1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: What a quaint place!
3. Yes, we have the body here, [1943].
4. Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the better normal functioning and activity through the physical forces of this body.
5. These as we find are rather a complication of disturbances. But taken in time, and with a persistent and consistent application of suggestions as we may give, these disturbances should be eliminated - and thus bring about much nearer to normal conditions.
6. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1943] we are speaking of:
7. The blood supply indicates the presence of an infection through the system, causing a reaction in the nerve and muscular forces of a neuritic condition - turning toward arthritic reactions.
8. These as we find are hindrances that arise from a disturbed condition through the periods of the menopause, as combined with an unbalancing of the chemical forces in the system - from conditions existent in the gall duct and liver area, as well as some disturbance in the form of a colitic or a chronic condition in the colon.
9. These are indicated, as given, through the manner in which these disturbances through the blood forces, and the lack of the eliminations through their proper channels, affect the nerve and muscular forces, and portions of the organism of the body.
10. The effect upon the nervous system is to cause in the extremities, and in portions of the muscular forces, the acute conditions at times.
11. While a helpful experience is found at times with the
1943-1 Page 2
increase of the eliminations, this only brings about temporary relief.
12. Hence there will be the needs for such applications as to bring not only temporary relief but to remove the causes of those disturbances in the system, and thus building up those activities in the glandular forces to aid in creating a balance - as through the disturbance produced by this congestion or disturbance because of the lack of glandular activities and the disturbance in gall duct and liver areas.
13. As to the effect upon the organs of the system - these as we find become merely rather sluggish, and under such conditions there are periods of upsetting of the eliminations more than ordinary, and an upsetting of the digestive forces of the body. Also the organs of the sensory system - as the hearing, the eyesight, the feeling, the taste - become involved in the condition; as well as the locomotion of the body.
14. Then, as we find, we would first begin with this body in this way and manner:
15. First we would apply, of evening before retiring - or when retiring, the heavy Hot Castor Oil Packs over the liver, the gall duct and the whole of the right side, or the groin to that area just below the breast on the right side. Apply these for a period of not less than an hour or an hour and a half, as warm as the body can stand same.
16. Then the next morning take at least two tablespoonsful of Olive Oil, internally.
17. After this has acted thoroughly, and the body has rested for a couple of days, begin then with taking small doses of Atomidine; one drop in half a glass of water of morning before any meal is taken. Each morning increase the quantity one drop, until five drops are being taken at the one period. Then leave off for three days. Then begin again with the one drop, increasing each day until five are being taken again.
18. THEN, on the evening of the same day that the five drops are taken, at the end of the second series of Atomidine, you see - we would take an EPSOM SALTS BATH! This should be as warm as the body can well stand, and the water should be added (hot water) gradually, after the body is submerged in same - all but the head. Use at least twenty pounds of Epsom Salts in about forty gallons of water, see?
19. During the period the body is in the Epsom Salts Bath (and it should remain in same for at least twenty to thirty minutes), there should be an attendant who would aid in massaging those portions of the limbs where there have been the acute pains, and through the body.
1943-1 Page 3
20. Afterwards there should be a thorough rubdown or massage with salt and rum, and then - of course - with rub alcohol; this after the body has been taken from the Bath, you see.
21. The body should rest for at least several hours after this application.
22. Wait then for five days - and begin then again with the Atomidine; taking it in the same order and the same manner as first indicated, with the rest period and then the second series as given.
23. Then after the second period of the Atomidine take again the Epsom Salts Bath.
24. THEN, after the second Epsom Salts Bath, NOT BEFORE, - we would begin with some osteopathic adjustments particularly for the lower lumbar, the sacral - or a GENERAL treatment throughout. But in this particular case, begin with the greater portion of the treatments in the LOWER part of the spine and work up, rather than beginning in the upper portion and working down - as is ordinarily the procedure in giving a thoroughly manipulative or osteopathic treatment.
25. At least six to ten such treatments should be given.
26. During the whole periods, be mindful of the diet! Have at least one meal each day consist principally of only raw fresh vegetables.
27. Do not eat fried foods.
28. Do not take too much of starches of any nature. This does not mean to exclude corn, so long as it is young or boiled corn, but NOT fried corn!
29. Of course, butterbeans, beans and lentils - all of these natures should be a part of the diet - also tomatoes and such natures, cooked as well as raw (the tomatoes), for they may be added to the raw vegetable salad if so desired.
30. Coffee, tea or milk may be taken if the body desires same, but do not put milk or cream in the coffee or tea if taken; not too much sugar with same either.
31. But keep these in the NORMAL manner, and we should find that the body should be free of the greater part of the pain long before the latter portion of these treatments, and a better condition throughout.
32. When the osteopathic adjustments are begun, and there is the cessation of the other treatments (taken along in the order indicated, and do not begin the osteopathic treatments until these others have been completed in the manner indicated), we find it will be necessary to keep better eliminations, and that there be the eliminations a little above normal, or evacuations at least twice each day. Hence, as we find, we would then take a small amount of Eno
1943-1 Page 4
Salts regularly; that is, a teaspoonful each morning, you see. This is a fruit salts, and will work well with these conditions.
33. Do all of these in the ORDER as indicated, you see; for the body is first prepared - by the first applications outlined - for the elimination of the sources or causes of the infectious forces, or those inclinations and tendencies indicated.
34. Do these, and we will find we will bring the better forces for this body.
35. Ready for questions.
36. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See directions [which were enclosed] for preparing Castor Oil Packs. See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Osteopath, when you are ready for these treatments. We would suggest one such as: Dr. Elisha T. Kirk, 20 West Baltimore Ave., Media, Penna. At your convenience we would appreciate a history of your case to the time of obtaining Reading, so we may have something with which to compare our information. This is valuable for our records.) records.)
