Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2448], present in this room.
3. Now as we find, there are those disturbances of which the body should be warned, rather than those that may be said to be of a diseased nature. There are rather those diseased or disturbing tendencies that may become disease in the body.
4. These in their basic conditions have to do with the assimilating forces, and the abilities of the body to produce resistances in the body.
5. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2448] we are speaking of, present in this room:
6. The blood supply indicates a form of anemia. Thus we have quite a variation at times in the numbers of the blood cells through the body. This arises from the lack of proper assimilation of that consumed or eaten by the body. We find that this is caused by an unbalancing in the chemical forces, or in the relationships between the alkalinity and the acidity, and the more in the lacteal reactions in the system.
7. This causes those periods of weakness, as well as disturbance with the functioning activities in the organs of the body at periods.
8. The nervous forces of the body naturally become sources of distress at times, being impoverished from the general debilitation that arises. Yet the real causes are from that indicated. Thus it may be said that these are the effects or the results, and yet the general nervous conditions become disturbing - producing the lack of ability to gain rest from attempted relaxation, or at times when the body
2448-1 Page 2
attempts to rest there occurs the conditions of jumping or jerking - causing the nervous reactions. These at times give expression in the lymph and emunctory activity, and we have a form of nervous indigestion.
9. These, of course, arise from those segments or areas when there is not the full relaxation from impulses of the nervous systems in their coordinating one with another.
10. As to the organs themselves of the body - we find brain forces and reflexes are very good.
11. The organs of the sensory system are sympathetically disturbed.
12. Throat, bronchi, lungs, and larynx - in the lungs there are warnings indicated respecting the body-building forces; for these are areas that naturally - with the form of nervous disturbance, as well as the bad assimilation - are inclined to cause such disorders as to bring about anxieties - unless precautions are taken in relationship to the general conditions of the body.
13. The heart's activity - this under some impulses is quickened, under others there is a slowed condition. This is more of the MENTAL than a physical force.
14. In the digestive forces - here, too, as may be indicated from the disturbance of the glandular system, - there needs to be the precautions, especially, as to the diets that would make for better assimilation, AS those stimulations are given for the gland activity AND the general functioning system.
15. From this lack of coordination, and the sympathetic reactions in the body, we find disturbances in the activity of the thyroid, also in the adrenals.
16. Then, in making for corrective forces, as to ward against those inclinations and tendencies - we would begin rather with these:
17. First - in the diets, refrain from those things that are acid-producing in the body. And yet there are certain FORMS of acids needed; such as all citrus fruits - these should be kept for the body, but there should be precautions as to their combinations with other foods. For instance, do not have the citrus fruits AND cereals at the same meal. In most of the fruits, take the pulp WITH the juices themselves, for the reaction of this BULK is needed in the activity of the lacteals.
18. There needs to be more of those vitamins especially of A, B-1, D and G. These preferably, for this body, would be taken through the CHARACTER of the diet; though in the present we would add those combinations found in ADIRON, - for this carries not only the necessary vitamins in their
2448-1 Page 3
proper balance but the iron, as well as the acids needed from the calcium - from the cod liver oil in same. We would take at least one of these tablets with each meal taken.
19. And eat the meals! but not merely that these may be eaten, but that they may supply those combinations that will build the body-forces!
20. Use plenty of yellow corn meal in the diet; yellow carrots - raw as well as cooked; all foods that are yellow in color - as yellow peaches, whether canned or raw; and especially pears, apricots, plums. These should be a portion of the diet each day; not all of these at once, but alternate them.
21. Have plenty of the whole grain of wheat, or cracked wheat, as well as the steel cut oats - not the rolled oats; as in cereal - these cooked thoroughly! Have these at least once or twice a week as a cereal.
22. Most of the vegetables, for this body, should be prepared in their OWN juices - as in Patapar Paper.
23. As an inhalant we would use the fumes from Apple Brandy. Do not drink the brandy, but inhale the fumes from same. Prepare this in a keg - a charred oak keg - so that the fumes may be inhaled; having two holes in one end, but so that they may be kept tightly corked except when being used - and open when there is the inhaling of the fumes from the Brandy. Put half a gallon of Apple Brandy - NOT Applejack - in about a gallon container. Keep where it will be easy for the evaporation to take place, or for the gases to form in the space above the Brandy, you see. When the fumes are inhaled, it will act not only as a purifier for the throat, bronchi and lungs, but will be a stimulation to the circulation. Use this at least once or twice each day. Do not attempt to inhale too much in the beginning, or it will be inclined to produce too much intoxication for the body.
24. At various periods during these conditions, have three to five treatments in succession by stimulating osteopathically the 4th lumbar, 9th dorsal, and from the 4th dorsal to the upper cervical.
25. Doing these - being consistent, persistent - we will bring the bettered conditions; and we will remove much of those toxic forces from the body.
26. Ready for questions.
27. (Q) Is my present place of employment unhealthy mentally and physically for me? (A) It becomes very aggravating at times, but if the physical conditions were improved these associations might be made more congenial.
28. (Q) Are any of my friends and associates unhealthy for me?
2448-1 Page 4
(A) This is to be determined much by the own self. If you think they are, they are! But they may have need of you! Are you healthy for them? See, this works both ways!
29. (Q) Is there anything wrong with my left breast? (A) With the general glandular conditions improved, we will find that these conditions will disappear.
30. (Q) What is wrong with the big toe on my right foot, and what may I do for it? (A) This, as we find, is merely mis-shaped in the shoe, or the wear; and if there are precautions taken as to the fit, and with the general health improved, and the better circulation from the lumbar area, this condition will disappear.
31. (Q) Do I need to wear glasses, and if so, do the glasses I am now using need changing? (A) They will need changing after the treatments have been followed, but we wouldn't change them in the present. In close work, wear glasses; but if there are the osteopathic corrections made, you may soon discard them entirely - if you so desire!
32. (Q) My feet and hands stay continually cold - what may I do to help this? (A) Change the circulation! This is what we have been telling you about all along. There is a lack of blood, and a lack of circulation through the extremities.
33. (Q) What is wrong with the left side of my jaw, and what may I do for it? (A) We do not find anything WRONG with it - only the general debilitations, and it finds expression in any portions of the body where there is weakness.
34. (Q) How may I gain weight? (A) Get well so you can eat more, and assimilate more!
35. (Q) What can I do to keep my fingernails from splitting? (A) Add the vitamins necessary so that the glandular forces, and especially the thyroid, are improved. Take a few doses or drops of Atomidine occasionally; say once a month, just before the Period, take one drop of Atomidine in half a glass of water before the morning meal, for three to five days. Also massage the fingernails with Atomidine. It may stain for a bit at first; but get the system going better and we will find this will be different.
36. (Q) What causes the phlegm or mucous in my head, nose and throat, and what may I do for it? (A) Those conditions through the bronchi and lungs, the
2448-1 Page 5
natural slowing of the circulation, and the lack of blood pressure to carry the circulation. All of these conditions are included in those suggestions already made - as to the diet and the use of those things to purify these portions of the body.
37. (Q) What may I do to relieve the pain at the beginning of menstruation? (A) This is a part of the general condition as indicated. For the acute conditions, apply hot salt - in a bag, you see - to the areas in the small of the back. This will relieve. But remove the cause of this, through the general conditions indicated, and we should have no more trouble.
38. (Q) What exercise should I take? Should I continue taking swimming lessons at the William and Mary gymnasium? Is the horseback riding detrimental? (A) Under the present conditions, horseback riding is detrimental. Swimming and walking are very good, but don't do too much of it. Later, when the general conditions are improved, horseback riding will be well.
39. (Q) How much sleep do I need? (A) Eight hours - each twenty-four.
40. (Q) Do I have tuberculosis; if so, how may I cure it? (A) You have rather those inclinations, as indicated; you do not have tuberculosis. You MAY have it, if you allow the mind to dwell upon same or do not go about to remove the disturbances that may lead to same. DO those things suggested. But above all, let the mind be of constructive influence, ever. Be not only good, but good FOR something. In each contact, in each activity every day, make those acquaintances, those activities, BETTER by thy association with same! See in others the good. Do not deny or try to cover up those things that are of a detrimental or an evil influence; just encourage in self and in others the good - and the good for a purposefulness.
