1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [2298].
3. Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the better normal physical functioning. These as we find are rather complex in their nature and cause, yet the effects are rather specific - even though affecting many portions of the physical organism.
4. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2298] we are speaking of, present in this room:
5. First, in the blood supply - this we find somewhat deficient in quantity, and at times varying considerably as to its character or nature. As we will find, these variations arise from disturbances in the nervous system, as well as in the organs of assimilation as related to the eliminations from the body.
6. In the nervous system - we find here a source of disturbance, being reflected from causes, and the producing of hindrances in certain portions of the spine, as we shall see, as related to the general circulation.
7. Thus the nature of the tendencies in the blood stream, and those effects created through portions of the body.
8. We find these hindrances especially in the cerebrospinal system where there are those connections with the sympathetic or vegetative system - especially in the areas of the secondary cardiac and in the upper portion of the 9th dorsal center. These have arisen a great deal by the posture of the body, as combined with the subjugations of the emotions as related to their activities with the cerebrospinal system; so that in the areas indicated we will
2298-1 Page 2
find there are certain types of lesions formed. In the upper portion, or the secondary cardiac and brachial areas, we have a laterial lesion; while in the upper portion of the 9th dorsal we have a circular lesion.
9. These pressures have hindered the activity of digestion in the upper portion, and tendencies towards the slowing of the lymph activity through the lower portion of the abdomen.
10. Then these setting up conditions within themselves, from the very nature of the nerves' reactions, cause this complication of nervous disturbance that is indicated as a nervous indigestion, or nervous digestion, and a spasmodic reaction through the jejunum; causing some portions of the colon area itself to become engorged, and in other portions a prolapsus.
11. This as we find is indicated in the ascending and a portion of the transverse colon, and a tendency towards prolapsus in the descending and closer to the lower portion of same.
12. These, then, are the effects produced: A poor digestion at times, so that foods which have at times agreed with the body disagree, and other things that should easily pass through the digestive area lie as it were in the stomach WITHOUT the activities of the lactic acids and the lacteals through the system acting upon same.
13. At times then when there is the passage of same there is a formation of gas through the colon, and portions of the stomach itself, as well as passing at times through the entire area of the jejunum - alternating according to the mental or NERVOUS reaction through the mind of the body.
14. As to the organs of the body - brain forces are very good. All of the organs of the sensory system are at variance. Not that there are acute conditions with the sight or vision, or the hearing, taste or feeling, yet at times the body becomes aware of the activity of all of these - which should be involuntary and not a voluntary reaction.
15. This is a natural consequence of the pressures indicated, SYMPATHETICALLY then, through the cervical areas, from the specific lesions existent in the areas indicated.
16. In the throat, bronchi, lungs and larynx - we find at times there is not the lack of the ability to rest so much as the lack of the rest bringing recuperative forces; though at times insomnia or restlessness, as a tiredness, exists with the body.
17. At times we find there is the tendency for easily taking cold, or to be susceptible to those things in that direction.
18. In the heart's activity we find at times a little
2298-1 Page 3
irregularity, but no organic condition, no disturbance even in the nervous system as a nervous heart - though it is at times irregular. This is a natural sympathetic condition. [See 2298-1, Par. R8.]
19. In the digestive system we find a great deal of disturbance. At present a great deal of it is the attempt to keep down those tendencies for acidity.
20. Thus we find the salivary glands are not functioning properly.
21. The glands or portions in the stomach that produce the acids are not functioning properly.
22. These are rather sympathetic conditions; for, as indicated, these are not as yet so much of a glandular disturbance - though the disturbance IS glandular, but is produced by the nervous reaction and lack of impulse being coordinated between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system that cause the disturbance in the glandular force.
23. These then through the stomach itself tend to be too slow at times in emptying, and at others the emptying in such a manner that the foods are not digested; thus causing the conditions in the jejunum as well as through the area of the colon, as indicated.
24. This naturally of itself has an effect through the nervous forces; not that it upsets other than the liver activity, but makes it irregular in the manner or quantity of the bile or gall duct activity to aid in digestive forces.
25. Thus we find at times the kidneys become overactive, at others scarce or sparse in their activity, in the attempt to keep a balance in the upper and lower hepatic circulation.
26. As we find, these would be the manners to bring not only a relief but the removal of the causes of the disturbance:
27. First we would begin with gentle osteopathic manipulations, gradually increasing to the deep manipulations, throughout the whole of the cerebrospinal system. As the adjustments are made for the removal of the lesions indicated, deepen the treatments.
28. In the first series there should be about fifteen to sixteen general treatments and about ten of the adjustments in the 9th dorsal and through the brachial centers of the cerebrospinal system. Of course, coordinate the cervicals and the lower dorsal and sacral with the adjustments.
29. Occasionally we would go to a hydrotherapist that would cleanse the colon by dilating same with colonic irrigations. For this body do not take such oftener than once a month; and this should be done with a saline-soda solution, body temperature, and followed with an alkaline antiseptic. This
2298-1 Page 4
not only tends to cleanse the colon of the engorgement area, but to dilate and to supply activities direct that will coordinate with the lymph flow through the intestinal system.
30. For such applications osteopathically, as well as the colonic irrigations, we would advise going to Tucker.
31. After there have been the first ten adjustments made (that is, the fifteen to sixteen general treatments and ten adjustments), not before - we would then begin using the low electrical vibrations from the violet ray, or the light resistance and high frequency; that is, not the bulb applicator but the hand applicator. Use this only three to four minutes each day in the beginning, and let the applicator be circulated about the body. One day let it be held in the right hand, the next day let it be placed upon a piece of glass and the bare left foot placed upon it; the next day in the left hand, the next day the right foot, and so on, circulating the body in this manner. However, do not begin this until the number of adjustments have been made as indicated.
32. We would continue to use a digestant occasionally, preferably until the lesions have been entirely removed. As we find, that carrying less of bismuth would be preferable. Hence we would us ALCAROID, which as we find in the preferable form of digestant. Once a day should be sufficient, taken after the heavier meal; half a teaspoonful dissolved in a little water, then the glass filled, and then another glass of water taken afterwards.
33. Then, as to the diet - which is very important - we would keep away from any great quantity of fried foods.
34. Have plenty of vegetables that are well cooked, plenty of fruits or berries of all kinds in season.
35. We would not have any red meat, or rare meat.
36. Fish, fowl and lamb are preferable as the meats.
37. Cereals and fruit juices should not be taken at the same meal.
38. As to the mental attitude - this is just as necessary as the physical or mechanical applications for the body.
39. Be with others more. Talk a great deal of those subjects not a depressing nature. See more of the ridiculous or the funny side of every activity. And keep the constructive thoughts in creative activity always.
40. Do these and, as we have indicated, not only will we remove the disturbance but also the causes, and be near to a normal condition.
41. Ready for questions.
42. (Q) What causes occasional neuritis in left arm and leg?
2298-1 Page 5
(A) The poisons in the system from the lack of eliminations through the colon. These are the sources of the neuritic reactions. Hence the needs for plenty of eliminations, as indicated, while the corrections are being made and the changes being wrought. The colon should be cleansed occasionally with the colonic irrigations, or hydrotherapy.
43. (Q) Is there any danger in the colonic irrigations? (A) No danger if they are given by one who understands his business, or a hydrotherapist, or a nurse trained in such. As indicated, use only the saline-soda solution, body-temperature; and we will not find any disturbance by same.
44. (Q) You don't find any real organic trouble, then? (A) No real organic trouble. As indicated, it may become organic unless there is the removal of the causes of these conditions.
45. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra copy of directions [which was enclosed] for Dr. A. R. Tucker, 411 Masonic Temple Bldg., Raleigh, N.C.) leigh, N.C.)
