1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief for this body. You will answer the questions she submits, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1993], present in this room.
3. Now as we find, there are some disturbing conditions which prevent a normal activity through the physical forces of the body.
4. While these are becoming somewhat of a constitutional nature, we find that with persistence and care they may be eliminated, or the causes removed so that the disturbance produced may be eliminated from the system.
5. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1993] we are speaking of, present in this room:
6. In the blood supply we find indications of disturbance. This as we find is rather with the eliminations not being coordinant in the system, and the EFFECT is created or indicated in the blood ACTIVITY - rather than there being a disorder of a blood nature.
7. The sources of this disturbance in the blood stream, then, arise - as we find - from the GLANDULAR system, and especially to that portion of same related to the eliminations through channels associated with the organs of the pelvis.
8. Thus we find there are periods indicated when the disturbance has been called a blood condition, humor in the blood, acne, and different forms of other disturbances; but the SOURCE arises from there being a hindrance owing to the improper coordinations between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal nervous system, as related to those activities in these portions of the system in which this disturbance arises.
9. And this has gradually grown until, as indicated from the
1993-1 Page 2
constitutional nature (that is, the general functioning of the organs of supply, the organs of assimilation and elimination), the periods of aggravation - in the conditions produced on portions of the body - become or continue to be more and more irritating.
10. Sometimes they are much worse than others; at certain seasons they become more and more irritating, or more aggravated than at others. The change in atmosphere as well as the general conditions in environs will alter somewhat these disturbances.
11. This indicates, then, that it is a nervous disturbance as well as a disturbance in the eliminations producing those disorders in the blood supply. And poisons and conditions which should be eliminated through the respiratory system and the alimentary canal become eliminated through portions of the perspiratory system.
12. Thus the condition which exists in the outer and under portion of the cuticle and epidermis in portions of the body itself.
13. These as we find, then, are affected by these variations; and AFFECT the organs of the assimilation AND elimination.
14. Hence first the glandular system, then the digestive system, then the eliminating system, as well as nerve supply, are to be taken into consideration when those influences are given that would ELIMINATE the effects as well as eradicate CAUSES of the disturbance through the physical forces of this body.
15. First, then:
16. We would begin by taking small doses of Atomidine, gradually increasing the dose. This is to act directly upon the GLANDULAR system. These would be repeated (after the first beginning - that is, these rounds of taking the Atomidine as we will indicate) about every two or three months for a period long enough to see that there has been established perfect coordination between the glandular forces of the body.
17. Begin with taking the Atomidine first, before any others - save the diets - are to be considered.
18. Taken one minim (drop) of Atomidine in half a glass of water each morning, before any meal is taken, for five days.
19. Then leave off for one day.
20. Then begin again, and take TWO minims each day for five days. Leave off for the one day.
21. Then begin again with the ONE minim - this to be taken for the five days.
22. Then leave off entirely for at least two weeks. After
1993-1 Page 3
the two weeks, begin again with the routine as just indicated.
23. During the two weeks of leaving off the Atomidine, begin with osteopathic adjustments, twice a week, SPECIFICALLY related to the coccyx end of the spine and those areas between the 9th dorsal and the lumbar axis. Keep these up twice a week until at least ten have been taken. Then leave these off (keeping up the Atomidine in the manner indicated).
24. THEN (after the ten osteopathic adjustments, you see), begin with the deeper therapy of the lower electrical forces of the Diathermy - VERY low; not a high coil at all but VERY low. These we would take UNDER the supervision or DIRECTION of the one making the osteopathic adjustments, see? These would be given not so much to heat the body, or to change the vibratory forces of the body, save as to the nerve system. The application of same would be to the relation or the activity of the cardiac system; that is, for the liver, heart AND kidneys coordinating. Take about ten of such treatments. These would only be given, however, once a week; and NOT UNTIL THE TEN OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENTS HAVE FIRST BEEN COMPLETED, AS INDICATED.
25. Then the diet! Here the greater hardship will arise in the beginning, and at periods.
26. These are the DON'TS! These then are also the DO'S!
27. DO NOT eat large quantities ever, of sweets; pastries nor any other sweets. Honey may be taken of a morning if so desired, with buckwheat cakes or such natures; or used as a sweetener for the cereal. But NO CANE SUGAR! If there is the desire for sugar, use beet sugar.
28. Plenty of raw vegetables are to be taken. At least one meal each day should consist wholly of raw vegetables, or almost entirely. Such a salad may consist of lettuce, celery, spinach, greens, tomatos, carrots, beets, peas, beans, etc. The peas, beans and peas may be partially cooked. Raw turnips, raw asparagus even may be taken - if these are palatable with the others.
29. It is well, too, that plenty of the fresh vegetable juices be taken - or these may be taken in the combinations of fresh vegetable juices that are already prepared; such as those prepared in the combination of eight forms of vegetable juices.
30. As to meats - fish, fowl and lamb should be the only meats taken, save liver and those things of such nature that carry little of fats.
31. No fried foods of any kind.
32. No great quantity, ever, of Irish potatoes. Sweet
1993-1 Page 4
potatoes may be taken.
33. At least twice each week use the juices, or the whole quantity, of the Jerusalem artichoke - to act upon the glandular forces that are stimulated not only by the osteopathic corrections in the areas indicated but by the application of the Diathermy for the electrification of the body.
34. As to ointments - use the character of cream that has been indicated as the better.
35. Bathe with the Cuticura Soap; AND the Cuticura Ointment may be used at times.
36. These - if they are adhered to - we will find - will eliminate the causes, correcting the conditions; and the body will have general good health, with clean skin, no disturbance with or in the eliminations or the activities of the system.
37. Ready for questions.
38. (Q) Camay soap has been recommended. How is that? (A) It will be found that the Cuticura is much preferable. Camay is well for portions, or some bodies. In THIS, we would use preferably the Cuticura.
39. (Q) What osteopathic physician in Washington, D.C., is recommended to make corrections and also supervise Diathermy? (A) Waters.
40. (Q) Would it be wise to ask my present doctor, Joseph V. Kennedy, to go over this Reading and follow the suggestions? (A) If it is so desired. But, if there is the desire to have this disturbance eliminated, follow closely those suggestions here indicated, - whether there is the agreement or disagreement.
41. (Q) Would it be well to continue the Alpine Ray in connection with this treatment recommended here? (A) We would not use Alpine Ray here. Here, let this be understood: The Alpine Ray acts upon the blood supply THROUGH the accentuation of the rays upon the corpuscles of the blood. Here in this condition, as we have indicated, there is a diffusion of the conditions where the glandular force FAILS to become active with the general system, THUS PRODUCING the disturbance in the blood stream and the activity of that carried by the leucocyte IN combination with the other corpuscles of the body! Thus by using the Alpine Ray we are not AIDING, but only causing AT TIMES a better distribution, see?
1993-1 Page 5
42. (Q) Should the artichokes be raw or cooked? (A) As indicated, the juices as well as the body of same may be taken. When it is taken raw, the greater quantity of juice is taken, see? When cooked, then we will find the greater quantity of the insulin for the assimilation through the activity of the glandular forces, especially the pancrean forces as related to the activities in the liver.
43. (Q) Face has cleared in past week. Is this due to any particular treatment or environment? (A) As just outlined or indicated, there are periods when this will clear to a great degree; but the SOURCES of the disturbance must be eliminated, see?
44. (Q) What drinks may be taken? (A) DO NOT take any carbonated drinks, at all! Tea or coffee, or chocolate, or ice cream may be taken in moderation, but NOT carbonated waters.
45. (Q) And milk? (A) Milk is very well. Of course, the fruit juices - or citrus fruit juices - all must be a part of the diet (but not at the same meal when cereal is eaten).
46. (Q) What breads? (A) PREFERABLY the whole wheat, and ESPECIALLY rye breads. Do these, as we have indicated, and we will eliminate these disturbances.
