Time of Reading 3:35 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2524].

3. Now as we find, there are those conditions rather of which the body should take cognizance in the present, and eradicate those tendencies which exist.

4. Thus disturbances may be prevented from arising, rather than allowing the inclinations to increase and become constitutional disturbances.

5. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2524] we are speaking of:

6. The blood supply indicates an unbalanced metabolism. The greater tendency is in the activity of the hepatic circulation, and the inclination towards excesses in the pancrean gland forces; thus quickening the activities through the lower hepatics, excesses in the activity of the bladder and the kidneys, and a slowing - with an excess pressure inclination in the heart's activity.

7. We find that these arise from two sources; a pressure in the areas of the 9th, 8th and 7th dorsal, producing an activity that becomes excessive to the pancrean and part of the liver activity; though the slowing of the liver causes certain foods not to react properly, or a type of indigestion that is of a sympathetic or nervous nature.

8. These as we find are the sources and the causes that should be taken into consideration in the present.

9. As to the activities upon the nervous system - we find that both the assimilating system and the general activities from the lumbar axis downward tend to slow or to quicken the reflexes. There would gradually become greater disturbing forces unless measures are taken for the correction of same.

10. In the functioning of the organs themselves - brain

forces and reflexes are very good, save at periods when there is that sluggishness felt, and other periods when there must be physical activity.

11. These extremes come as a natural consequence of the system's attempting to resist those activities in the deeper circulation.

12. The activity of the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys is not always coordinant. There are those diabetic tendencies, or the excesses that arise from the activity of the pancreas; which makes for those variations in the normal reflexes to heart, lungs, liver and kidneys.

13. These causes if taken in time may be eradicated, though the weaknesses and tendencies exist - and there should be those precautions even after the causes of the present condition are eliminated; those precautions as to diet, in keeping a better and a more normal balance.

14. Then, in making corrections for the condition in the present:

15. These we would do through the hydrotherapy methods, - such as by Reilly.

16. DO NOT give THIS body electrical vibrations, in any form, in the present!

17. Rather give a very light Cabinet Sweat first, followed by a Fume Bath of Witchhazel and Balsam of Tolu (the Tolu in solution, not in the gum). To the pint of water in the Fume Bath put half a teaspoonful of Witchhazel and a teaspoonful of the Balsam of Tolu in solution.

18. Follow this with a rubdown first using Pine Oil.

19. And make a correction in the 7th, 8th and 9th dorsal.

20. Follow this with a Sitz Bath.

21. Then have a general rubdown last, of course, with alcohol.

22. We would have these treatments once to twice a week for regular periods, consistently - say for some fifteen of such adjustments and rubdowns. Then we would leave them off for three to four weeks. Then go back occasionally - twice a month, or three times a month.

23. And these as we find will keep the body physically fit, - if the proper precautions are kept as to the diet.

24. In the diet - keep away from too much of fats.

25. Have plenty of leafy vegetables, and these cooked in their own juices.

26. At least twice to three times a week take the Jerusalem artichoke in the diet - once raw, twice cooked. Never use one larger than a hen egg, but when it is cooked it may be seasoned with butter - not too much of any pepper, though cayenne may be used in moderation.

27. Ready for questions.

28. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Dr. H. J. Reilly, for the hydrotherapy treatments. If Jerusalem artichoke is not on the market, it may be ordered from the John A. Salzer Seed Co., LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Only order a small quantity, a pound or so at the time, as it does not keep very long. At your convenience, let us have a history of your case to the time of obtaining the Reading, so we may have something with which to compare our information; also that we may index the Reading under the proper heading as to ailment, etc.) etc.)
