1. HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [2045].
3. As we find, conditions which disturb - or prevent the better normal conditions, or normal reactions - are complex in their nature.
4. Thus there is caused a combination of disturbances - as related to the position of organs in the body, and their activity as related one to another; and their reflex action upon the nervous system, or systems, as well as upon portions of the functioning of parts - and organs - of the body.
5. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2045] we are speaking of:
6. The blood supply indicated that there is an unbalanced condition in the assimilating system, or superacidity in the most part; and there is the inclination towards the toxic reactions in the blood stream, as well as the effect of same produced upon the body.
7. There is the inclination also towards a form of anemia in the blood count, though near normal in pressure - but irregular in pulsation.
8. In the nervous system, or systems, we find a great deal of pressure, superimposed by a lesion which exists in the upper dorsal area. Because of this condition there is produced the disturbance with the circulation to the head; especially if the body lies down, or becomes overtired, overactive, or excited, or in a state of anxiety.
9. This as we find is partially caused by the manner in which the activity of the food taken into the stomach is not eliminated, because of the very drooping of the stomach at
2045-1 Page 2
the pyloric end; thus causing fermentation and irritations to those portions of same where there has been a greater activity in or from the gastric juices upon the pyloric portion of the stomach.
10. Hence that form of fermentation as to cause pressures to the cardiac portion, as well as the lower portion of the stomach. Thus the strain and lesion to the dorsal center, about the 4th to the 6th center, as well as to the vagus center, or the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal.
11. The area through this portion will be found at times to be cold, or much cooler than the surrounding area; at others there will be a burning portion, as it were, BETWEEN the shoulder blades and under the edge of the shoulder blade. This is the attempts of the system to adjust itself to the needs of the supply of the lymph and emunctory flow to cause sufficient of the leucocyte to care for a disturbed condition.
12. Thus the acidity and the distress upon the organs of assimilation, carried through to the colon, as well as a condition existent in the descending colon at times, and even to the lower portion of same where the sphincter muscular force becomes involved at times.
13. Hence gas pains are caused through the lower portion of the abdomen; heaviness to the lower limbs at such times, and also a pressure indicted in the lumbar axis and through the ileum plexus; and the feeling at times in portions of limbs, under the knees, and the inclination for the limbs to appear as easily going to sleep. This occurs only at times, - usually when there has been the greater exercise mentally OR physically, and the attempt to rest that has NOT supplied the necessary resuscitating forces to the nerve ganglia along the system, by the lack of that vitality which as we have indicated is shown in the form of anemia in the body-building influences.
14. As we find, in ministering to the needs of the conditions here:
15. First, we would begin with the general adjustments osteopathically; especially in the areas indicated - in the dorsal and also the lumbar and sacral and ileum plexus - at the same time having prepared or fitting self with an elastic stomach or abdominal and stomach support, that will hold the organs of digestion in better relationships one to another.
16. It would be better for such adjustments to be made twice a week until ten to twelve to fourteen treatments have been taken; and then leave off for a period of a week to ten days, and then have some six more such adjustments.
2045-1 Page 3
17. Also we would occasionally have a colonic irrigation (though this should be done by one well versed in same), to dilate as well as purify the lower portion of the alimentary canal. This will also aid in eliminating the poisons, that will naturally be aroused by stimulating the activity of the gastric flow, as well as through the medicinal properties which we will indicate to stir the activity of the gall or bile duct, and the activity of the pancreas and the spleen.
18. After meals we would take a small quantity of Alcaroid as an aid in digestion, and as an aid to the better alkalinity through the system. This would be taken after each meal in periods of three to five days, then left off for a week, and then taken again for three to four days, see? and so on, when necessary.
19. Once a week, or once in two weeks, we would take two to four CAROID and Bile Salts tablets - until the system has been clarified or purified by the better activity of the organs of elimination - through the correcting of the stresses in the areas indicted.
20. Throughout the periods we would have the diets consist of not too much of meats, but more of the fresh and raw and cooked vegetables. Occasionally include in same especially the Jerusalem artichoke, as well as the pie plant, and ALSO the oyster plant - (that is, rhubarb and salsify). The elements that will be derived from these will aid in creating a better balance in the activities of the organs as related to assimilation and digestion; aiding also the alimentary canal and the hepatic circulation to be purified.
21. Ready for questions.
22. (Q) What causes, and what should be done for, periodic headaches at night, lasting four or five nights in succession? (A) As indicated, these arise from the general disturbances; and should disappear after the first series of the osteopathic treatments; as well as the eliminations set up.
23. (Q) Can gradually growing deafness in left ear be corrected? (A) This will be a part of the natural manipulations and stimulations to the vagus center, as the pressures are removed, and the inclination for the prolapsus in the Eustachian tube aided - by the treatment about the ear, as well as in the roof of the mouth. Also, after the second or third osteopathic adjustment, we would begin with the use of the Radio-Active Appliance; this to be used in the regular manner, circulated about the body to make the ease or the rest better, and to stimulate equalization through the upper and the lower circulation. We
2045-1 Page 4
would use this about an hour each day, preferably just before ready to retire.
24. (Q) Will I be able to get back to normal and walk without pain, from the fall which I had recently leaving my pelvic bones loose? (A) These osteopathic adjustments as indicated, through the pelvis, as well as the lumbar axis, will aid in bringing bettered conditions throughout. Do these things as indicated.
25. We are through for the present. Copy to Self through son " " Ass'n file (See extra copy of directions [which was enclosed] for osteopath. We would refer you to: Dr. Lulu Irene Waters, 1707 Columbia Rd., Washington, D.C. See sheet [which was enclosed] explaining Radio-Active Appliance.) ce.)
