1. GC: You will have before you the conditions surrounding Atlantic University, Virginia Beach, Va., and those connected with same, especially the body and the enquiring mind of Dr. William M. Brown, present in this room and his problems which arise from these various conditions. Please advise and direct him as to the best procedure under the present existing circumstances. You will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding these.

2. EC: Yes, we have those conditions and circumstances as surround the Atlantic University; also those circumstances and conditions and problems as confront Dr. William M. Brown. In MANY ways, many of these we have had; many of the conditions and circumstances as have existed still exist. Some conditions have become more and more acute in the relationships with individuals, as well as relationships in circumstance and environs. There are many problems, as we find, and many that are seemingly unsurmountable under the present conditions and circumstances.

3. First there should be, as we find, on the part of Dr. Brown and those associated with him IN the present conditions and circumstance, as to what is the DESIRE on the part of each so concerned, and as to how far - or in what manner each desire to proceed. Not from the circumstance of what CAN be done, but first knowing what is DESIRED to be done the ways, the means, may be provided for the DOING of that.

4. In the immediate needs, there are many resources that have heretofore been considered rather as unsatisfactory, untrustworthy, and more talk than anything else - yet when faced with a determined group, a determined individual, there will be activities that will surprise even those who have been the most optimistic - that from the local groups as have seen and have expressed some vision as to the continuation of the operations of a school, of a university. Then to this group, those who have been rather dilatory in EXPRESSING the dire needs should be more insistent with that

group - the business MEN'S group locally.

5. Then there have been those expressions of individuals, as well as of individual groups in other vicinities, other surroundings, that have apparently - in an UNGAINLY manner - made for many of the disruptions in the existent conditions. Then these may be clarified also in the way and manner as to make for immediate needs for the carrying on in the present situation, will these be approached by those for WHOM such individuals are, in a manner, responsible for the outcome OF the efforts OF those individuals - see?

6. Then, in the more remote circumstance or conditions as confront the body, the enquiring mind, these conditions - as we find - will be much clarified by a DEFINITE, decided stand taken by all those who are interested in the PRESENT conditions, as well as in FUTURE operations. These will CLARIFY much - for when sides, or circumstances are drawn to a head by decided stands, sides are taken. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) Taking all things into consideration, is it best to continue negotiations with the present Board, or to withdraw and to form an entirely new corporation? (A) That should be determined in the minds of those MOST interested, for those conditions and those circumstances as SURROUND same will be clarified - as HAS been given - much by a DEFINITE stand being taken - see?

8. (Q) Can a settlement be effected with the present board of trustees? (A) By either conforming to their wishes or by making definite demands and going about to ACT in that way and manner!

9. (Q) Who should handle this and how should they proceed? (A) First those most interested - the faculty, the student body - should decide WHAT is TO be done, the stand TO be taken - see? Then, when this is done, dependent upon the manner - or that which is chosen as a definite stand, whether as to force an issue or whether to wholly withdraw and seek sources for the carrying on in a more definite way and manner. EITHER will make a drawn line, and will make for sides to be chosen, or taken - see? In either case there may be seen that the LOCAL channel, as WELL as those definite associations, connections as HAVE been made, will be the basis of - and the sources of - IMMEDIATE needs. Who should handle those? Then, that as has been outlined. In the local board, or the local group - these may be handled best by Dr. Brown, but in those of a distance may be best handled by those upon WHOM the dependency HAS been in, from and of, for other individuals, with WHOEVER the body asked

for, or demands that a connection be made with other groups - when stands are taken - see?

10. (Q) Please name individuals or groups from whom immediate financial assistance can be obtained and tell us who should approach them? (A) As has been given, in the local groups - these may be approached best through Dr. Brown. In those of other groups, they may be approached through those upon whom individuals have been dependent for their associations WITH the institution - see?

11. (Q) What assistance can be expected from Norfolk and vicinity and what type of approach should be made? (A) This may be expected most when there is a nucleus for a FUTURE undertaking, rather than in the present - or the above conditions or circumstances - though there are individual groups, especially those of the Women's CLUBS that may be relied upon in a definite manner. These may be approached best THROUGH those knowing the needs of the immediate conditions - see?

12. (Q) Are there any conditions that are arising or may arise that Dr. Brown should be warned of at this time? (A) That will depend much upon the STAND, or the circumstances surrounding those definite, decided stands that SHOULD be made by all those interested IN the EXISTENT condition - see? As for warnings, no PARTICULAR body or mental condition - as we find in the PRESENT. These, to be sure, may alter or change.

13. (Q) Outline the approach to individuals in New York for financial support to carry the future program for the university. (A) This will depend upon the definite stand made. There are MANY individuals in MANY walks of life, that with a DEFINITE stand taken by any one of a number of individuals who have shown an interest in the conditions or surrounding conditions, when these are definitely made and a stand taken - then these may be approached from DIFFERENT angles. As may be for a definite departmental work, or for definite opening for individual operations, or for a concerted operation from individual groups, foundations, or such - and these approaches will be from whatever STAND is taken - whether associated with portions of old groups or those of an entirely NEW group, see?

14. (Q) What individuals should handle this? (A) This dependent upon WHAT is being sought, for each to their individual purpose AND aim - for as each DEPARTMENTAL force is set in its operations, see?

15. (Q) Please give Dr. Brown any advice and guidance that may be of help to him at this time?

(A) In this connection, much might be said as respecting that as has been given the body - as respecting its association with an undertaking of such a nature, such a type - in the gathering together of individuals, entities, beings, that have labored with each in the various developments of the mental abilities of mankind - and that, would the body show self able, willing, to take hold of same, there WOULD be THE ways, THE means provided for the establishing of, the carrying on of. Be not fainthearted, though the darkness of despair, disappointment in individuals, in groups, makes for that within self as calls for a questioning of purposes, aims, and ideals. Know in what thou HAST believed, and ACT THAT WAY.
