Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have those conditions, those disturbances for this body, [1812].
3. As we find, there are disturbing conditions. These have become and are becoming more of a chronic nature, or of a nature wherein these will be hard to deal with unless a greater precaution is taken as to the manner of living, and precautions as to the body-weight, as well as - especially - the purifying of the blood system and reducing the pressure that is caused by too much of those influences which tend to produce weight.
4. These are conditions as we find them for this body, [1812]:
5. The blood supply indicates the pressure as well as conditions within the blood stream that would not in the present make it best for any operative measures for the taking up or the removing of those disturbing conditions in the lower extremities.
6. These, as we find, would be inclined to be infectious forces, or to produce such; and too easily there might be a reaction that would be very detrimental.
7. The conditions in the nerve system are as much from worry as from a nerve disturbance; though, of course, the pressures of the poisons in system are a great contributor, as well as the inclination for the veins to cause a great deal of the trouble in the lower extremities by too much of grease, too much of meats, too much of those things that tend to make for an aggravating of the liver disturbance.
8. Hence the superacidity which produces the inclination for the body too easily to be subject to colds and congestions.
9. For there is the lack of the eliminations through the
1812-1 Page 2
activities of the liver, the spleen, and the overburdening of the pancreas produces that heaviness through the body.
10. As we find, in making applications:
11. We would in the present have the hot and cold water treatments, combined with the corrective forces as will be found in Backman's treatments.
12. These we would do; being mindful of the diet. No red meats. Little meat at all, and if it is taken let it be fish or fowl. No gravies. No butterfat. None of these should be a part of the diet.
13. Also, half an hour before each meal and before retiring, we would drink about two and one-half ounces of Grape Juice with about an ounce of water in same; NOT carbonated water, but the plain water. Keep away from all carbonated drinks; especially from any of alcohol or malt content.
14. Welch's Grape Juice is preferable, unless using the juice from the fresh grapes.
15. Do these, and as we find we may bring the better influences and forces for this body of [1812].
16. Do these rather in the present, at least until there is a purifying of the blood stream and a reduction in the toxic forces, and a reduction somewhat in the weight. Then, if it is necessary for operative measures for the cauterizing or the sealing of the conditions where the disturbance is indicated in the extremities, this may be much more easily done and without producing conditions that would become inclined to be such against which there might be had little or no resistance - so that a permanent disturbance in those areas might be produced.
17. Ready for questions.
18. (Q) Any exercise advised? (A) Only that as may be in keeping with the outlines from the one administering the treatments.
19. (Q) Any specific diet? (A) As indicated, keep away from those things - and then most anything else may be taken that is easily assimilated. But if the Grape Juice is taken, we will find the diet will adjust itself. But keep away from fats, greases, gravies and the like.
20. (Q) How long should this treatment be kept up? (A) For about four to six weeks.
21. (Q) If operation becomes necessary, would it be better to have Dr. Glaser of 3715-81st St., Jackson Hts., or Dr. Ellmore of Garden City to do the work? (A) As indicated, as we find, DO NOT have such until there is at least the purifying of the system. THEN if it becomes necessary, suggestions as to how, where, who, when, MIGHT be

given. But if the body responds, or if there is the least consistency with what has been indicated, we do not find that such should become necessary.
22. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet [which was enclosed] for Dr. Backman, with directions for treatments. Dr. Louis H. Backman, 40 West 55th St., N.Y. City.) )
