1. HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2157].
3. Now, as we find, there are conditions that are disturbing, or that prevent the better normal physical functioning.
4. Hence these measures to be taken in the present may be called precautionary. For, we find disturbances which if not properly corrected would cause weaknesses and tendencies to arise that might continue to give disturbances in other directions; although the disturbed forces might be bettered through the application of those things that would act only as palliatives and not as correctives.
5. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2157] we are speaking of:
6. There has been a wrench (and a minor one in the beginning) to the spinal column. This disturbance exists in that area between the 7th and 4th dorsal centers. It has not given a great deal of trouble, though at times there has been some little uneasiness of unpleasantness in the area. But the effects produced upon the physical forces of the body are the things concerning which warnings are given here.
7. This has upset the digestive area, slowing up the activity of the duodenum in expunging the digested foods; slowing the liver secretions and activities until there are some toxic conditions that are making for disturbance to the liver center and the kidneys; also producing some malarial reactions in the system: Dull headaches, burning of the eyes, an unpleasantness and a dryness in the throat, a fullness in the stomach, a general debilitation and the lack

of any vital energies being active through the system.
8. As indicated, there might be palliatives administered for these conditions that would overcome them temporarily; yet if corrections are to be made that would prevent disturbance later on, then a different course would be necessary.
9. Hence these, as we find, would be the measures necessary to take for correction:
10. We would have some five to six specific osteopathic adjustments in the area indicated; coordinating with such corrections the upper dorsal and the cervical, as well as the lumbar axis. Have at least some five to six such adjustments in the present.
11. With the beginning of the first treatment, or after the first osteopathic adjustment, then begin also with taking a tonic and properties to eliminate the inclinations already existent in the liver, the gall duct and the kidneys, and the general toxic force through the lower portion of the intestinal system - that is:
12. Give regularly the Grove's Tasteless Chill Tonic (though it isn't very tasteless). Take about three doses each day.
13. After the second day of taking same, follow it with two Zilatone tablets.
14. Then after that, have a saline laxative to flush the system. We would use the Sal Hepatica; this is very good, for it is a combination of the phosphates and sulphates that are good.
15. We find that after this general cleansing the body forces will be much improved, and with the osteopathic corrections made there should be permanent improvement - or a correcting of the conditions that cause these disturbances.
16. Unless these activities are done quickly, however, we find that as the conditions begin to be adjusted there may be caused a sudden activity in the lymph (that has been allayed) - as to cause other influences to appear of a different nature entirely. These will be temporary conditions, however, and will only require that there not be the overfeeding, that the body remain quiet and especially out of a strong light or straining of the eyes, and not attempting to lift any heavy objects. Such glandular disturbances may or may not occur, however - to the lymph circulation. [Referring to measles - ?]
17. For at least a week or ten days be especially precautions regarding the diet; easily assimilated foods, plenty of buttermilk and corn bread and beans and the like. There should not be overquantities of food, or course, during this first ten days, but those easy of assimilation.

18. Do these and we will bring the normal forces for this body, [2157].
19. Ready for questions.
20. (Q) What foods give energy to this body without adding much bulk? (A) Concentrated vitamins, of course, would give the most energy; especially A, B, B-1 and G. After some few days these may be taken in concentrated form, but as we are flushing the system to rid the body of the toxic poisons, do not being these under a week - if they are given in concentrated form. But as indicated, as the appetite returns, give these in the food values. Of course, such vitamins are much preferable to be taken in the regular diet and not concentrated - that's the lazy way to take things!
21. (Q) How much sweets should be taken by the body? (A) Not too great a quantity. If taking sweets, use either Karo or honey.
22. (Q) Are soft drinks alright for this body? (A) No; for very few bodies, and not for this body either!
23. (Q) What remedy would you suggest for the rectal disorder? [Hemorrhoids] (A) The better eliminations, and the exercises each morning before dressing and each evening when ready to retire. Stand erect (with not shoes on, of course). Gradually rise on the toes, raising arms above the head, and bend forward touching the floor - if possible - not in the beginning. Gradually raise the arms as the body rises, you see; and then bend forward as far as possible - with the hands reaching toward the floor.
24. (Q) Other than the exercise suggested, what may be done to improve condition of feet? (A) With the eliminations set up, the exercise morning and evening if taken properly should correct the condition; as will also be aided by the osteopathic adjustments in the lumbar axis for those strains along the sciatic centers.
25. (Q) What make of shoe is best for this body? (A) That as would be well fitted, of the cushion sole, would be the better as we find.
26. (Q) What exercise should the body take in order to increase the weight and help lungs? (A) First, purify the system and let the exercises come along afterwards; not while the body is being adjusted from the conditions existent in the present. Walking, of course, and working, is the best exercise.
27. (Q) Recommend some sport. (A) Running, walking, golfing, fishing or the like.
2157-2 Page 4
28. (Q) What is the best laxative for the body? (A) Foods, or course, are the better laxative. Fruits and vegetables would be the better. Of course, as in the present, those properties have been indicated to eliminate the causes - as the poisons will e stirred more as the corrections osteopathically are made. These properties are to rid the system of the poisons already existent, and to adjust the activity - through the principles of those properties indicated - so as to correct the blood stream, liver activity, pancreas, and the spleen as well as the kidneys. Then after the Zilatone there is to be the flushing of the system with the Sal Hepatica, see? This is for the immediate condition.
29. (Q) What osteopath would you recommend for the body? (A) Any that will cooperate and do just the things as we have indicated.
30. (Q) Any other advice for the body at this time? (A) With these corrections we will find quite a difference in the disposition of the body also, and the attitudes will be much better as the general improvements are shown. But when one's liver and spleen especially are upset, as here, the body is easily irritated. There should be those practices of being and making self more agreeable in all environs and surroundings.
31. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Osteopath.) )
