1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1906].
3. Now as we find, the general physical conditions are very good.
4. There is rather a disturbance that may be easily adjusted in the present, that would prevent the disturbances which now arise in the generally physical forces, which without adjustment or correction will gradually build disturbances of a nature that may become quite disturbing - and some that may become constitutional.
5. For these are beginning to involve the emotional body, through those tensions which are existent in the nervous system.
6. These, then, are the disturbances as we find them with this body, [1906] we are speaking of, present in this room:
7. In the blood supply we find there are indications of a taxation through the abdominal area that causes conditions in which at times excess acidity becomes rather the disturbing condition.
8. However, these arise from other disturbances that we find in the structural portions that prevent a normal impulse through the nervous system, and thus involving the organs of the pelvis as well as the general nervous system.
9. As we find, from those conditions which arose from not the full or proper corrections after childbirth, there are those subluxations in the lower lumbar, and especially the lumbar axis and the coccyx end of the spine; so that the pressures from these involve the nerves to the ovary as well as to the system through the pelvic organs.
10. Thus we have through the abdominal area those periods
1906-1 Page 2
when there appear hindrances in the eliminations through the alimentary canal, as well as periods of disturbance through the general eliminations through the periods.
11. All of these become a part, then, of the disturbance.
12. This pressure upon the nerve system involves the activity to the very IMPULSES to the nervous forces of the body.
13. As combined with this we also find that in the 2nd and 3rd dorsal, and a portion of the cervical, there are those deflections which cause, with the least acidity, the inclination for the body to easily take cold, or to have the hot or cold sensations through the face, head and neck, and disturbance through the nasal passages and in the antrums - and the nerves to the auditory system.
14. All of these become affected, then, through the NERVOUS SYSTEM - being the sympathetic reactions from the combination of disturbances as indicated - to the nerve impulses.
15. Hence irritability at times becomes so disturbing as it were to the body. At other times we will find the effect becoming rather as the inability to gain the proper rest from the attempts for sleep or the like, or insomnia, - through those pressures upon the nervous system.
16. These as we find are the general conditions, and those reflexs from these become rather a part of the general condition of this body, [1906] we are speaking of.
17. Then, in making correction of the conditions which exist, we find there must be considered the tendencies in those directions that have made pressures upon not only the organs that function with the glandular system but - through such - a deficiency in the vital activity or vital forces as come to be part of the glandular secretions.
18. Hence there must not only be administrations made for the correction of those pressures which exist in the structural portions and thus deflect the nerve energies, but so build those activities where there are deficiences in the vital forces or vitamins to the body that we may create a normal balance.
19. These as we find, then, would be the method.
20. And we should find normal conditions for the body at the end of some six to twelve osteopathic adjustments; with the special reference to the coccyx, lumbar area; coordinating the 9th dorsal and the drainages from the general system as combined with the correction of the subluxations in the upper dorsal and a portion of the cervical centers.
21. Also, about twice each week, just before retiring, we would use a little of the low electrical forces as would be
1906-1 Page 3
given through the Violet Ray (hands machine, bulb applicatory only). Do not turn on too heavy. Use this over the cerebrospinal system, and ACROSS the diaphragm area; taking about two to fifteen minutes to give the whole of the treatment.
22. We would begin taking also the Codiron, which combines the properties as a tonic and supplies vitamins A, B-a, G and D for the system in the proper proportions for body-building; aiding through these to keep for the better eliminations; stimulating the assimilating system so that the activity of the forces will make for the normal balance throughout the system. Begin with only ONE pellet taken with the noon meal. After taking it in this manner for about a week, then increase to two pellets a day, one at the noon meal and one at the evening meal. Then, after taking two a day for about two weeks in this manner, leave off entirely for ten days; and then begin again with the two pellets again. And we will find that this, as combined with the osteopathic adjustments and with the vibratory forces from the electrical energies of the Violet Ray that create a stimulation to the nerve ends, should bring near normal forces for this body.
23. Do these, then, we will find we will bring the normal conditions.
24. Ready for questions.
25. (Q) Is there any lack of vitamins or elements in the diet that could be affecting the eyes and teeth? (A) This is more, as we have indicated, from those subluxations in the brachial area that affect the body through the coordination of the vegetative and sympathetic nerve forces to the sensory system.
26. (Q) Is there any weakness of the lungs? (A) Only those tendencies from nerve energies. These may all be built up by the use of those properties and tonic as we have indicated in the Codiron. It would be well for the body to take this a regular intervals, you see, for a period of three to six months. And we will find that with these elements added, and with the osteopathic corrections and the vibratory forces combined with same, the conditions should be corrected.
27. (Q) Is the body emotionally normal? (A) Nominally normal, but - as indicated - with the disturbance to the portions of the system involved - it becomes at times IRRITABLE.
28. (Q) What is the meaning of the appearances that disturb the sleep? (A) Only the attempts of the physical and the mental being
1906-1 Page 4
to coordinate themselves. Do these as we have indicated, and we will bring normal forces for this body, [1906].
29. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet [which was enclosed] of directions for Osteopath. We would refer you to Dr. Curtis Hudgins, Bankers Trust Bldg., Norfolk, Va. Show him the whole Reading also, but leave these specific directions with him when you start the treatments.) )
