Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them, regarding his condition.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1901].

3. As we find, there is rather the complication of disturbances which affect the body. These affectations are in the lymph circulation, and affect the soft tissue in head and face; and the combination of conditions that are a part of the digestive forces becomes an outgrowth, being the effect of conditions which have been brought about in the system through this complication.

4. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [1901] we are speaking of, present in this room:

5. In the blood supply - this is to be considered not only from the activity as related to the superficial circulation but from the standpoint of the elements or constituents of the blood stream itself.

6. This differentiation or variation is effected by the applications which have been made - and which are beneficial, yet do not reach the causes, or do not make the corrections in same, but are rather as a helpful influence for the body.

7. We find that this disturbance in the blood stream is a form of condition that causes portions of the system to receive excesses of coagulative forces. Hence we find that adhesions or lesions form quickly at times through the system, producing pressures upon the nervous system in areas where the portions of the body are under stress.

8. Hence the acute conditions which arise, when there is any inflammation as from cold or congestion, through the antrum and the sinus and even in the throat and larynx at times; as

1901-2 Page 2

clogging, as heaviness to those portions of the system.

9. At other periods we will find that from the very same cause there will be a different complication, when certain characters of foods or activities of the body will affect the lymph flow through the trunk portion of the system. Or, though the upper digestive area we find the lymph pockets, as it were; causing gas pressures in the abdominal area, even a little nausea at times; and distresses to portions of the system as to affect even the locomotion.

10. All of these are as symptoms of that which is the basic condition in the system.

11. In the nerve forces of the body - here as we have indicated - the applications for the superficial circulation aid by relaxing; and this enables the body to receive better stimulation through the activities of the body; thus causing a better reaction in the hepatic circulation throughout the activity of the liver, the pancreas, the spleen. All of these are aided by such applications; yet the BASIC condition - being a part of this very congested area - is not removed.

12. Hence at times we have these organs affected sympathetically, as well as directly. Eliminations become poor, activities of the kidneys irregular; and these bring distresses in the body, as we have indicated - the removal of which has NOT eliminated the BASIC forces.

13. Hence the metabolism alters, the katabolism is MOST disturbed - the abilities of the system to bring to the various portions of the system the functionings as should be supplied to equalize not only the glandular system but the functioning organs themselves.

14. As to the organs and their activity - brain forces, brain reactions and their reflexes are good.

15. Coordination between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system is not always good, as indicated; yet it is aided by those applications which stimulate a relaxation of the system. This then leaves the activities of same disturbed, but more sympathetically - save in liver, and pancreas, and spleen. These are the basic forces, and as the metabolism of the system becomes disturbed it brings a shortness of circulation between the heart, the liver and the kidneys; though no organic heart disturbance, but a sympathetic AND a nervous condition exists there; that should be alleviated, with the applications which we will indicate, as also should be those conditions which cause or produce disturbances.

16. In the activity of the lower hepatic circulation, and the engendering of activities to the glandular force - as from the adrenals and the effect upon the kidneys, the

1901-2 Page 3

bladder, the prostates - all of these become at times distressed, rather than diseased; or the body becomes aware of their presence, their functioning.

17. This gives a SYMPATHETIC distress to the system.

18. Then, in making applications which as we find would be most beneficial, that would remove the disturbances.

19. First, we would begin with the hydrotherapy applications, but in this manner that we will indicate, and on those days or periods when it is possible; for we should take about two hours twice a week for these applications.

20. Apply first the hot Castor Oil Packs over the liver AND the lower abdominal area; these should be of heavy flannel wrung out of hot Castor Oil, and applied as hot to the body as the body can stand. Then apply an electric pad over same, to keep as warm as the body can stand, for an hour.

21. Then, after this have a Bicarbonate of Soda Rub or BATH; that is, a weak soda solution massaged over or across the abdominal area, along the spine.

22. And THEN have the Sitz Baths.

23. Then have the general massage and rubs.

24. And in the latter portion of such applications, we would use an equal combination of Mutton Tallow (melted), Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor, to massage over the vegetative nerve center to the head; that is, the head nerve centers in the neck, base of the neck, around the ear, across the temple, across the face and the antrum, and the soft tissue across these portions of the body, and the sinus. Massage in this combination thoroughly, and then - while the other portion of the body is being massaged - apply a flannel wrung out of a saturated solution of Epsom salts, that these areas may be relaxed (the areas that have been massaged with the combination, you see).

25. Occasionally, about once or twice a month - twice in the beginning - at the period between the Sitz Bath and the general massage as outlined - we would have the High Colonics, to alleviate the tensions in the abdominal area, through the colon, through the caecum area of the adhesions there that have been and are a portion of the disturbance, causing a proplapsus in the colon - as may be indicated by these activities.

26. Give the Colonics GENTLY, not hurriedly nor in such a manner as to dilate the colon too severely.

27. For such Colonics we would use two heaping teaspoonsful of table salt and one level teaspoonful of baking soda to each half gallon of water used. These affectations will be to the circulation of the blood supply and the lymph and emunctory through the abdominal area.

28. Keep these up; and keep those applications that are made at periods - as indicated - of the ultra-violet ray light, for STIMULATING the circulation.

29. Then, as to the diets: Here we find there are the needs for the activities through the system to be changed somewhat, as to their chemical reaction; so that these do not tend to thicken nor to stimulate the activity of the leucocyte in the blood stream.

30. Hence no red meats at any time. Not a great deal of sugar. When sweets are used, rather use honey in the honeycomb. Pastries are to be eliminated.

31. Fowl or fish should be the principal meats.

32. Use a great deal of raw vegetables. These should be included in at least two meals each day. They may be varied in their combination so as not to become something obnoxious to the body.

33. Do these, and we will find bettered conditions for this body, [1901].

34. Ready for questions.

35. (Q) What was the original cause of this condition? (A) An unbalancing of the activities of the assimilating system, and a disturbance in the liver and pancreas.

36. (Q) What caused this? (A) Chemical unbalance, as just given.

37. (Q) How long should the prescribed treatments be continued? (A) They had best be given for a period of, say, three weeks; left off for a period of two weeks; then given for another period of three weeks; then left off for a month; then have another period of one week. WE would suggest that these be given through the Reilly applications.

38. (Q) Are all the treatments to be given on the same basis, and for the same length of time? that is, the applications for the head and face also? (A) As these are a combination or a complication of disturbances, it would be well that these applications in their entirety be kept working one with another. For, as some portions of the disturbances contribute to the causes of the others, we would keep the equal period of treatments for all of these. At those periods when there is the tendency for cold, or for the aching through the face and antrum, we would use an inhalant, prepared in this way and manner; not as a spray but inhaling the fumes of same:

1901-2 Page 5

To four ounces of Pure Grain Alcohol, add - IN THE ORDER NAMED: Oil of Eucalyptus........................20 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin.............15 minims, Oil of Turp...............................5 minims, Tolu in Solution.........................30 minims. Put this compound in a container at least twice the size of the quantity, or an 8 ounce bottle, preferably colored, and having a large mouth through which there would be two entrances through the cork to the vacuum above the solution. The two small vents would also be corked, except when being used. Shake the solution well when ready to inhale, removing one cork and opening the other so that it may be inhaled as one would a cigarette or a deep breath through the nostrils, and into the mouth. This acts as an antiseptic, also alleviating those conditions as will be eliminated from the areas by the use of the compound to be massaged, and also the massage along the spine, given after the abdominal treatments indicated.

39. (Q) Considering the physical condition of the body, would it be wise or advisable for him to undertake the development of any latent psychic abilities? (A) When there has been the alleviation of those disturbances in the nerve system, this WOULD be very well. The positiveness of the mental body is excellent, and thus FITS the body for the control over other minds and bodies. DO NOT use or develop same unless it is EVER to be constructive for others, and not for self-indulgence or self-aggrandizement. This may be made MOST helpful for minor ills and conditions in both mental and physical conditions for others. Never for experiments, as for what might be made a show or the like; but constructive - and as ye give, ye will receive. Do not attempt such until the physical body is in a better responsive condition.
