This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of October, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2030], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Hugh Lynn Cayce and Edgar Evans Cayce.

R E A D I N G

Born March 5, 1918, in Portsmouth, Virginia. Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions he submits, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from present - " - '36 - formative - '30 - speculative in mind - '29 - " etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2030].

4. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here - these are rather unusual in many respects. The variations as to activities of the entity through the material experiences, and the oft sojourn in the earth, produces or brings an influence in which the entity is much more sensitive than it is ordinarily accredited with being. And oft such, in attempting to be hid or overcome by the entity, causes confusions in self and the misunderstanding of the entity by others.

5. Those influences in which the entity appears to be preoccupied within self are in fact the attempts of the inner self to adjust itself or analyze the apparent influences within the experience of the entity during such experiences.

6. The entity should go far in the present experience in making for advancement - physically, mentally, spiritually.

7. Hence these interpretations in the present are chosen with the desire to make the experience in the present as a helpful influence, aiding the entity to better comprehend or

understand these emotions - as well as the influences that bring those activities and desires of the entity for the mental as well as the spiritual and material manifestations.

8. As to the influences astrologically, then - these as we find are a bit confusing; and yet because of those forces from material sojourns they may be analyzed the better.

9. Coming under the Piscean with the Ariean influence, we find the indication at times of a mystic, or a studious individual; yet no one accuses the entity of being over-studious. And yet INNATE or latent within the entity there is that deeper influence or force; and the concept of the entity as to that which is of the nature of duty, as well as of that which is a privilege or an opportunity.

10. Thus the entity's concepts of right and wrong are high. And there needs to be the cherishing of those influences in the experience, if there would be brought the greater development during this present sojourn.

11. In Venus we find both the conflicting and the benevolent influences. For the entity will experience disappointments in associations with the opposite sex. For it will continue to look for those fields of activity in which there may be a united effort.

12. DO NOT MARRY one that has the birthdate other than in October or December; else we will find there will come such a disturbing force as to make the experience one to be dreaded, rather than bringing a united effort in the ways and manners as such should be.

13. Also from the Venus influences we find the appreciation of the finer things - yet capable and able to adjust itself to most of those environs that may be a part of the experience.

14. Yet those associations of home, of friendships, of activities in associations with duties and obligations, become to the entity a thing of beauty - rather than as a drudge of any kind or nature.

15. From the Saturn influences we find the confusion, or the change, or the inability oft for the entity to determine within self as to that course in the material or mental, or even in spiritual associations.

16. Thus we find the entity, as would be apparent to others, thinking or acting in one direction today and in an entirely different direction tomorrow. Yet the purpose deep within the entity is for the expression of the better influences, and the seeking to know itself.

17. Here some counsel would be given the entity:

18. In analyzing self and these emotions - know that it is not by chance that the entity enters any given experience,

and that the associations or activities with individuals are not by chance. For, in the spiritual you live and move and have your being in your Maker. He has not willed that any soul should perish, but has with every temptation, with every trial, given opportunities, friends, connections, associations in which the choice by self will bring those privileges as well as opportunities for making hardships or temptations into stepping-stones in your experience.

19. Know that it is not all just to live - not all just to be good, but good FOR something; that ye may fulfillthat purpose for which ye have entered this experience.

20. And that purpose is that you might know yourself to be yourself, and yet one with the Creative Forces, or God.

21. Then, study to show thyself approved unto thy ideal.

22. What, then, IS thy ideal?

23. You find yourself a body, a mind, a soul; each with its attributes, manifesting in a material world. And you realize that the body, the mind and the soul are one - and that confusion may cause detrimental influences to body, to mind or to soul.

24. Then, you must have your ideal as to spiritual values, as to spiritual imports in your experience. And know, - whatever may be your desire, it must have its inception in SPIRITUAL attitudes.

25. What, then, is your spiritual ideal?

26. In your mental body you find at times confusion, as indicated. But what is your mental ideal? One willing to pay the price in study, in application, that you may gain the proper concept not only of your relationships to spiritual forces from within and without, but your relationships with your fellow man in every phase of your experience?

27. Then, your ideal is not what you may acquire by "Gimmie - Gimmie - Gimmie," but "What may I do, what may I give, in my relationships to others to make that association the BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE," for which ye long so always!

28. Then the ideal is, "What may I do or be to others, that they may be better, may have a greater concept of the purposes of life, by even being acquainted or associated with myself?"

29. This should be your ideal, in your material life.

30. It is not that the body is all of meat, nor all of position, nor all of that activity in a social manner, nor all of play or work - but ALL of these enter into the experience. Just as the mental and spiritual body apply, or need, or rely upon the attributes of the phases of the whole, so is it necessary that there be the ideal in the

material relationships. And these also must, as in mind, have a spiritual conception - if you would grow in grace, in knowledge, in understanding.

31. Then, as you find: If you would have friends, show yourself to be a friend to others. If you would have love in your life, it is necessary that you be LOVELY to others. If you would have that in your material experience to supply the physical needs of the body, the gratifying or satisfying or contenting of self in its relationships to material things, WORK in such a manner that others may be INSPIRED by that manner in which you conduct yourself.

32. Not as one afraid - neither as one that is unmindful of the body needs or the body privileges. But abuse NOT your opportunities, if you would be the gainer in this experience.

33. As to the appearances in the earth - we find, as indicated - because of their number - these bring a greater emotion for one of its sex than is ordinarily seen or even accredited. For the body is sympathetic; the body is kind, gentle; not sufficient patience - MOSTLY, though, with self. For the entity finds that it may express or show more patience to others than to self. But study what IS patience. For in patience you become aware of your soul.

34. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, and during those periods just preceding what is called the Civil War - or the relationships of the country in those activities of a political nature, as well as the economic relationships between the South and the North.

35. The entity then was engaged in activities as related to the manufacture or the use of products of the soil - or the introducing of the uses of tobacco in the various lands, or various ports. [2/16/68 GD's note: We heard that Mr. [2030] is now an executive with a big tobacco firm.]

36. Thus the entity, for the period, saw a great deal of opportunity to meet peoples and associations of peoples with activities in many lands.

37. Thus there was the taking advantage of the entity, as to the abilities and knowledge of the entity's activity, by some of those in both of the political factions of the day.

38. Because of the awareness of this, the entity doubted the principles of each; and thus brought for itself through those periods strained relationships in its activities.

39. The name then was Joshua Bell. In the experience the entity gained, the entity lost, the entity gained.

40. And the ability for the presenting of convincing arguments for the use of this or that product is latent

within the experience of the entity.

41. While the entity may at times appear to be argumentive over things of a trivial nature, or things lacking in importance, we find that deep within self (with the encouraging of same) there are the abilities to be active as a salesman in ANY FIELD that may be chosen by the entity, and especially in that in which there is the distributing of any character that is used in the home - whether of the electrical nature or of any nature pertaining to the betterment of the home - would make for the outlet in which the entity might find the greater contentment, as well as the opportunities for the material success.

42. And this would give the opportunities for the entity to manifest its abilities in the spiritual and mental way also.

43. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the English, during those periods known as the Crusades.

44. There we find the entity was associated with many of those who were the leaders in the activities of that period. For the entity, as one Charlean Underhil, was what would be termed in the present as the propagandist, or the one to SELL the idea to those who were in the rural districts, or those who were active in those influences in which groups of individuals worked during those periods only IN the ways of groups or sects of individuals for certain activities.

45. Thus we find that during that sojourn many of the leaders relied upon the activities of the entity, and never were any of those disappointed in the abilities of the entity.

46. From that we find the easiness with which the entity may meet individuals or peoples or groups, and to make friends with same - no matter what may be their stations, their association or activities in the experience.

47. Thus we will find the entity also influenced to those things pertaining to parades, or the preparations for wars, or the preparations for activities in relationships between groups, or peoples of many climes and activities of many groups.

48. Before that we find the entity was in the Roman experience, during those activities in that period when there were dissensions as to "What meaneth the teachings of the man of Galilee?"

49. There we find the entity was a Roman, and a Roman soldier; but of those activities at FIRST in Greece and Cilicia, and later in portions of that land of Palestine and especially that of Herod Archelaus in the northern portion.

50. There we find the entity came in contact with many of those who had accepted, as well as many of those who

persecuted those who followed the Nazarene.

51. Thus we find a confusion in the experiences of the entity during that sojourn; yet there were the abilities of the entity not merely as a soldier but to interpret for others, and to prevent them from becoming too much in an activity in which turmoils would arise.

52. Hence we will find, as has been the experience even thus far, the entity is one inclined to be the peacemaker when disputations arise in its associations here and there. For the entity holds not grudges, and yet has DEFINITE, VERY definite ideas as to what it thinks; not so much as yet as to what it believes, but what it thinks.

53. Hence that as has been indicated - the argumentation about minor things or minor details, yet in the deeper things the abilities to bring peace in the experiences of those who are disturbed in some directions.

54. From the experience we will find the abilities of the entity to meet others, to determine the abilities of others, and thus adding to the characteristics necessary for a GOOD salesman.

55. Before that we find the entity was in that land now known as the Persian, during those periods when there were the activities of those peoples who had brought the Jewish people under bondage.

56. The entity, though of the Persians, was rather inclined towards the persecuted peoples, because of the associations with some of those in those activities; for the entity then married a Jewess!

57. This, to be sure, brought disturbing experiences, yet the abilities of the entity to later act in the capacity of an interpreter of and for Zerrubabel; as well as becoming closely associated with Nehemiah brought not only the places of responsibility but of judgements necessary in aiding those peoples when they began their return to the Holy Land.

58. Hence we find the entity acting in those capacities as among the helpers to those persecuted.

59. In the present we will find the entity will become the defender always of those who are persecuted, or any that might be called the "under dog."

60. Thus we find that innate need for the manifestation more of, "If you would have friends, be friendly; if you would find love, love your fellow man."

61. Remember the greater commandment as given by Him, who is Lord of Lords and King of Kings, "Love ye one another, even as I have loved you."

62. The name then was Eleaza.

63. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land,

in those periods when there were turmoils and strifes in the land - when there were the rebellions.

64. The entity was among those who were very closely associated with the Young King, in the attempts to - as it were - "sell" the ideas of the various activities that were necessary for the establishing of the activities of the King under those disturbing forces.

65. Thus we find the entity again acting in the capacity of the peace-maker, where there were political as well as social differences, as well as of almost every nature - in contact with those who headed the rebellions in the King's own household, as well as among the Natives, and those who were sent into exile.

66. With the return of the Priest, the entity became among the leaders in establishing better relationships with those peoples from Atlantis as well as the Natives and of other lands.

67. Thus we find the entity acting in the capacity of what might be called the diplomat, to the various groups in that experience.

68. As to the abilities of the entity during the experience, too much might not be said.

69. Then the entity was in the name Ar-Zek-In.

70. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain, and how:

71. Find thyself. For in the study of thyself is the greater study in which ye may find thy relationships with thy Creator.

72. Know that thine own temple has been within thine own body. For thy body is the temple of the living God. There He has promised to meet thee.

73. FIND first thy relationships with Him.

74. In the material activity - as a salesman, or as an organizer of groups for such, in the products that would have to do with the home or those associations of same, you may find the greater field of material security, as well as that of contentment.

75. Ready for questions.

76. (Q) What has been my past association with [...]? What are the urges from this association in the present? (A) These as we find have been quite close in their relationships - as in the experience just previous to this, what might be called companions, though NOT married; though in the Roman experience they were united.

77. (Q) For the mutual mental and spiritual development of both, would it be wise to consider marriage with [...]? (A) This must best be determined within self. Is there a

union of purposes and desires? Are thy ideals one? If not, WATCH OUT!

78. (Q) Through what contacts and connections should I seek to carry out the suggestions for life work? (A) In first the training of self in that of salesmanship, in WHATEVER line of endeavor that may be chosen as an outlet for self. For the entity is a NATURAL salesman.

79. (Q) In what section of the country would I be the most successful? (A) WHEREVER the entity chooses that may be as the greater material advantage for the associations - whether in the land of the present nativity and present sojourn, or in the middle west or the west, or even the east. Any of these fields. For, what is to be thy criterion? "In whatever field of service, I will make it a better place for others to live in."

80. (Q) Would it be wise for me to seek advancement now in the coast artillery? (A) No.

81. (Q) Where have I been associated with the following in the past and what were the relationships: My mother, [...]? (A) In the Egyptian, mother and son; in the Persian, the mother was then the one to whom the entity was wed, being then of Jewish descent (the present mother). In the experience just previous to the present, brother and sister.

82. (Q) Billy [...]? (A) We don't find Billy [...].

83. (Q) [487]? (A) Especially in the experience during the Egyptian influence or force, as we find, were their associations very close.

84. (Q) [1983]? (A) In the Palestine experience we find the associations, or the Roman.

85. (Q) [341]? (A) Almost as an advisor or counselor, or of an even greater influence to the Young King during that experience - in the Egyptian sojourn.
