1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the condition you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2130] present in this room.
3. Now as we find, while in the physical forces of the body are very good in many respects, there are conditions which without correction will and do cause at times a great deal of disturbance.
4. And through the disturbing to the nerve system, these will gradually bring on other disturbances in the functioning of organs that would be more detrimental.
5. These conditions then, as we find have to do primarily with pressures which exist in the cerebrospinal system, and the effect is more specific to the sympathetic or vegetative nerve forces.
6. We find that these exist from an injury which happened some time ago, and is to the end of the spine. This pressure upon the nerves through the coccyx area of the end of the spine causes the contraction in the centers at the base of the brain; and the pressure upon the medulla oblongata - which is that equalizing center between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic system, as it enters the base of the brain - causes the lack of the flow of blood and of impulse to portions of the body.
7. Hence as such conditions gradually react upon the body, portions of the extremities become as if cold, or deadened, - and the recurrence through the activity of the organs is to produce nausea at times. At other periods it produces a choking, or a shortness of breath; at others a general tingling throughout portions of the body.
8. We find that these conditions may be removed, and this will allow the body - and the general nerve system - to
2130-1 Page 2
respond to the normal impulse through the body; thus relieving those tensions upon the nervous system, taking away the strained conditions and allowing a nearer normal reaction.
9. At times these reactions tend to affect the organs of the sensory system, until these become almost as void - the eyese, ears, taste, etc. - or at other times they become accentuated; so that odors, or conditions for the activity of the sensory system, become accentuated, or the senses of the body become more keen - as the pain, through the lack of blood in the brain forces, causes more and more pressure to the body.
10. In the organs themselves of the body - we find:
11. The blood stream is very good. The pressure alters, of course. The pulsation alters, especially when there are disturbances in the nerve forces of the body - as has been indicted. But there is no organic condition, nor any diseased portions to the nervous system - as yet.
12. That there are those disturbances to the sensory forces indicates that there are subluxuations which exist from this tautness, rather than from other disturbances, through the upper dorsals and throughout the whole of the cervical systems.
13. The nerve centers, or their associations with the secondary cardiac, cause the periods when a little nausea arises from the headaches or the pressures, or even the drawing that at times occurs through the shoulders and to the base of the brain.
14. At times the eyes burn; also the ears feel as if full or changed.
15. These are not other than sympathetic disturbances, and indicate the sources from which the pressures arise to the affected area.
16. Through the functioning of the organs - as to the throat, bronchi, lungs and larynx - these react sympathetically, as we have indicated, and become at times spasmodic in their reaction to the conditions; though no organic disturbance exists, as we find - only reflex and sympathetic.
17. The heart's activity changes, as we have indicated, in its pulsation through the pressures, and at times becomes much faster under such conditions, then at others slowed up.
18. In the digestive system - after such periods of reaction through the nervous system we find here more of an aggravated condition. At times there is no desire for food, and at others certain foods the body feels a special or unusual desire for. This of itself is a relfex condition,
2130-1 Page 3
as indicated.
19. But unless corrections are made, there will gradually grow to be a disturbance there - as also through the liver area, which becomes flooded at times, because of this lack of blood flow to other portions of the body.
20. Thus the disturbances which at times exist through the eliminations, and the activity of the alimentary canal.
21. However, with the corrections, and the pressures being removed, we will be rid of those conditions which cause this collapsing of the pressures to the head and the brain centers.
22. In removing these, as we find - the mechanical (osteopathic) manipulations or adjustments would be the more preferable manner.
23. But apply HEAT - WET HEAT - to the sacral and lumbar and coccyx area for at least twenty to thirty minutes before the adjustments are attempted. And then the corrections that are made to coordinate through the 9th dorsal center, the 3rd and 4th dorsal, and throughout the cervicals, will relieve the pressure a great deal easier.
24. These adjustments or treatments, as we find, had best be taken in series - that is: Take these about two to three times a week, at least for the first series of two to three to four weeks. Then rest from these, or leave them off for two weeks. Then take them again, twice a week for two to three weeks. Leave off a week, then take them once a week for a couple of weeks - and so on, graudally getting farther apart, but continuing until the condition is corrected.
25. If there should occur a return of the acute disturbances during the rest period - we would massage the sacral and the coccyx area, or close to the end of the spine, with plain table salt saturated with pure apple vinegar; then apply an electric pad or the like. This will relieve tension.
26. But Wet Heat would be applied in making the osteopathic adjustments.
27. Later a little low electrical treatment will be helpful, but DO NOT GIVE the electrical treatments until at least the second or third SERIES of osteopathic adjustments! This would be then the low electrical current of the direct vibrations.
28. During the second series of osteopathic treatments (but not until then), we would take one minim of Atomidine in half a glass of water each morning before the meal is taken. This will make for better activity of the glandular system, purifying and cleansing the glands and ducts, especially of the thyroids.

29. Of course, keep good eliminations. Use enemas rather than cathartics.
30. Do these, and we will bring the normal conditions for this body, [2130].
31. Ready for questions.
32. (Q) Any special osteopath you would suggest to make these corrections? (A) The one making the adjustments, or that has begun, will be well - but apply the Wet Heat!
33. (Q) What was the nature of the injury to the spine, and about when did it happen? (A) A fall, and later a strain in pushing or lifting something heavy.
34. (Q) What about the goitre? (A) There is no goitre! There ARE those conditions in the vegetative system, you see, that will be removed by the removal of the pressures on the cerebrospinal system, and by the cleansing of the glandular system. This will make for the better activity of ALL of the glandular system.
35. (Q) What should be done for the hemorrhoid condition? (A) This has been covered in what we have just indicated. When we remove the pressures from the end of the spine we will find that the general activities will relieve those tensions throughout the alimentary canal, and thus alleviate the causes. Doing these, we will bring near normal conditions for this body.
