1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1846], present in this room.
3. Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the normal functioning of the physical forces with this body.
4. These, as we find, primarily have to do with the glandular system.
5. Then, these are the conditions, as we find them, with this body, [1846], we are speaking of, present in this room:
6. First, with the blood supply - this, we find, in many respects is very good, and most any of the tests would prove negative. But, as we find, from the hindrances which arise from those activities through the glandular system, the blood supply carries disturbances that produce an irregularity between the heart, liver and lungs - or the lungs, heart and hepatic circulation.
7. This, combined with the thyroid disturbance, tends to produce the plethora condition through that area of the bodily forces.
8. In the nerve forces - here we find a portion, or much of the cause of the disturbance.
9. For there has existed for some time, as we find, subluxations in the cerebrospinal system - so that, as might be termed, there have been produced cross activities or currents in the bodily functionings through impulses carried from the impoverishments to portions of the cerebrospinal and sympathetic systems - which has produced much of the disturbance in the glandular force.
10. This, as we find, exists in the 2nd and 3rd cervical, in
1846-1 Page 2
the 3rd and 4th dorsal, and in the lumbar axis.
11. These tendencies have caused the glandular forces, as related to the organs of the pelvis, to be abnormal at times in their activity, as well as a disturbance from same in the glandular forces as related to the assimilations through the activities between spleen, pancreas and the gall duct activity; the upper affecting the vagus center THROUGH those areas to the glandular force especially in the thyroid area.
12. Hence, we have varied activities in and through this area - periods when sufficient of calcium in the system has aided in PREVENTING the greater development of the thyroid disturbance. And when there is the greater activity of iodine in the system, this has kept the condition from developing.
13. Yet the CAUSES having remained, cause periods when all portions of the nervous system are affected, as well as the activity of the related forces between nerve impulses of the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal systems causing disturbance.
14. Periods arise, then, with the body in itself, when it becomes discouraged, disheartened easily as to the physical, the mental, the social outlooks. At other times it becomes an active force to those extents where it worries, as it were, about itself, and these adding to the general disturbance bring greater reactions of those influences and forces that cause anxiety to the body.
15. In the functioning of the organs themselves - here, we find, only the reflexes that are produced by subluxations, as indicated, and effects produced in the various portions of the body as has been indicated by the effect of the nervous forces upon the bodily functions.
16. These then are functional, NOT organic disturbances other than reflexes of the functional nature.
17. Hence, as we find, in making applications of those influences as may bring the normal conditions for this body:
18. First, we would remove the causes of the disturbance, which - owing to some of a long-standing nature, as to subluxations and impulses - will necessitate series of corrections and periods when the body would rest from such applications.
19. There will be periods when there will be great improvements, and others when the apparent tendency will be to revert to those disturbing forces.
20. But if there will be consistent and persistent application of those influences for the correcting of these, the absorption even of those accumulations about the thyroid glands may be accomplished so that the condition may be
1846-1 Page 3
removed entirely; and we should bring the better influences for the activity of the rest of the glandular system as related to all of the organs that are affected by such disturbances.
21. First, we would begin then with small quantities of Atomidine (which is iodine in atomic form) to stimulate the activity through the glandular forces for setting up drainages to cleanse the thyroid, the thymus, the glands as related to eliminations through the pelvic activity as well as through the digestive forces.
22. Take, then, one minim of Atomidine in half a glass of water each morning before any meal is taken. Do this for ten days.
23. Then leave off the Atomidine, and
24. Begin with the osteopathic adjustments; especially in the lumbar axis, the brachial area or the vagus center, - this from the 4th and 5th dorsal THROUGHOUT the cervical area. BUT DO NOT STIMULATE THE GLANDULAR FORCE ABOUT HEAD OR NECK, but the CEREBROSPINAL centers MUST be coordinated so that those impulses which have arisen will turn to the better elimination.
25. During the first period, take these treatments about twice or three times a week for what would be called two courses; or twenty-six such adjustments, see?
26. Then leave off these adjustments for a period of fifteen to twenty days.
27. And during such a rest period from the adjustments, take the Atomidine again; one minim each morning, as indicated, throughout the period.
28. Also each evening, throughout the period of fifteen to twenty days (preferably in the evening), we would use the Violet Ray (hand machine, throat applicator), for a minute or minute and a half; applying same around the back, the side of the throat and a portion of the thyroid area affected, you see; though not too great an application OVER the area itself, you see. This will tend to stimulate activities so that absorption and elimination would take place.
29. After this period, then have another series of about thirteen adjustments or applications osteopathically.
30. All of these followed consistently, persistently as indicated, should bring normal forces and influences for this body.
31. As to diet - we would give rather the Don'ts than the Do's; though we do find that the artichoke in its varied forms (there are three varieties) taken at least twice or three times each week would be very beneficial. Not too
1846-1 Page 4
much, that is, not too great a quantity at the meal when it is taken.
32. No fried foods. No hog meat of any kind. No red meat of any kind. Use preferably fish, fowl or lamb if meat is taken.
33. Plenty of vegetables ABOVE the ground, rather than those below the ground; though, the artichoke, as indicated, that grows above AND below, would be taken.
34. White potatoes, white bread, spaghetti or macaroni should never be combined with the others.
35. Sweets should preferably be of the natural sweets, such as honey, fruits or nuts, rather than cane sugar of any kind.
36. Do these, and - being persistent with the applications as indicated - we will bring normal forces for this body, [1846].
37. Ready for questions.
38. (Q) Is it possible to remove the goitre without an operation? (A) As just indicated, if there are the applications suggested, it will be removed without operative measures.
39. (Q) What physician would you suggest to make these corrections? (A) Hudgins.
40. (Q) Would you advise any specific treatment for the fallen womb? (A) This will be a part of the adjustments through the pelvic area, as indicated. This should not cause any greater disturbance. AS corrections are made in the lumbar and the dorsal area, this should come back to normal position. The occasional use of a douche with an Atomidine solution will aid in keeping the organs in the proper relationship as one to another. The percentage or the quantity would be a teaspoonful of Atomidine to a quart and a half of body-temperature water. This should NOT be necessary oftener than once a month. But, even after beginning the treatments, if or when there is great distress, use the heavy salt pack across the pubic center (heavy salt, heated, you see); this will tend to ease and to aid in keeping normal forces there.
41. (Q) An operation for this will not be necessary, then? (A) Should not be necessary. Do these things as indicated, as we find, and we will bring normal conditions for this body; not only aiding in correcting the physical disturbances but in bringing the better mental outlook - so that the repressions which have
1846-1 Page 5
existed will be eliminated from this system.
