Time of Reading 11:25 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Daylight Savings Time. N.Y.C.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2558].

3. As we find, there are definite disturbances that cause rather a complication of conditions; preventing the best normal functionings through the body.

4. These have to do with conditions that are rather latent, but that affect the body through the sensory and thus much of the emotional forces of the body at times.

5. Then, these are conditions as we find them with this body, [2558] we are speaking of, present in this room:

6. Through subluxations that have existed for some time, glands have become involved in the condition - that make for secretions as affect the centers along the spine that direct the activity of the eliminations in some of the organs.

7. Much of the administration has been towards the effects of the disturbance, rather than the sources or the causes.

8. There exists in the last lumbar axis a definite depression, or subluxation. This has an effect upon the adrenals. Thus at times this uneasiness across the small of the back; affecting at times the activity of the kidneys, especially as related to the influence in the eliminations of poisons, or the acids; that, through the vagus center, in the dorsal and cervical branch of same, has produced an incoordination in the optic nerve plexus.

9. Thus we have had administrations to those portions of the eye itself, or to the psychic portion and the nerves that are a branch from the fifth nerve plexus; and these produce a reflex to the general conditions of the body.

10. To be sure, these have their reflex through the

2558-1 Page 2

imaginative or the nerve system of the sympathetics to other portions of the body; as in portions of the system irritations arise as of a superficial nerve disturbance. These produce anxieties at times - as in the condition that exists in the scalp, and that affects the organs of the pelvis at times. All of these are reflex or sympathetic conditions.

11. Then, in meeting the needs - or in making corrections that would be of a definite and a permanent nature for relief, there needs to be taken into consideration - first - those specific conditions of subluxations in the spinal system, and the effect these produce upon the general health as related to sympathetic reactions.

12. Hence - under the supervision or direction of such an one as Dobbins - we would make those corrections specifically in the last dorsal, in the vagus center, and through the cervical area; slowly, but about every other period of the treatments or adjustments, make specific adjustments in those areas.

13. Have about twelve such adjustments and corrections. Make these about twice each week, but one a general relaxing treatment, the other the corrective treatment.

14. After about twelve of the osteopathic treatments have been taken, then begin with the local treatments directly to the optic nerve and the eye socket and the pupil itself, with the very low electrical treatments. These should not be begun, however, until after the first twelve osteopathic adjustments. We would have the electrical treatments made by Erlanger - take them about twice a week for at least four or five; then leave them off a week or two weeks, and then have two, three to four more; leave off another period, and then have them again. These are better when given in series, you see.

15. Of course, it will be necessary also to have other osteopathic treatments occasionally, throughout the period, to keep the activity of that as would be administered in the electrical treatments.

16. During such periods, keep the eliminations well through the alimentary canal.

17. Throughout the periods we would keep a good antiseptic wash to clear or purify the secretions as will be exuded during such periods of treatments.

18. As to the matter of the diet during all of such treatments for the correction of these disturbances:

19. Take excess quantities in the diet of Vitamins B-1, C and A; which are best taken in the special manner of preparing certain characters of foods. For instance, it

2558-1 Page 3

would be well to have quantities of all foods that are yellow in color; including carrots, of course, both raw and cooked - and in preparing these it would be preferable to cook them first in Patapar Paper and then combine with fresh peas that are cooked with cream. Yellow squash - this also cooked in its own juices - as in Patapar Paper, so that all the salts of same are preserved in same; yellow corn, yellow peaches, and especially all foods that are yellow in color. Have some of these often in the diet; not as to become obnoxious, but have them often in the diet.

20. Also have plenty of raw vegetables such as grated carrot, lettuce, and especially celery; and occasionally use with same the alfalfa - fresh - not a large quantity, but three to five stems or the tender stems of same fresh. Include plenty of watercress also with the green vegetables. Have some of these each day.

21. No large quantities of any flesh or meats; though fish, fowl or lamb may be included in the diet at most times - though NEVER fried.

22. Do these, being consistent, and as we find, we will bring bettered and near to normal conditions for this body.

23. Ready for questions.

24. (Q) Definitely what may I expect in regard to the condition of my eyes, resulting from the hard knock I had on my head two years ago? (A) The knock, as combined with the subluxation existent in the last dorsal center, has caused this disturbance to the fifth nerve, see? And this involves the eye to such an extent that, if the condition is allowed to continue without the osteopathic corrections and the electrical treatments suggested, there may be brought about iritis - that is, inflammation of the optic nerve itself. However, these corrections made osteopathically, and the electrical applications, should not only prevent such a condition arising, but should eventually eliminate the possibilities of the eyes filling. We would take these treatments in series, you see; taking them for some weeks, then leaving off, then taking again - then leave them off for six months, and do it all over again!

25. (Q) Why have I always lacked the proper strength and resistance, so that I have to rest so much? (A) From the very nature of those conditions that exist in the vagus and lumbar center, or last dorsal and lumbar center. These cause the slowness of the elimination of the uric acid. This saps the vital strength. Thus the special diets indicated for giving resistance and strength, not only to the weakened portions, but for the general body.

26. (Q) What is the cause and remedy for the horrid sensation I have while sleeping, as if there were an electric shock to the solar plexus at the moment of awakening, which is physically painful and frightening? (A) As we have indicated in the description of the disturbing conditions, this arises from incoordination between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system. Thus it comes to be a part of the imaginative system, or there are the attempts of the body nerves to coordinate with the cerebrospinal nerves, see?

27. (Q) Are the many other painful dreams I have from the same cause, and what should be done to prevent them? (A) Make the osteopathic corrections in the cerebrospinal system, and we will find that most of these will disappear.

28. (Q) Is this why I feel so worn out most of the time? (A) It is a contributory cause; but the lack of the vital forces is the source or basis - which, as indicated, is produced by the slowing of the system's ability to assimilate certain vital energy-producing vitamins, see?

29. (Q) My brain and eye doctor, who examine me together, and who keep me under observation, do not tell me much except that I am better; but my eyesight is gradually fading away. What is causing this, and is there anything that may be done to preserve my eyesight? (A) As has been described. Do these things as we have indicated, consistently and persistently. Do not grow overanxious; for we will find relief in these applications.

30. (Q) Will I regain my eyesight? (A) You will regain your eyesight.
