1. HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2455].
3. Now as we find, there are disturbing influences in the physical forces of this body which prevent the better normal functioning.
4. While there are very good conditions in many ways, these because of their nature may become quite disturbing to the body unless corrected.
5. We find that there is rather a complication of causes, though the effects at times arise from one or the other.
6. Then, these are conditions as we find them with this body, [2455] we are speaking of, present in this room:
7. In the blood supply we find there are the effects of poor coordination in the eliminating systems. Thus at times there is a form of strep that brings pus-forming activities even to the surface - as indicated in the effect produced in veins along the limbs and in portions of the body at times.
8. Also this condition has produced a greater disturbance in some of the glandular activities. The disturbance in the circulation, as to the coordination of eliminations, causes the disturbance to some glands; while some glands are overactive and part of the pressures produced in the body have deflected the energies in the circulation to portions of the body (and thus in nerve supply). Consequently, there is incoordination produced in the eliminating channels.
9. We find that these have not as yet affected the organs themselves except as to their cycle of functioning at times. Thus there are periods when the glandular activity becomes disturbed by this general or complicated distraction in the
2455-1 Page 2
system.
10. Thus at periods we have distresses through portions of the muscular forces - as across the lumbar and sacral area at times; at others a fullness in the chest, not only the ordinary reaction from the avoirdupois but a shortness of breath at times, a trembly sensation through the whole of the nervous system, and the tendencies for flushes over various portions of the body.
11. The conditions to head and throat, the certain kinds of headaches that cause distress to organs of the sensory system, all of these are reflex - as we find - to the general condition which has been indicated that is of a complex nature.
12. In making for corrective measures - this would require, then, that consideration be given to ALL of these forms of disturbance.
13. First we would begin with having some three to four thorough osteopathic relaxations; with particular reference to the cervical and upper dorsal, but coordinating and also CORRECTING those pressures in the lumbar and sacral axis.
14. When beginning the osteopathic manipulations and adjustments, begin also with taking each day a level teaspoonful of this compound:
15. To 1 tablespoonful of Sulphur, add: Cream of Tartar.........1 tablespoonful, Rochelle Salts..........1 tablespoonful. Stir these thoroughly. Preferably have them mixed with mortar and pestle - not just stirring together but mixing thoroughly.
16. During the time this compound is being taken, be very mindful not to allow the feet to get wet. This doesn't mean not bathing, but do not get them wet as from outdoor activity or the housework. Do not allow the body to become too tired from standing on the feet too long. For, these would tend to aggravate rather than to aid in better eliminations. For, under the wet conditions, the body would be more easily susceptible to cold. These properties, though, will so purify the system that cold and congestion, the cough, the shortness of breath, will be GREATLY benefited.
17. After the four osteopathic adjustments have been given, begin with the hydrotherapy treatments. These would include sweats, though do not have the temperature too high in the dry cabinet. Preferably have some fume bath with same, - using Witchhazel in the fume. Use the fume inside the dry
2455-1 Page 3
cabinet, you see, by putting a tablespoonful of Witchhazel in half a pint of water and letting it boil as in a croup cup; letting the steam from same settle over the body in the closed cabinet, see?
18. Then have a thorough massage and rubdown following the sweat, to stimulate the circulation; and especially in the massage use an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil, for the heavy veins on limbs and the irritation to the superficial circulation - for the increasing of better eliminations.
19. These sweats and massages we would take at least once a week (after they are begun) until at least five have been taken.
20. During that period there would be given at least one colonic irrigation, preferably after the first sweat or massage - after there has been the taking of the compound indicated for purification of alimentary canal - that is, the Sulphur compound, see?
21. Keep the eliminations well.
22. First have the osteopathic adjustments, then the corrections through massage and hydrotherapy; and we should find much bettered conditions for this body.
23. Then as to the diet:
24. Four times each day - about thirty minutes before each meal and at bedtime - take two ounces of grape juice (preferably Welch's) in one ounce of plain water - not carbonated water.
25. Do not take carbonated drinks of ANY kind!
26. Do not eat fried foods of any kind, save a little crisp bacon if desired.
27. Do not eat white bread.
28. Do not eat too much of pastries, pies, cakes or the like.
29. The more ordinary solid foods are very well.
30. As to potatoes - the yams may be taken; but if white potatoes are to be used, take only the peelings. These are very well for the body, if a taste can be cultivated for same.
31. Ready for questions.
32. (Q) Is there any place you would recommend where the hydrotherapy treatments might be taken? (A) There are places in Norfolk where they may be given, - we would suggest same - it's a very good service.
33. (Q) What osteopath would you suggest? (A) As we find, any in sympathy with the suggestions here indicated.
34. (Q) Will an operation be necessary?
2455-1 Page 4
(A) Not if these applications suggested are followed correctly - to eliminate those conditions where the pressures exist that are causing the plethora through the lymph. [GD's note: The "plethora through the lymph" was verified by the physician later - see 2455-3 and 2455-4 in re cyst on womb.] These with the massage and adjustments and hydrotherapy will be corrected.
35. (Q) Will the diet you have outlined help me reduce? (A) About thirty pounds. Don't take it off too quickly, but do it in the manner as indicated.
36. (Q) How can I gain a better understanding of my children so that they won't worry me so? (A) If there are better physical conditions, we will find that the attitudes towards the children as well as others will be helped a great deal. Know that thy own mind is the builder. The mental attitude should be such that ye do not ask of others - thy children or anyone - that ye would not, or do not, do thyself! The attitudes should be constructive, ever; that is, with the correction to children or with the advice or counsel to - or thought of - another, ask thyself: "What would I do under the same circumstance?" Ever as He gave, "As ye would that others should do to you, do ye even so to them."
37. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (2/21/41 GD's note: See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for the Osteopathic and Hydrotherapy treatments. I'd suggest that you take both copies to Dr. Curtis Hudgins, Bankers Trust Bldg., and when the adjustments are completed follow his advice as to the proper place to go for the hydrotherapy. Let us know the place you decide on. Regarding the Irish potato peelings - you can either have baked potatoes and ONLY eat the jacket; or you can put the peelings on in a little water and stew them, then drink the juice. Whenever you have potatoes for the rest of the family, you could take yours this way - the iodine and other properties in the potato peel would be good for your glandular system.)
