Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., New York.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, there is near to what might well be called a nervous breakdown here - but of a type or nature where activities of organs are involved.

4. These arise, however, from those deflections which exist in the cerebrospinal system. While the correction of these conditions will aid, there will be the requirements of other applications along with same of some medical nature also, as we find.

5. (See, there's some excitement in this neighborhood.)

6. In giving those disturbances, the causes of same are as these, as we find with this body, [1898] we are speaking of:

7. In the blood supply there has been such a deflection of energies towards the eliminations, as exercised through the activities of the liver and the hepatic circulation, until there is such a irregularity with the circulatory center, or through the heart's activity, that it has produced a condition bordering on that of a digitans, or agitans; that is, a palsied effect through the system.

8. These in their activity have caused a great deal of anxiety through the mental influences or forces of the body, and the body has lost some weight.

9. These deflections upset the assimilating system, of course, and cause - through the activities - the dull, heavy feelings that come to the body, the inability of proper assimilating of foods, so much anxiety as of a little bit of disturbance through the nausea, the inactivity of or the improper eliminations through the kidneys.

10. All of these are working hardships upon the system itself.

1898-1 Page 2

11. As we find, there are specific deflections through those areas from the 3rd and 4th dorsal to the 9th dorsal, as well as through the lumbar axis. All of this tends to make for a great strain upon the nervous system of the body, especially the coordination between the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal, as would work through the centers in the lumbar axis or the brush end of the cerebrospinal, and those through the 9th dorsal and through the brachial center, or the first of the centers to the vegetative nerve system in the areas of the first cervicals.

12. The correction of all of these, as we have indicated, will materially aid; though the inclinations for temperature, through those poisons in the system, will necessitate that there be such activities in the eliminations through the system as would be produced through the taking of properties for a better digestive force through the system, as well as to enable the liver, the kidneys and the spleen to become more active.

13. As we find, then - but, of course, under the supervision of a medical physician - these are the properties that would be the better for this body, combined in this manner:

14. Make three capsules, EACH containing the following ingredients: Podophyllin.................1/4 grain, Leptandrin....................1 grain, Sanguinaria...................1 grain, Dovers' Powders...............1 grain. Take one of the capsules each day for three days. This should be sufficient. As we find, these should be given with PLENTY of water being taken at the time. Take one capsule each evening for three days.

15. Following the taking of these, even after these properties have acted upon the system, there should be a thorough cleansing of the alimentary canal with high enemas, so that the effects of these properties may be removed; for the Leptandrin and Sanguinaria, as well as the Podophyllin, will act upon the gastric flows through the liver. While some of these are severe, their reaction should not be so if combined with the others in the proportions as indicated.

16. During the period that these properties are being taken, there should be practically a liquid or semi-liquid diet for the body.

17. In the general diet we would include Jerusalem artichoke at least three times each week, WITH the other foods - for the activities of the properties in same will act with the

pancreas and supply to the circulatory system sufficient of those properties to stimulate a better activity for the body.

18. Best not to undertake to tax system by overactivity or work during the three or four days that the medicinal properties are being taken.

19. After the system has been cleansed by the taking of the properties indicated, then the general osteopathic applications should tend to STRENGTHEN the body materially, so that it may resume its activities.

20. IF there is the tendency then for the continued weakness, it would be well for the low vibratory forces of the Diathermy to be used - this to be only as heat to the body and not as a reaction to the system itself.

21. Of late afternoons when first returning home, we find that red wine as a food - not as a drink - would be very strengthening, and well for the body. This would be taken only with black or brown bread; about two ounces each afternoon - about thirty minutes to an hour or so before the evening meal - would be materially aiding to the body. This should not be begun, though, until three or four days after the cleansing of the system is accomplished.

22. Do these, if we would bring the better forces for this body, [1898].

23. Ready for questions.

24. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See separate notation [which was enclosed] for druggist in preparing the capsules. If you wish us to have our local druggist send these to you - that is, if you have trouble getting them from YOUR druggist - let us know and we will have them mailed to you immediately. It is better to have four or five such capsules prepared, in case you drop or lose one - but only take the three as indicated. See extra sheet [which was enclosed] to be given to the Osteopath when you are ready for these treatments. We would refer you to Dr. Frank Dobbins, 551 Fifth Ave., New York City. At your convenience, please send us a history of your case to the time of the Reading.) ing.)
