Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Ky.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2417].
3. As we find, there are conditions which have prevented and do prevent the better normal physical functioning. These are rather specific in their nature, though only more recently has that of a rather long standing condition become rather a specific aggravating one in the physical forces of the body.
4. We find that in some times back there was a disturbance of a temperature, and of a nature that weakened the general vitality of the body.
5. There was a strain in the segments along the spine, especially in the upper dorsal and lower cervical area; after which there was a period of a disturbance now and then as of a pain, or as a low aching, through the shoulders and shoulder blades.
6. This depression here (in the upper dorsal and lower cervical area - and between the shoulders) has gradually caused lesions to form between the 4th and 3rd dorsal, the 3rd and 4th cervical; and the deflection of the energies, or of the nerve supply.
7. Thus the hindering or slowing of the circulation has made for definite conditions that are now aggravating to to the bronchi and larynx area; thus producing a little hacking cough which only at times causes any great amount of phlegm to be raised from the throat or lungs - when there has been an excess of cold or congestion.
8. This as we find is not a direct affectation of the lung, save sympathetically, but rather the bronchi and the larynx, AND the nerve muscular forces of the trachea being affected by this low amount of the body-electrical forces as impulses. Thus some spasmodic conditions are caused,
2417-1 Page 2
especially if the body has been lying down for some time and then arises.
9. With the depressions in the lower cervical, the gradual cutting off of the nerve impulse has now involved the supply to the sensory system; so that not only the general health if affected but the nerve impulse to the eyes themselves is hindering and causing an accumulation, as WELL as the lack of impulses for the circulation causes accumulations about the ends or the areas of the optic forces themselves. Thus gradually there is coming a hindrance to the vision.
10. These as we find are the general conditions. By the general depleted conditions, other portions of the body also suffer at times - as indicated in the manner in which assimilation takes place, the disturbances at times when excesses of acidity or cold through the system affect the alimentary canal in the eliminations - with an excess at some times and at others the lack of the proper amount of eliminations through the kidneys.
11. All of these as we find are rather of a sympathetic nature and of a general run-down condition for the body.
12. We find that these may be materially aided. It will require a little time, patience and persistence on the part of the body in making the applications for corrections of this nature. It will necessitate that there be periods of application of one nature, a rest from same for a period, and then applications of other natures - as to produce first the eliminating, in part at least, of the pressures indicated that hinder the nerve impulse and impoverish the blood supply, and through same impoverish the functioning of the organs affected by same.
13. Bronchi, lungs, larynx and trachea, as well as the more specific organs of the vision and of the hearing, as well as taste, are INVOLVED, but not so severe as the others in the present.
14. First, then:
15. We would begin with osteopathic adjustments. Have these at least three times each week for the first few weeks.
16. After nine to twelve adjustments have been taken, leave them off for a week, to two weeks.
17. THEN begin the adjustments (not before) with special reference to eliminating the subluxations which exist in the upper dorsal and through the lower cervical area; coordinating then - in that series of treatments (and they should be taken only about twice each week) - the lumbar and sacral axis WITH those corrections that will have been made through the upper dorsal and through the cervical areas. In the second series, you see, there would be more attention
2417-1 Page 3
given to stimulating the nerve impulses to throat, to head, so that better eliminations are set up.
18. It may be necessary to repeat these series of adjustments some two to three to four times; that is, having a period of adjustments, then a rest period, then a period of adjustments, and so on.
19. During the rest periods between the series of the osteopathic adjustments, we would do these:
20. Each evening, just before retiring, apply the Violet Ray (had machine, bulb applicator) for three minutes along either side of the spine.
21. Then afterwards massage the area thoroughly from base of brain to at least the middle portion of the spine with an equal combination of Peanut Oil and Olive Oil.
22. These we would keep up for ten days, during each rest period from the adjustments, you see. It is not necessary to use these during the period of the osteopathic adjustments, unless the body finds that it relaxes - and then it would only be used as a relaxing to the body. But DO use them during the rest between the series of adjustments, you see.
23. Also from the very beginning, as the adjustments begin to cause greater irritation to bronchi and larynx, use an inhalant. We would prepare this so that the fumes may be inhaled through the mouth and through the nostrils as well. But the solution in an eight ounce large-mouthed container in which there would be a cork prepared with two vents in it, neither of which would extend into the solution but into the space above same. Both vents would be kept tightly corked except when in use, or that cork may be removed and another solid cork used to prevent evaporation when not being inhaled. The solution would be prepared in this manner:
24. To 4 ounces of pure Grain Alcohol, add - in the order named: Oil of Eucalyptus...................20 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin........15 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp................5 minims, Tolu in Solution....................20 minims. Shake the solution well. Inhale through one of the vents into the mouth and into the bronchi and lungs - the FUMES; NOT as a spray, not the solution itself - but the fumes from same. It also should be inhaled into both sides of the nostril. This may be done two or three times in a day, or especially of night and morning. This is only as an

antiseptic, and an allayer of irritation in the bronchi, trachea and larynx.
25. As a tonic, we would take ADIRON; one pellet at the noon meal, and one at the evening meal. Keep this up as a tonic THROUGHOUT January, February and March; and at least the latter portion of the present month, see?
26. In the diet - we would keep away from too much of starches. Otherwise, we would keep a well-balanced diet of vegetables, fruits and meats.
27. All of these we would keep in their regular order as indicated - the periods of adjustments, the periods of rest during which we would use the Violet Ray and the massage, etc. When the body begins to feel better, do not quit. There will b periods of a great deal of help, and at other periods there will be seemingly some irritation - but keep these up, for we will correct the general health, retard the loss of vision, and aid in bringing bettered conditions for the body.
28. These we would do until the middle of February, at least, and then we may give further instructions.
29. Ready for questions.
30. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet [which was enclosed] of directions to Osteopath, Dr. Martha Beard. See extra sheet [which was enclosed] for druggist in preparing inhalant, also illustration of type container needed. ADIRON is manufactured by The Lawerence Laboratories, Chicago, Ill. It sells for $1 a bottle of 60 tablets. Let us know about ten days before your period of treatment is completed - about the first of February, that is - so we may make an appointment for a Ck. Physical to give further instructions.) ions.)
