounds of Epsom Salts in thirty or forty gallons of water. The body should remain in this for at least thirty minutes - submerged to the neck. During the time the body is in the water, it should be watched - and massaged gently while IN the Bath, see? as along the limbs and the extremities and the small of the back and through the shoulders.
12. When removed from the bath, have a thorough rubdown with a coarse towel, drying off well; then massaging the body all over with a combination of oils prepared in this manner:
13. To 2 ounces of Pine Oil - or preferably Pine Needle Oil - as the base, add - in the order named: Olive Oil.........1 ounce, Peanut Oil......1/4 ounce, Sassafras Oil...1/4 ounce. Shake the solution well each time before using, for it will separate. Then pour a small quantity into a saucer, and massage just what the body will absorb. With the tips of the fingers massage the body thoroughly. Beginning at the base of the brain, massage all along the spine, and all OVER the body - the limbs as well as the torso and spine. Let the body remain where the temperature is well up, so no cold is taken. Then afterwards have a thorough rubdown with rub alcohol to close the pores.
14. Then rest from the applications for a period of three days.
1756-1 Page 3
15. And then begin with taking Chloride of Gold and Bromide of Soda. These would be prepared separately and only added together when the dosage is to be taken.
16. The Gold Solution would be in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to one ounce of Distilled Water.
17. The Bromide of Soda Solution would be one grain to one-half ounce of Distilled Water.
18. Keep these separate, you see.
19. Begin with two minims of the Gold Solution and four minims of the Soda Solution in half a glass of water, in the evening before retiring, for three days. Then leave off for three days.
20. Then begin with the Atomidine again; THIS time letting the dose be gradually increased until eight minims are taken (on the eighth day).
21. Rest on the ninth day; then that evening take another of the Epsom Salts Baths, see? with the oil rubs following same, etc., as indicated.
22. Then have a rest period from the applications for three days.
23. Then for FIVE days take the Gold and Soda, see?
24. Then after that the rest period; then the Atomidine again, AND the Epsom Salts Bath AFTER the TENTH day - or after taking ten minims of the Atomidine on the tenth day, see, in the third round of taking it.
25. Then continue all of these in the order and manner indicated.
26. The manipulations would be taken for two or three treatments, then left off for almost the same number of days or periods, you see - as indicated.
27. And be careful as to the diet. Do not take great amounts of starches, but plenty of nuts, fruits and the like forming the principal part - or to be eaten mostly BETWEEN the meals. Potatoes and white bread should be left out of the diet. The Jerusalem artichoke should be a part of the meal at least twice each week, once raw and once cooked; eating one about the size of a walnut or small egg. When it is cooked, it should be boiled - preferably in Patapar Paper; not cooked too much, but sufficient to be done through, or mealy. This will form an activity to the pancreas and the glandular forces of the digestive system, as well as to the kidneys; for the amount of adrenal reaction from these properties is efficient and efficacious in the conditions as change with this body.
28. Do these, and we may bring the near to normal forces for this body, [1756].
29. Ready for questions.
1756-1 Page 4
30. (Q) I have a continuous headache and pain at the back of the neck. (A) As indicated, these arise from those disturbances indicated.
31. (Q) I do not sleep without a sedative. What shall I do to regain normal sleep? (A) When these suggestions indicated are carried out, and there is relief from the pains and stress through the system, the body even after the FIRST period of the Bath should have no trouble in sleeping.
32. (Q) What should I do for constipation? (A) Oils are preferable, until there has been the activity not only of the manipulations but the changes in the activities through the taking of the properties indicated. Usoline as an oil, and enemas to be sure when there is not an evacuation otherwise.
33. (Q) I suffer from depression and fear, fear of my condition and a fear of life and people. (A) These conditions arise from pressures upon the sympathetic nervous system and, as indicated, there is the incoordination between the superficial and the deeper circulation as related to the nerve forces as well as the bodily activities or functions. Do these things as indicated and we will eliminate the disturbances.
34. (Q) What causes aching pain, nagging pain in lower abdomen? (A) As indicated. It is part of the disturbance from incoordination between the upper and lower hepatic circulation. Do as has been outlined, if we would bring the better forces for the body.
35. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet [which was enclosed] of directions for Osteopath. At your convenience we would appreciate a history of your case to the time of obtaining the Reading. This is valuable for our files.) s.)
