Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2493].
3. Now, as we find, conditions are such that they may easily become very serious with this body.
4. There are those disturbances that are allowing accumulations of poisons that may hinder either or both the liver and kidneys in their normal functionings.
5. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2493] we are speaking of, present in this room:
6. The blood supply indicates the nature, the character of disturbances, by its very impoverishment - as well as its being contaminated with the lack of secretions in liver, owing to some portions - or a lobe - becoming very much involved; causing some disturbance with the juices that are a part of the functioning for assimilating certain characters of foods necessary for the sustaining of a balance.
7. Also acute conditions are indicated at times across the back, through the area of the kidneys and below - to even the locomotories in the lumbar area - that allows the accumulations.
8. Hence this in the forms of the uremic poisoning is further impoverishing that which IS assimilated in the blood stream.
9. Thus these, as we find, are the sources or the causes of the disturbances.
10. We find that these arose first from those obstructions by lesions in the areas from which these organs receive their impulse.
11. Then there was an unbalancing by the lack of the proper
2493-1 Page 2
assimilation, which has further impoverished and overexercised the functionings of the organs themselves.
12. IF the organs become impoverished or involved as organic disturbances, we may find such accumulations as to cause segregations or separations - and the effect of those infectious forces as may set up an activity of their own.
13. These we find as the sources of the disturbances.
14. There will be required patience and persistence to better the conditions. Then with the bettering of conditions, do not leave off those things suggested - or too soon make for activities as to bring about greater anxieties to the functioning system, and thus produce a relapse that would be worse than the present conditions.
15. First, then, we would begin with a series of the Castor Oil Packs at least twice each week over the liver and gall duct area. Let these extend to the caecum on the right side, or from the rib area (in front) to the hip on the right side. Apply at least three thicknesses of flannel well saturated with the oil - this warm, and then - with the protective measures taken to prevent soiling linens or the like - apply heat, as from the electric pad. Keep the Packs on for at least an hour each evening for three days - or each day for three days, see? This would be one series. Then at the end of the third day, take a tablespoonful of Olive Oil.
16. Then leave off the Packs for three days, then begin all over again - and continue in this manner.
17. Once a week apply across the kidney area on the back an equal combination of Mutton Tallow (melted), Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor. Massage this into the body, then apply a cloth saturated with the compound, and then apply heat.
18. Begin with the osteopathic adjustments with special reference to those areas in the upper dorsal and extending to the lower lumbar and sacrals; coordinating the lower cervicals and throughout the cervical area with the corrections made.
19. As to the diet:
20. Keep away from any carbonated drinks of ANY kind.
21. Keep away from potatoes or foods growing under the ground, save carrots or yams or turnips.
22. Have principally the leafy vegetables rather than the pod.
23. Fish and fowl may be taken, but beware of other meats.
24. No fried foods.
25. Keep up all of these for at least six weeks; then we would give further instructions.
2493-1 Page 3
26. This condition may become serious unless proper precautions are taken.
27. Take at least a little exercise each day in the sunshine, as much of this as practical. Walking or even sitting in the sunshine is well for the body.
28. Ready for questions.
29. (Q) What causes and what should be done for heartburn? (A) This is part of the disturbance as we have indicated, and if the body keeps away from fried foods or those characters of foods indicated, this should be GRADUALLY disseminated.
30. (Q) Should glasses be worn? (A) Would be well.
31. (Q) Does my type of work [Moving picture projector] have anything to do with my condition? (A) No. This arises from those conditions as we have indicated.
32. (Q) What osteopath would you suggest? (A) Richardson.
33. (Q) How often should these treatments be taken, and how many? (A) Twice each week and for the full six weeks. Then we will give the further instructions. For, as indicated, unless there is real response, serious conditions may arise.
34. We are through for the present. Two copies to Self (one for Dr. M. L. Richardson, Bankers Trust Bldg.) Copy to Ass'n file (See directions [which were enclosed] for preparing Castor Oil Packs. Let us know about a week before the six-week period is up, so we may make an appointment for a Check Reading to give further instructions.)
