1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes - we have the body here, [1853].

3. Now as we find - a very lovely person, but neglect on the part of one, or ones, administering or tending the body during the last period of confinement has left conditions in such a manner that - with the applications which have been made - there are some very serious disturbances, that prevent the better or normal functioning.

4. These as we find, then, are the conditions with this body, [1853].

5. As is indicated in the blood supply, there has been quite an unbalancing of the chemical reactions in the system. This is partially from the manner of suggested or maintained diet and, mostly, by those interferences in the nervous system that cause impulses for distribution of energies FROM assimilation throughout the body.

6. We have then in the blood supply the indications of the weakness which is manifested through the activities to the muscular force and tendons, especially through the lower limbs.

7. In the nervous system - here we find part of the source, as well as a source of affectation to the body-functioning, through those conditions as indicated.

8. For there is an unbalancing in the pelvic axis, as well as in what might be said to be the pelvis saddle.

9. But the activity or pressure upon the lumbar or pelvis axis, combined with the sympathetic forces, has affected or does affect the assimilating force or system in such a manner that, as combined with other influences outside, those areas and centers so affected - in knees, in lower limbs, through the pelvic area at times, through the calf portion of the leg, throughout the upper sciatic, across the

1853-1 Page 2

top of the hips and down through the pelvis at times - there comes such a stiffness! At others a very soreness, and an indication of some swelling about the end of the joints. These at times extend to the activity of the locomotory centers even through the brachial center to the arms and to those portions of the upper part of the body, sympathetically.

10. All of these, then, become a part of this complication of disturbance, which is - in one direction - a breaking down of coordination between the nerve systems of the sympathetic and cerebrospinal, and - mainly - through the lower portion of the body. In another direction, through the chemical changes as combined with the impulses, we have those inclinations for inflammatory forces in tendon ends, through the lack of proper nerve impulse, as well as those activities to bring better influences and forces for the body.

11. As to the applications that may be made, then for the bringing about of near to normalcy:

12. If there is consistency and persistency in following those changes as we find would be necessary to bring about these - according to the faith, the consistency with which these are applied, there will be the effects - or the regaining of normalcy for this body.

13. Follow these in detail, and AS they are given - ALL of same in the manner indicated. This will be as necessary a part of the procedure as the obtaining of knowledge as to the cause of the disturbance.

14. First begin with having every other day for at least ten days to two weeks a thorough, gentle but thorough massage by a thorough masseuse; with these properties, combined in the order given: Olive Oil...........................1 ounce, Peanut Oil..........................1 ounce, Oil of Sassafras Root.............1/4 ounce. These do not mix very thoroughly, but shake together - in the bottle - and then pour a small quantity into a saucer or open container. Dipping the fingers in same, massage all the body will absorb (from the palm of the hand from the masseuse, you see), across the lumbar and sacral area, following almost the full line of the top of the pelvis bone; then down the limbs, especially along the sciatic nerve to those areas under the knees and around the knees, and down to the feet themselves. This should be done thoroughly, massaging all that the body will absorb.

1853-1 Page 3

15. Then after resting a few minutes, the body may be massaged or sponged or rubbed off with rub alcohol; and then, of course - a little later - a thorough tepid bath.

16. After the oil rub has been given by the masseuse, in the manner indicated, for two weeks - then have - in the Dobbins' manner - those specific corrections made in the lumbar axis, through the sacral and ilium plexus, of those subluxations there.

17. The oil massage is given first as indicated, that there may be the relaxing and the stimulating of the circulatory forces; so that with the release of these impulses we may attain and keep that perfect coordination through the coccyx, the sacral, the lumbar and lower dorsal areas.

18. The most of the application, of course, would be BELOW the dorsals, but coordinating - after making the adjustments - the whole of the dorsal and cervical area to remove the tensions through the system.

19. Have at least sixteen such adjustments - at least that many. These should cover a period of twice each week, or three times if there is the severeness after the first two or three are made.

20. Then after finishing with these, begin with the use of the low vibratory forces of the Wet Cell Appliance carrying one day the Chloride of Gold, the next day the Spirits of Camphor. Each would be given every other day, you see, for at least thirty minutes; and the attachments would be made as follows:

21. The first day the small copper plate would be attached to the lumbar axis, while the larger nickel plate through which the Chloride of Gold Solution would pass (in the proportion of one grain to each ounce of distilled water) - would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct center, or three fingers from the umbilical cord center TOWARD the right side, see?

22. The next day the small copper plate would be attached to the 9th dorsal center, while the larger nickel plate - through which the Spirits of Camphor Solution would pass (full strength) - would be attached to the same as the day before - that is, to the umbilicus plexus, the same as indicated for the Gold; but the smaller plate to the 9th dorsal center.

23. Continue alternating the attachments and the Solutions in this manner, one day using one, the next day the other.

24. The vibrations from the Gold Solution are to act upon the nerve impulse as to be a creative force or to become activative as an influence to the glandular system through the assimilating body.

1853-1 Page 4

25. The Camphor vibrations are to be activative forces from the solar plexus center through the nerve forces to coordinate the upper and the lower portion of the centers through sympathetic or vegetative nervous system and the deeper or cerebrospinal nervous system.

26. When the Appliance is begun, we would also begin with the massage by the masseuse again.

27. Then, when the Appliance has been used every day for thirty days, and the massage following same as indicated, we would leave these off - both the massage AND the Appliance and we would begin AGAIN with some corrections osteopathically.

28. Through that period we should find near to normal activity returning - the use of the limbs, the release of all those pressures throughout the body.

29. In the matter of the diet - keep a body-BUILDING diet; that is, about twenty percent acid-producing to eighty percent alkaline-producing.

30. Have at least one meal each day consist principally of raw vegetables; as lettuce, celery, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, spinach - all of these - cabbage and the like. These may be taken in part or all combined, with a salad dressing. Let this be taken or adhered to especially through the periods when the osteopathic adjustments are being given, as well as the period when the low electrical forces of the Appliance are being active; for, from the energies of the vegetable forces, these will work well with the radial activities of the properties taken through the electrical forces vibratorially, as indicated.

31. No fried foods, ever. Never any hog meat of any nature. Fish, fowl or lamb may be the principal meats, if these are taken - rather than other meats.

32. Do these, and after the period has been reached when the second series of osteopathic adjustments would be made, we would give further instructions.

33. Ready for questions.

34. (Q) There is a constant dripping from the head into the throat, which leaves the throat sore and irritated mostly all the time. (A) If these massages and adjustments are made as indicated, we will find all of these conditions will disappear. For as indicated, first there must be the massages of the oils to make for the abilities of the system to respond to the removal of the pressures in the areas osteopathically. When these adjustments are made, as indicated, there should be the coordination between corrections in the lumbar and

1853-1 Page 5

sacral and the lower dorsal, with the cervical and the upper dorsal areas; and these will care for this impulse for the activity of the system attempting to adjust itself. Do as we have given, and we will bring the better forces for this body.

35. (Q) Are any of the conditions hereditary? (A) No! They arise from improper precautions being taken in the last period of confinement.

36. We are through for the present. Copy to Husband " " Ass'n file (3/29/39 GD's notes at the time of the reading: See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for masseuse. See extra set of directions [which was enclosed] for osteopath - Dr. Frank Dobbins, 551 Fifth Avenue, New York City. Leave these directions with him - when the time comes for this portion of the treatment after he has gone over the complete reading and made his notes on the case. See article [which was enclosed] explaining theory of Wet Cell Appliance. When the time comes for this part of the treatment, we would suggest that you get Dr. Mary Miller, 205 West 57th St., New York City, to show you how to make the attachments and set up the Appliance for use in your home. She has had experience with following this type of treatment. Also, if you would like to talk to someone who has used such an Appliance and understands the value of it, we would refer you to: Mr. [1497], ..., New York City. Let us know about two weeks before the completion of the series of treatments suggested, so we may make an appointment for the check reading to give further instructions.) structions.)
