Time of Reading 2:30 P. M. ..., Ohio. (Questions in re Radio static eliminating device #4)

1. (Q) GC: Why did static eliminator fail to work? (A) EC: For two reasons, as we have here. Not sufficient for the vibration to be removed, as it were, from the chambers in which it is eliminated; that is, not sufficient opening in the base. Not sufficient in the vibration as eliminated between the disc - thick - as in this. This is a device that will eliminate static as attached and when attached to a radio receiving set. We have a tube (glass) and in this tube the wire (copper - flat) on which there are three discs in sets, each in the turn in the figure eight and of sufficient distance apart for each disc, which is very small distance and very thin in itself, so there are no vibrations accorded between separated portions of disc, else we lose the removal of static force and turn same current into the same source as received, as we had in this (referring to one as taken). Part removed, yet the discs show now by their vibration the separation of same. These of mica discs.

2. (Q) Should not mica discs be much thinner than 1/32 of an inch - say from two to four thousandths of an inch in thickness? (A) So there are no separations, whether thin or heavy, in the disc itself, that thickness, that thinness, depending upon the piece of mica. Then in thickness and in the ability to give the vibration. These are adjusted according to the needs of the instrument to which they are attached.

Again we have as this: With the adjusting in tube of the position of vibration received from center of tube, upward, we have the longer wave links from that close to the base. The shorter wave links from that close to the top of the tube. The slot or bees in the disc are for the vibration to be, as it were, taken in the space from which the tube occupies, the attachments to same between detector and distributor and in vertical position.

3. (Q) Where is best place to couple on static eliminator in radio frequency set - just before coupler or just behind

coupler, or between radio frequency tubes and detector tube? (A) We have just given.

4. (Q) Is enough air space let into eliminator through quarter inch holes in base? (A) We have just given. We have again as this: We have here. We can give as this. Tube, the disc, the wire, the connection as given. The position as given for wave links, the thickness, the space between the discs, the formation necessary to secure discs to produce elimination and beeswax. This will eliminate when properly set, properly adjusted, static forces as received in radio receiving set. Sufficient air around post through which adjustments are made. All vibration passing through the figure eight, on which discs are put or stationed, not passing by short circuit or by jumping in base.
