1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of the body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2073].
3. As we find, there are specific disturbances which prevent the normal functioning of the organs of this body. These in the present are rather subtle in their nature; that is, as these have not reached such proportions as to become localized or centralized, they produce upsets of different natures in the present.
4. But unless measures are taken for the removal of the causes, greater disturbance may be expected later.
5. These disturbances, as we find them, have to do most specifically with the functionings of those activities that turn the foods into the forms for better assimilations, - and the glandular forces as related to same more specific.
6. Hence there is the increasing at times of the sugar content of the blood supply, and at others there is a heavy cloudiness through the excretory functions of the kidneys, and the upsetting of the liver. Or, the pancreas reaction is the disturbing factor, as combined with the natural results produced upon the whole of the hepatic circulation, or the liver and the kidneys.
7. As we find, these conditions arise primarily from pressures which exist in the area of the 7th and 8th dorsal, or a portion of the 9th dorsal plexus as combined with those pressures in the 7th and 8th plexus; thus hindering the impulses for the draining, or activity of this portion of the system.
8. The results are the exceeding nervousness which arises at times, even as to disturb the rest, producing insomnia; and at other periods the effect produced is a weakness

throughout the whole body, especially extenuating through the lower limbs; tiring very easily. At times certain reactions cause shortness of breath, and a quick pulsation, or palpitation - as it were - of the heart. At other times we find an excess in eliminations through the kidneys and bladder - then at other periods scant.
9. The great nervous experiences of the body arise at those times following the inactivity of the kidneys, as related to the liver and the spleen and the pancrean reactions.
10. We find that these conditions may be relieved in the present not only through those activities which are necessary, to be sure, in the mental attitudes of the body, but through the diets AND a few - some six to twelve - adjustments osteopathically, or neuropathically, of those areas especially as we have indicated - between the 9th and the 5th and 6th dorsals and cervicals, as well as the lumbar and sacral, with those corrections as made through such areas.
11. Then, as to the diet:
12. Occasionally - about twice each week, for at least three to five weeks - we would take a small quantity of Jerusalem artichoke in the diet; or one about the size of a hen egg. One time we would take this raw, the next time cooked - but cooked in its own juices (as in Patapar Paper), and the juices taken with same.
13. Also occasionally, about once a month - just before the Periods - we would take a small quantity of Watermelon Seed Tea; that there may be the better purifying, with the whole of the eliminating system, and to aid in cleansing the kidneys - by the activity of the nitre from same through the body. The proportions would be a heaping teaspoonful of Watermelon Seed, crushed, and a pint of boiling water poured over same to steep as tea. Let this quantity be taken not all at once, but an ounce or two at the time, over a period of two days, until the pint is taken, each month.
14. Refrain from large quantities of fats of any kind, or greases.
15. A great deal of raw vegetables should be taken. Let the principal portion of one meal each day, at least, consist of raw vegetables.
16. Refrain from quantities of starches, or of combinations that produce these.
17. Take a great deal of citrus fruit juices.
18. Only a small quantity of meats, and when these are taken let it be fish, fowl or lamb.
19. NEVER any fried foods!
20. Do these, and be consistent.

21. Drink plenty of water.
22. And keep the mental attitudes in that way and manner as may be indicated by a thorough perusal - but a living of each of the suggestions and activities indicated in - the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of St. John.
23. Do these and we will bring normal forces for this body, [2073].
24. Ready for questions.
25. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet [which was enclosed] of directions for Osteopath or Neuropath. Please let us have the name and address of the one you choose, so we may ask him for a report on your case at the proper time. Watermelon Seed at this season might be purchased from a Seed store. The Jerusalem Artichoke should be on the market by now. If not, it can be ordered from John A. Selzer Seed Co., LaCrosse, Wis.) )
