This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 21st day of June, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1934], Association Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by her mother, Mrs. [1841], and by Mr. David E. Kahn.

R E A D I N G

Born October 20, 1906, in Omaha, Nebraska. Time of Reading ... Road, 5:00 to 5:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., New York.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records of that entity now known as or called [1934]. [GD's note: Above was obtained June 3, 1939, 9:45 A.M. - then "There are impressions here that are very bad. We will leave here for the present." Then, when beginning again on the 21st, there came: "Yes, we have had this record here before."]

3. In giving the interpretations of the records here, we find a very unusual entity - one that appears many-sided to its friends and associates.

4. One that is very demure, and yet innately is exercised over conditions about the entity of the very opposite nature.

5. Almost a true Uranian.

6. There are unusual abilities in the experience of this entity and as to whether there arises in this experience and unusual or out of the ordinary development, or a retardment, will depend upon the application OF these abilities.

7. Being an active influence under the Uranian AND the Atlantean group coming into the earth at the present, we find those experiences that should be in this and the coming year the turning points in this sojourn.

8. As indicated, but without respect to what the entity does so but same - and as an activity indicated by both the astrological and the earthly sojourns, we find these are

innate in the experience of the entity:

9. One that may be very definitely given to the arts - as of music or of painting, as a MEANS of expression in its associations or terms with others.

10. Hence through either of such channels may the entity make for the contributions to the experiences of the many that may bring the greater hope, the greater expectancy, the greater patience in the experiences of others.

11. From the astrological sojourns we find, as indicate, the Uranian forces are predominant. Thus the extremes that have been and may be in the experience of the entity. This is dependent a great deal upon the manner of application in its relationships to both the physical and the mental emotions of the body.

12. To be sure, the entity becomes easily discouraged, but just as easily it finds means of expression of elation, or periods when there is elation without even the semblance of that materially which might cause or produce same. In the same manner there may be those experiences where others would proclaim to the entity, "See, you have the opportunity for this or that," and to the entity it appears rather as hindrance - and not knowing exactly why.

13. Many of these may be inferred from the appearances, both from the astrological and the material sojourns - as we have indicated from the Uranian influences of extremes.

14. In Venus we find rather the adverse influences, unless there is the balancing of self through the spiritual as well as the physical emotions. For the entity becomes rather intense, and thus is rather one that doubts at times when others attempt to make for those activities that would induce or proclaim their feelings. And at other times the entity appears intense when there are reasons to suspect there might have been infidelity, even in the associations or experience with others - not only of the own sex but of the opposite sex also.

15. In this experience, then, we need rather that there be the expression through the love of the beautiful, the love of the rhythm and harmony as may find expression in the musical application of the stringed instruments, especially; whether the piano, the guitar, or ANY of those - the harpsichord or lyre or harp. Any of these are the channels, or the instruments through which greater expression may be made, or had, than through horns or pipes or the like.

16. Then, in the application, there should be the beauty of same as seen in rhythm, in harmony, in the activity that gives an expression of the beautiful emotions.

17. Do not fight against them, nor be so submerged IN them

as to lose sight of the spiritual aspects of same.

18. In the Jupiterian influence we find both the beneficial and the very bad, where the experience deals with groups or the masses - because of the very associations of same with the ruling influence in the experience of the entity.

19. Yet, to be sure, it IS the masses, it is the numbers of people that must show the expression, the appreciation as to the abilities of the entity, for there to be the feeling or the hope for either material or mental success of the entity.

20. Again remember that all such is rather of the INDIVIDUAL nature; and while there are great abilities in the entity for giving individual instruction or individual appreciation of harmony, of such a rhythm or of such beauty or such expression, there needs be rather the expression in the manner or way in which the entity may be MOVED by the masses - rather than the individual - to find the outlets for the greater expression.

21. In Saturn we find changes do and will come. These are not NECESSARILY, however, in the way of the extremes. Yet Uranus being the greater or stronger influence in the experience of the entity, there may come extreme changes, - but they will come rather from the associations or activities with others, than through the efforts or the shortcomings of self.

22. Hence there needs be that there be the greater dependence upon self, and self's abilities, self's assurance, not only in the material sense but in the abilities to think, the abilities to apply spiritual attributes in its relationships to others.

23. This is one of those influences the entity should learn the more.

24. As to the appearances in the earth - as indicated, - these are quite varied - these are quite unusual, as will be seen from the experience before this:

25. Then, before this we find the entity was in the English land, during those periods when there was a great deal of the reconstruction after there had been the losing of the expression of individuals and groups to a greater extent for an individual purpose, or an individual ideal.

26. Hence we find the entity becoming as one very extreme in its activity, in its association and relationships, and its abilities to give a great expression for peoples and to thus sway the masses - by not only its song and its music but by the abilities to depict in its music the song of the wanderer the song of the warrior, the song of the victor, the song of the vanquished; and especially the children's

song at sunset, at twilight, at the periods when there are those longings for the home times.

27. Hence the entity will find, in its present experience, such as these will become the chief outlet - if the entity does not allow the very emotions that will be created by same within self to become as a drudge or drain upon the self for such an activity.

28. The name then was Charloe Wentworth.

29. Before that we find the entity was in the land when the Master walked in the earth.

30. We find the entity was among those who were of the land of the Master's nativity in that experience, but rather of those to whom the Master came in the outer coasts of the land.

31. An the entity was in the land of the Gadarenes when there were the experiences with those who came from the tombs, as well as those experiences recorded as that the spirit of those - or of that one possessed - entered the swine.

32. The entity then was of the household of the OWNER (not the keeper) of those swine.

33. Hence through that experience the entity came directly under the touch and acquaintance of Jesus of Nazareth. For, as was a part of the experiences of the peoples of that day or period, the entity was among those who at times looked after such of their household effects.

34. In the experience and under those activities the entity learned gentleness, kindness, patience - as was shown in the gentle manner in which ALL were answered who raised their voice in criticism of the activities of that particular experience.

35. Hence we find in the present a longing for the unusual, - the experience of being aroused deep within by things that happen from the unseen sources; yet the entity attempts - even though the Uranian influence makes for the interest within self in the occult forces - to keep itself way from phenomena of a questionable nature to the mental self - and yet a longing deep within to know if there is not some touch, some attunement with a something that answers from within self - FROM that experience on that morn when the master called Mayrah.

36. In the present from same - listen more to the voice within, as ye would apply the fruits of the spirit; being more gently and more kind, not merely because of the psychological effect that may be created or the impressions that may be given to others, but because it brings within the answer which is so oft a part of self - that "They that

would know God must believe that He is," and not the pessimistic answer that He is a rewarder of them that seek Him, but rather that which is implied in that the Master gave, "Love ye one another." Not merely because ye feel better, but because it is the glorification of that as ye heard on that Sunday morn.

37. Before that we find the entity was in the land when the children of promise were among those who were carried away captive.

38. There we find the entity was among those of then Chaldean or Persian land, during those periods when there were the activities under Nebuchadnezzar; and there we find the entity was among those whom the lords of Nebuchadnezzer's army had besieged.

39. Thus we find the entity was coming into those activities in which persecutions were not exactly the nature, because the entity became a slave, for the slaves in that experience were those who were learned in the arts or in what ye call science, or in what ye call beautiful speech or poetry or art, or ALL of those things. For that was thought by those to be rather only the work of those who had the time or the period to devote to such study.

40. Again, then, we find the entity gave expression in song, in music upon the harp - not in the shape of the harp known today, but the harp of the period, that was much in the shape of a butterfly wing.

41. But the longings for the hills of its native land, the songs of the peoples for those periods of sacrifice - the songs for those periods of rejoicing - all brought to the land that which eventually - through its evolution in the hearts and minds of those peoples - brought redemption FOR the entity's people that came again in the much later periods to its own land again.

42. The entity did not see the land - it in the material plane knew little of that which brought such about, yet deep and innate within self is felt, from the activities, the JOY of being good - not only because of its innate abilities but the harmony as created within the very BEING itself, and the great abilities that may arise in the experience of those who PRACTIcE such in their daily life.

43. The name then was Estha - of the peoples led away by the first of the armies of Nebuchadnezzar FROM the regions about Jerusalem - and of the daughters of Rechab.

44. Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land during those periods when there were those activities which necessitated the dispersing of many of the children of the law of One to other lands.

45. There we find the entity was among those who came into the Egyptian land - and with those periods of reconstruction became very closely affiliated or associated with the Natives who had been a part of the Rebillion through those periods.

46. And with the acceptance of the activities of the Atlanteans, and the correlation of same with the tenets of the Priest and those of other lands, the entity rose to be among those of the Natives who were the instructors in the manners and forms of the artistry in the decoration of homes, as well as in the various edifices where the services were carried forward.

47. Hence the entity's interest in things that are of the electrical import, as well as the beautiful in decorative forces for the particular service in activities - whether they be of the nature of home or for the services in the religious places of worship, or what. All of these are a part of the entity's experience. Hence in the present we may find the use again of these activities in its associations for seeking means and manners of giving expression to abilities within.

48. As to that to which the entity may attain, and how:

49. First, applying self in those directions, being warned of that which has been indicated that tends to be as a weakness or fault, and giving expression of self in those channels and ways and manners as indicated, we may bring the greater hope, the greater promise, the greater joy in this experience.

50. Ready for questions.

51. (Q) To what should I devote my interest for life's success? (A) In those abilities of the concert or the reading, or in activities in those directions - whether alone or in conjunction with groups or orchestras, must be the choice of self. But with one, two or three AS the groups to give joy and help and aid, MORE than in teaching, the entity might succeed in its material gains.

52. (Q) With whom should I associate to carry out my life's work? (A) As indicated, choose those who are in the same fields of activity or service. One that might be a musician, and one that would sing, or one that would use another stringed instrument - as the violin as combined WITH the piano, or with the harspsichord, or any of the other stringed instruments. These as a combination would make the greater periods of success.

53. (Q) What field of endeavor is best for me? (A) As indicated - descriptive music always!

54. (Q) What warnings will you give to protect me?

(A) As has been indicated.

55. (Q) What are my best days of the week to begin new things and complete them? (A) Always before the thirteenth - hence nine or eleven, - and in the months as indicated in May, December or January.

56. (Q) What numbers work best for me? (A) These are not - TO say "What numbers work best for me" is not well used. Rather, what numbers are there that are the better in attune or harmony with thee? Those of two, four, six, twelve, twenty-two.

57. (Q) Any health warnings and advice that will aid me? (A) Beware of cold feet.

58. (Q) What would be the best year for me to get married? (A) In forty-two ('42).

59. (Q) What type of man should I marry? Do I know him, or where will I meet him? (A) This depends upon how or the manner in which the self is conducted within this and the next year. Not acquainted in the present, for the BEST activities or associations or environs. As to the type - DO NOT let those who have any disfigurement of body interest thee - they are thy Nemesis.

60. (Q) Should I continue with my present position at the Music School? (A) If this is the determination, very well. But greater accomplishments may be made in the concert tours.
