This Psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of January, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1782], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [1724].

R E A D I N G

Born June 8, 1874, in Elmira, New York. Time of Reading 11:05 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Michigan.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces, and the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth's plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them.

2. EC: (In going back over years from present - " - '30 - yes - '22, '21, '20 - quite productive years - '98 - yes, quite a lot of travel" - etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [1782].

4. In giving the interpretations of the records here, these are chosen with the desire of making same a helpful experience for the entity at this time.

5. The entity's tendencies, inclinations and studies into all phases of mysticism and occult forces should aid the entity in making the proper application - for the mental AND the spiritual - in such measures and manners as to bring material manifestations; but most of all an understanding and a satisfaction in the mental and spiritual self.

6. Not all that has been the experience, that has been embraced in part, has proven to the entity the valuation of such in the experience; yet much has brought and does bring those satisfactions that little else has.

7. In choosing then the interpretations, while we find the astrological aspects as omens or signs, they have not run true in the experience as has been the pronouncement of some supposedly versed in such lore.

8. And this is not the fault of the idea but of the interpreting of same in relationship to the APPLICATION of the entity respecting its opportunities through material

experience.

9. As is comprehended, the entity is a part of the whole, the universe - all of that with which it has come in contact or may contact. And each individual or group is altered by the entity's application of constructive experience in associations with others.

10. For only good, as God, continues or is permanent.

11. The application of self as an entity, then, in relationship to things and conditions, and to other souls, is as the preparation for that which may be accomplished in the entity in fulfilling its purpose for which it entered this material experience.

12. For it is not by chance that the entity has been or is in this or that awareness of consciousness, but that each soul may become conscious of its relationship to Creative Forces through its application of its IDEAL towards its fellow man.

13. Then, as we find, the astrological influence is because of the association of the entity as an entity IN the environ; rather than the position of any planet or the astrological aspect of the zodiac or any constellation.

14. Hence as we find, those influences which have been accredited to planetary environs that are a part of this solar system are merely a part of the whole. And it is according to how an entity or individual applies or uses itself as to whether or not it is aware of such an influence.

15. Venus, Jupiter, Uranus, as Neptune - all become a part of the entity's environ. Hence we find one of high artistic temperament - creative forces as in writing, expression as in song being a part of the entity's experience. And the environ this creates makes for the ability of an influence as indicated in Jupiter, as well as making for the extremes as indicated in Uranus - as also the interest in occult forces, as well as the mysticism as of Neptune.

16. Hence water, that as may be termed the beginning of influence or sources of expression in materiality, always plays a part in the experience of the entity. Crossing large bodies of water. And those influences or activities for both good and bad in the extremes arise through such associations also. All of these are then a part of the innate and manifested forces of the entity.

17. Hence, in the present sojourn and experience, there becomes for the entity the desire for the knowledge of and the abilities for application - yet, as is ever indicated and found, the abilities are ever within. For the entity indeed is the temple of the living God, or the Creative

Forces, and THERE the self may meet not only its own self but its Maker in meditation, in prayer, as well as in choice of the application of its ideal in its relationships to others.

18. For indeed as the entity applies self in its relationships to others, so does it do unto its God.

19. What then is thine ideal? This should be the question of the entity, and: Do ye in thy application of thy abilities, of thy virtues, apply SINCERELY that ideal in dealing with thy fellow man? That should be the burden of the purpose, of the thought. Not by thought alone may ye change one iota of thyself, but in the application of the fruit of the spirit - love, gentleness, kindness, patience, longsuffering, brotherly love - these are the fruits of the spirit. Ye sow the seed of same in the lives of those ye contact day by day. GOD alone may give the increase.

20. Then let thy prayer ever be, "Here am I, O God! Use me, send me; that I may be a channel of blessings to someone today." This attunement brings the awareness of thy relationships, and whether ye give of thyself in the training, in the counsel of those who would use their abilities of voice, or their abilities of writing, - creative forces - these applied in thy experience will bring harmony, and the peace that He hath promised. Not as the world giveth peace, but only as He - the way, the truth, the immortal - may give to those who love His ways!

21. As to the appearances in the earth, we find in the present only a few are applicable, or that give definite urges; though the entity has passed through many in its reaching its present attitude, its present awareness of its relationship to Creative Forces and its fellow man.

22. Before this we find the entity was in what would be known as or called in the present the Danish land, during those ages or experiences or periods when many were seeking for the expressions in other lands.

23. Owing to the close association and affiliation with those in power or rule, the entity made little activity other than the aid to the some who were in acquaintance of the entity; in the name Clementine.

24. In the experience the entity gained, in its thought, in its expression, in its manifestation of thought of others and their desire to be free from the religious as well as political persecution.

25. Hence in the present these factors have been a part of the entity's desire for expression - FREEDOM of speech, freedom from the littleness of intolerance; the desire for the expression in song - as partakes especially of that

descriptive of experiences in the lives of individuals who are separated by that of class or position - the pastorals and the expression of same as related to the emotions of the heart and of material things. And the associations with those in position and power has been innately and manifestedly a part of the experience of the entity through this sojourn.

26. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as or called the Egyptian land, when there were those periods following the exodus of a peculiar people.

27. There again we find the entity among those peoples who sought for the comprehending of the activities in other lands.

28. And we find the entity aiding in the preparation for ways and means of the day for associations and connections by physical activity and associations.

29. Hence the preparations and manners of travel - and yet ships and waters are a part of the experience, as have been the experiences of the entity in its dreaming or day dreaming - the visions of the things or conditions that would influence men and nations in their activity towards those things as were handed down in manners such as even legendary folklore or legendary powers as attributed to individuals for their own development, but the greater for the release of influence or power for their fellow man.

30. The name then was Hep-Su-Tun. In the experience we find the entity made overtures, as it were, for a greater expansion - and the lack of hate or of power usurped.

31. These ALL become parts of the entity's innate forces and influences in the present.

32. Again we find the entity was active in what is now called the English land, among those first peoples who came into those lands from the South. This, as might be classed in time, was AFTER the Egyptian sojourn just indicated, - but in the developments and applications of itself towards those things pertaining to customs, the use of the voice, the use of instruments for reckoning and determining activities of individuals, the sojourn there becomes an influence in the present.

33. The entity was a princess of the royal families who journeyed there from the Persian land, or those coasts that were beyond the areas now called parts of Persia, Hindustan, or Tibet. For the entity journeyed far through those lands, as well as waters, during the experience.

34. Travel, new experiences, new emotions, new activities

are an innate influence arising in the desires from the experience of the entity then as Zed-Elpan.

35. Before that we find the entity was in the land now called the Posedion or Atlantean land, when there were the disturbances between the children of the Law of One and the sons and daughters of Belial.

36. The entity then was among those who sought the preservation of the records of the peoples of the Law of One, and induced those divisions that were sent out as emissaries to establish in the various stages or spheres of human endeavor those places for the preservation of such; the ENTITY to the Pyrenees land - and did not reach the Egyptian, nor hear from the other expeditions which the entity had caused to be established.

37. Then the entity was a leader, in the name Am-ee-lce.

38. In the present from that experience, then, we find the seeking for proofs, the hunting for hidden records, hidden treasure, hidden abilities in the lives of individuals, all become an innate and manifested part of the entity in the present.

39. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then, and that to which it may attain, and how:

40. First, as indicated, that self-analysis. Then the assisting in the depicting and the preservation of activities of those who are near and dear to the entity in material manifestation, or those influences or forces from those who are leaders in given directions.

41. Thus there may be, as it were, an ensample for those who take thought for the dedicating of their lives and their abilities for the preservation of the thought of truth and beauty and song, of wit, of humor, of those things that bring into the experience of individual souls through this material sojourn more of the joy and the beauty of an experience.

42. These done, these accomplished - much harmony, much peace may come to the experience of the entity in this material sojourn.

43. Ready for questions.

44. (Q) Have I been united with my husband, who passed on from this planet a little over two years ago, in previous incarnations? (A) More than once. In the Egyptian experience, the husband was then the father. In the Atlantean, he was the companion. In the experience through the Danish sojourn he was a very

close friend, but one who made the journey and represented the entity in a new land.

45. (Q) Is it well to foster the sense of continued communication with his spirit while we are separated by "death", so-called? (A) If this is for a helpful experience to each, it is well. Let it rather be directed by that communion with Him who has promised to be WITH thee always! and hinder not then thy companion, but - in such associations and meetings - give the direction to the Holy One.

46. (Q) Can you tell me whether there is any definite work I am supposed to do during the remainder of this life, and whether I should turn from all other pursuits in order to do it? (A) As indicated, this is a part of thy activity in the present: PRESERVE those purposes, those promptings of thy father in this sojourn - through the efforts of those who would depict his life.

47. (Q) Once when meditating on distant objects, I experienced the sensation of being unpleasantly suspended at a great height in the universe, with the result that for some time afterwards I feared the power of too effective a concentration of thought. Was there something wrong about the technique I used in trying to efface a sense of my physical ego? (A) Turn within, rather than holding to something above self. For know, the promise is that He shall meet thee within thine own temple. The technique, then, was in error. It is not above self, but within. For as ye raise the consciousness to that within self, He meeteth thee in thine own tabernacle, in the holy of holies; in the third eye, - NOT above same! The use of these meditations is advised, IF they are kept within thine own understanding.
