This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of Mr. David E. Kahn, 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y., this 8th day of May, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2560], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., Virginia Beach, Va., recommended by Mrs. [1479] and Mrs. [1472].

Born October 19, 1875, in Detroit, Michigan. Time of Reading 10:50 to 12:00 P. M. Eastern Daylight Savings Time. ..., N.Y.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name; also that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '37 - yes, changes - '35 - '30 - some anxieties with unpleasantness - '28 - '15 - an illness - '87 - mood [moved?] - '85 - " etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2560].

4. In interpreting the records as we find them, not only might there be much given respecting the advancements or developments made by this entity in this particular experience but the unusual sojourns of the entity in the material plane.

5. For these, with the developments, have given the entity abilities at times to "see" or experience the veil being lifted. And while much at times becomes confusing, there are means in which these abilities may be centralized, or governed, in ways as to be of satisfaction and helpfulness to the entity, also to bring helpful influences in the experiences of others.

6. These interpretations are chosen with the desire and purpose to make this a helpful experience for the entity; enabling it, through personal application, to so apply abilities as to manifest more and more that purpose the entity has builded, and for which it entered this material

sojourn.

7. First, the life seal of the entity is not that as may be easily interpreted, unless all of the material appearances are taken into consideration. Hence this may possibly be better interpreted in analyzing that as may be accomplished by the entity in this particular sojourn.

8. As the entity is "sensitive," all forms of suggestion or direction may become a part of that as would bring about an urge for activity on the part of the entity.

9. The astrological aspects are not existent because of the sun or the moon or the planets being in a certain position. For, know that you are a co-creator with the divine; if you apply yourself to those abilities that are yours - even in this material sojourn.

10. Also know that the indwellings in the earth are as lessons that find expressions through the emotions, or through what is termed a "sensing" or an intuition - when it arises to its greater degree of activity in an entity. And this oft arises in the experience of this entity, as may be understood from the activity expressed in the form of the life seal as it glows.

11. Astrologically, then, we find Venus, Jupiter and Uranus and Mercury as portions of the entity's activity.

12. Saturn is as an intercepting influence at times; and, as the entity should understand, no urge, no influence exceeds the WILL of the entity itself - which is activative through the body, mind and soul.

13. For, all of these influences are one. The entity finds itself in a three-dimensional plane of consciousness in the earth; that in the earth as mind, that in the universe as the Godhead, that in the spiritual realm as the influence of all as one. Yet each influence, each phase has its part in the experiences of the entity; thus requiring judgments by the will as to that selected or chosen as the channel of activity for that particular phase of experience.

14. Analyze self oft, then. For, know that ye are a part of, that ye are part of the controlling influence of the universe. Thus, that indicated through astrology is the use to which the entity, through its sojourns in the earth, has put that accredited to the consciousnesses in which ye as an entity have vibrated or manifested.

15. For instance - in Venus we find the love of the beautiful; the abilities to influence great numbers of induals [individuals] - through the combination of Jupiter and Venus. Yet the entity is oft considered as one that is too easily led by others. Yet the entity is one that unconsciously aids or helps or strengthens any cause it may

take to itself, whether others are the directing influence or power or whether it be a choice of the entity itself in whatever direction taken; whether for constructive purposes or for that as might tear down.

16. Then, condemn none. For, there are universal and spiritual laws that are a part of the self as well as of the universal consciousness. For, like begets like in every phase of material, mental and spiritual experience.

17. For, as in the material world ye find that ye do not gather figs from thistles, neither in the mental world may one think hate and find love in one's bosom; neither in the spiritual realm may one entertain the desire for ego to express irrespective of others and find the beauty of the spiritual thinking life.

18. In Uranus we find the interest in those influences of the spiritual force, or the forces of the universal nature. Yet these at times have blown cold and hot. Thus, those impressions of unstableness in self have arisen in the minds of others at times. This is rather because of the character of extremes, as indicated by the use of abilities in varied experiences; than indifference in the real inner self.

19. Study well, then, the influence ye have upon those ye meet day by day. For, again, with what measure ye mete, with what judgment ye act, so comes it back to thee. For, to have love one must manifest and show love in one's life and one's dealings with others. To have friends one must show self friendly.

20. And above all, KEEP that ability to see the humor in any experience, whether it is the most sacred, the most cherished experience, or that which comes as a trial or as a temptation from outside influence.

21. Keep and be able to see - keep that ability to see the ridiculous even in the most sacred thing. Not that it may be used, of course, as to hinder others, but in thine OWN life. These keep.

22. In Saturn we find the sudden changes that have come into the experiences through this particular sojourn. When most of these are analyzed, however, it is found that they arise from definite choices having been made by the entity; whether this is dealing with individuals, circumstances, or even things.

23. Do not tire too easily of that which if cherished might grow into the beauty of the sunburst, that is a part of - or that shape of - the seal.

24. As to the appearances in the earth that are finding expression in the emotions or the senses of the body-expressions themselves - these we find have been many,

and many that are influencing the entity in the present, and those that may be of longer period. Remember, in spirit there is no time but now.

25. Before this, then, the entity was in the land of its present nativity, during those periods of the early settlings in what is now known as Chicago - then Fort Dearborn.

26. It was during those periods when there was the beginning of the building up of an association, or the establishing of tradings with those people of that country - especially toward the northern portion of that land.

27. The entity, with the companion in that experience, made great gains in material things, as there were the understandings of the usage and the advantages to be had by the ownership of minerals of the regions, as well as the activities in which there was the fur trading as well as the forms of foods that were a part of the needs during the experience.

28. Thus we find that the entity was very disturbed, as were many others, with the destruction of the Fort; that brought disappointments to many, as well as the separation of the mind or soul from the physical being of many in that period.

29. The entity, however, with many others, escaped to the land now known as Virginia; through the aid of one of the leaders who led that retreat - as it might be called, - taking advantage of the knowledge that had been gained through the associations with the natives in that particular period.

30. There the entity found itself in that city which later became the capital, or that was then considered the capital, not only of that province but of the land - or that area.

31. Hence the entity finds much pertaining to nature's storehouses having much to do with the material life in the present experience; the associations or activities with those things having to do with the products of the soil, the products of the earth, the products of the forest. All of these have brought and may bring in the present experience the greater material benefits.

32. From that experience also we find much that comes to the entity at times as visions of things in nature, visions of experiences of the hordes that sometimes are quite ugly - others that are seeking help, that are directing those things towards new openings, new understandings for this entity.

33. Through those periods of activities the entity grew into associations with many of those who had to do with the formulating of the policies for this land.

34. Hence we may oft find the entity in the present able to discuss first principles with those who may be so minded as to turn to such, knowing scarcely from whence such judgments come.

35. The name then was Anna Divoak. It may be said that the entity gained materially, mentally, and in the latter portion gained much spiritually. For, that of freedom became a part of the entity's experience.

36. Thus the present ability to "give and take" and yet not be moved by reverses or abundance - and here most individuals fail. They may struggle and gain through adversity, but in prosperity fail to give proper values to spiritual, mental and material things.

37. Before that the entity was in the Norse land, when there was the breaking up of many of the traditions of those hardy peoples; when they entered into the Hun land and in the eastern portion of what is now known as France and those portions.

38. There the entity was in the opposite sex, and a leader, a ruler, a director in the affairs of the people as well as in the principles under which varied groups and various states of activity were formulated.

39. Again we see those principles innate in the present experience of the entity; its abilities to pass judgments upon or to draw upon rules of order and the regulating influences in the experiences of groups to which the entity may belong or in which it may be associated or affiliated.

40. Thus we find those principles because of which the entity has at times been termed, "You have the mind of a business man." These are innate and manifested, dependent upon the abilities of the entity to coordinate circumstance with its ideals in every phase of relationship.

41. The name then was Doloros Olin. The entity gained, the entity lost; gained when there was the expression of the universal consciousness - or for the good of all; lost when there was the selfish or personal gain expressed in some of the activities.

42. Thus we find at times the shadows fall. Thus in the seal we find the two red lines.

43. Before that the entity was in the Roman land, during those periods when authority was usurped in other lands; at that period when the early church was being formed in Laodicea.

44. There the entity was the companion of one in the Roman authority, yet one who was a most helpful influence in bringing the activities to a more unified effort - even when divisions arose between the leaders of that particular

church.

45. The entity was acquainted with Paul and Barnabas at that period; siding with the teachings of Barnabas in preference to some of Paul's. In the experience the entity gained throughout its activity. For, there was the application of that principle that indeed the spirit of truth is manifested in just being kind, just being patient, just being longsuffering; showing brotherly love, forgiving to those who are easily beset by the weaknesses of appetite or of the flesh.

46. For, the entity aided much in those periods, not only that group in authority from Rome but the weaker vessels in the church activity.

47. The name then was Cilcia.

48. In the present experience, practice much of that ye attained and gained there; and ye will find that there will shine more and more into thy experience that feeling of the closeness, the oneness of that promise, "If ye will be my children, I will be your God." These words are personal, as ye experience, as ye know. They are promises that bring to remembrance the beauties, the joys of welldoing; not so much the material things but that as may not be bought with a price - save the WILL to be a manifestation and an expression of that creative influence ye call God.

49. Before that the entity was in the Persian or Arabian land, when there was the building up of the "city in the hills and the plains," where there was the establishing of those centers of trade along those trade routes from the Indian land, the Mongoloid land, the Caucasian land, and that known as the Tao [?] or the IndoChina land.

50. The entity was among the Grecians who were sent into that "city in the hills and the plains" in the attempt to undermine the efforts of the teacher there. Yet the entity, coming under the influences of the healing forces, saw the opportunities for material gain by the using of the great influence wrought by the teacher Uhjltd in that city, and thus began to establish closer associations in the efforts and in the endeavors of those groups that passed to and fro through that city.

51. Thus the means of exchange, the spices of the east, the linens and the gold from Egypt, the gold as well as the ivory from the IndoChina land, all became a part of the entity's activities through that experience.

52. The entity gained, the entity lost, the entity gained through the experience - as there were periods of doubt and fear.

53. Fear is that element in the character and in the

experience of individuals which brings about more of trouble than any other influence in the experience of an entity. For, when ye are sure of the right path and follow it, ye do not fear. Hence when the entity was sure, it went about or became the channel rather to magnify the truth in the land, with a purpose that was not prompted by egotism nor selfishness.

54. Hence from those experiences we find the pearls of great price that are a part of the sunburst rising between the two red marks.

55. For, the entity learned that the pearls of great price are not merely those activities from the affliction of a mollusk in the sea as it resists; but that as ye in thy experience resist that as would lead to selfish desires, the gratifying of selfish motives, ye build the pearls of great price.

56. The name then was Elia - beautiful in body, beautiful in soul through those periods of activity, as it gained through being a helpful force.

57. The visions ye have seen of the idol that bows to thee, and the people in the unique costumes and high hats, the long necks, and the varied things - these arise from those experiences and are - in their interpretations - warnings to thee that ye walk not merely the straight and narrow way but purposefully in thy counsel, in thy aid to others, warn them also of that sin that so easily besets their own ideas - and lack of ideals.

58. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods when the emissaries were prepared or chosen.

59. Or, the entity - in its periods of purification in the Temple of Sacrifice, and through its training in the Temple Beautiful - chose to become an emissary.

60. Thus the entity entered into the land of Said [Saneid?]; becoming a soothesayer there; feeling, experiencing the greater activity or influence that might be exerted (that was exerted) through the counsel to those who came to the entity with their problems of every nature. Though these were not the trainings of the entity, they were the applied principles in the East Indian land.

61. Hence we find the interest evinced by the entity in the songs of those of old, as they were and are given as the means in which the problems of individuals in every walk or phase of life have become as lessons in their activities; and how that they come again to that which is the basic principle of the manifestation of spirit in the earth, "As ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them."

62. The entity then was in the name Ibeen-em.

63. In the present we will find that much of those abilities to interpret, to vision, to feel those forces that are without and within, measuring and directing, warning and judging those things that are the experiences of individuals.

64. And in the seal it makes that crown that forms the center of the sunburst.

65. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land. There the entity was among the children of the Law of One, in the periods just preceding the first breaking up of that land; when there was the use of many of those influences that are again being discovered, that the sons of Belial turned into destructive forces.

66. And in the present experience the entity again sees those things being turned into destructive channels that were intended for benefits in the experience of individuals; as the use of transportation and communication, and the like.

67. This brings peculiar feelings to the entity. Fear at times arises as to the outcome of all the turmoil. Yet know, as ye did preach, as ye did practice - as the princess of that land - ye must hold fast to that which is good; determining that others may do as they may, but as for thee and thy house, ye will serve a LIVING God.

68. The name then was Aholi.

69. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then:

70. These are indicated from the seal, that has been partially given; the sunburst with the two red lines, and then the rest of the eight-pronged sunburst filled with the pearls of the virtues of the thinking entity, crowned with the principles of helpfulness as it branches out to all.

71. Realize the influence that is shed even by the careless word that may be spoken; how that the smile makes a day entirely different for those who are burdened with the cares oft; how that the handshake may strengthen those who have in themselves lost hope, discouraged by the lack of the strengthening influence that may come from those who walk oft with their God - and their God not of themselves; needing not justification but glorification, in the manner in which ye measure to thy friends, thy foes, thy acquaintances, that blessedness of the love of God which passeth all understanding.

72. In the abilities, then - keep that faith, that ability to coordinate physical, mental and spiritual phases of human experience.

73. Study oft how ye may interpret those visions, those activities that are gradually becoming more and more a part

of thy experience; by entering into meditation. Not by attempting to write, not by attempting to hear, not by other than going within.

74. For, His promise is that in the temple - in thy temple - He will meet thee - in the holy of holies. And thy body is the temple of the living God. There He will meet thee.

75. Keep that tryst, then, in thine own heart oft with Him, - and there day by day ye may be shown the way in which ye may use TODAY that thou hast in hand to encourage, to enliven, to strengthen thy fellow man!

76. MUCH thou hast to do. Keep the beauty of thy life seal aglow IN the hearts, in the minds of those ye meet day by day, by being to all that as may save the more.

77. Ready for questions.

78. (Q) What is back of the peculiar psychic power I have, and how may I use it to benefit myself and others? (A) Analyze what has been given here. For ye have caught a glimpse of same, and the manner to develop - of course - is within; not without.

79. (Q) Why is it that I am always hindered in my writing, - that I get to a certain point and then become baffled? (A) Not given to thee to write. For, as has been indicated, the channel is not by writing but by living, by teaching, by doing day by day - not as in making great plans ahead, but as ye meet with individuals find their problems - be a good listener - and ye will find how ye may strengthen them the more.

80. (Q) Is it that I am not supposed to tell the things I know? (A) LIVE them, rather than write them!

81. (Q) Why is it that I often say things I have no intention of saying and only realize it after they are said? What causes me to do this? (A) As indicated, the confusion of impelling influences. Thus the needs for keeping oft that meeting with thy better self within thyself.

82. (Q) Where have I before met or been associated with my husband? (A) In the experience about Chicago and Williamsburg. 0 Let thy light keep bright within thine own purpose. Analyze thy purposes oft; not as to become self-centered, not as to justify anything. For, He requireth not sacrifice at thy hands, but that ye GLORIFY Him before others.
