1. HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1902].
3. Now as we find, there is somewhat a complication of disturbances that have gradually been built up through the deflection of energies to portions of the system, and the reaction or the effects of such deflection upon the functioning of organs.
4. These then are the disturbances as we find them with this body:
5. First, in the blood supply there is the indication of how the toxic forces produce pressures upon the nervous system, especially in arms and limbs, or in the centers of the locomotory forces.
6. This is a form, then, of neuritic reaction.
7. These effects arise from the inactivity of the liver and the lack of proper eliminations through the alimentary canal.
8. Thus with the deflected influences by subluxations in the cerebrospinal system, as related especially to the sympathetic or synthetic nervous system or superficial activity, disturbances have been brought in the organs especially of the sensory system.
9. Hence those conditions wherein the body easily becomes tired from most any activity - thus producing a burning sensation in the lids and even at times inflammation to the cornea.
10. These arise as synthetic or sympathetic conditions, - which may be materially aided by making for the corrections through other portions of the system.
1902-1 Page 2
11. These deflections as we find are mainly in the upper dorsal and through the lumbar and sacral areas. These cause the deflection such that, as indicated, there are disturbances in the digestive forces as related to the activity of the liver itself - as well as causing a plethora condition in the colon area.
12. All of these combined make for disturbing influences. It is rather then a complication of not organs but the reflex or sympathetic conditions with the organs and their effect upon the whole of the nervous system.
13. As we find, these may be materially aided if there is the consistent and persistent application of those influences and forces which we will suggest, to make for or bring about the corrections in the system.
14. Begin first with osteopathic adjustments; as would be made in the lumbar and especially the 3rd and 4th dorsal and then throughout the cervical, to set up drainages.
15. When the manipulations are made, make specific reference to the dorsal and cervical centers from which the optic forces receive their impulse.
16. These treatments should be given at least twice every week, until at least sixteen to eighteen treatments are given - or twenty treatments.
17. After the second osteopathic treatment is given, we would begin with taking a level teaspoonful of Eno Salts each morning before any meal is taken. Take this consistently for seven days. Then leave off for three days. Then begin again and take for seven more days. Keep this up for at least four ROUNDS of seven days each, having a three-day rest period between each round of taking same. This, of course, is a fruit salts which is to act upon the alimentary canal. This would be taken along WITH the osteopathic treatments. Do not take one without the other!
18. Throughout the period be mindful that there are no fried foods taken. The meats should consist only of fish, fowl or lamb - if taken at all.
19. Preferably have one meal each day consist principally of raw vegetables. This may be in the form of a salad with an oil or salad dressing. Not altogether, but most of the meal should consist of such.
20. Refrain especially from white potatoes and white bread.
21. At the end of each seven-day round of taking the Eno Salts, it would be well that there be taken a high enema. The first TWO SHOULD BE colonic irrigations, given by one understanding such, to reduce the plethoric condition in the ascending colon.
22. Do these in a consistent manner, and we will find we
1902-1 Page 3
will bring bettered conditions for this body.
23. By the last of the series of taking the Eno Salts, we should find a much improved condition - if all the other suggested applications are followed in the manner indicated.
24. Ready for questions.
25. (Q) Are the glasses necessary and are they proper? (A) We will find these will need changing AFTER the periods of treatments and corrections. But these are necessary when doing fine work or reading.
26. (Q) What exercise should the body take, and when? (A) Any nominal or normal exercises are very well. No specific or special.
27. (Q) What diet should the body take? to bring to normal size? (A) As indicated.
28. (Q) Are my teeth and gums in good condition? (A) Local attention is needed. Do as we have indicated, if we would bring the better forces for this body.
29. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet [which was enclosed] of directions for Dr. Dobbins. Eno Salts may be purchased at drug store. For the first two colonic irrigations, to be given during the rest periods between the first two seven-day rounds of the Eno Salts, we would refer you to The Reilly Service, R.C.A. Bldg., N.Y. City - provided these cannot be obtained in Dr. Dobbins' office. The high enemas AFTER THAT may be given at home.) e.)
