This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of August, 1941, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [2489], Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

P R E S E N T

Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. [2570], Mr. [2489] and daughters [2571] and [2572].

R E A D I N G

Born January 22, 1899, in Vance County, North Carolina. Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Virginia.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '34 - yes - a change - '27 anxiety - '18 - activities changed - " etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we are given the records here of that entity now known as or called [2570].

4. Very beautiful is the life pattern as it has unfolded in this experience. The symbol of the pattern would be a rose, partially open. Only a rose, and it turned toward the right, not to the left.

5. In choosing the interpretations from the records as we find them here, these are chosen with the desire and purpose that this be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to fulfillthose purposes for which it entered this present sojourn.

6. As indicated from the seal, or the emblem, there has been an unfoldment. The entity is not one that has been or is presumptuous, yet one well acquainted with those influences needed in the lives and experiences of others.

7. Thus, intentionally or unintentionally, the entity will always be a pattern for others. By the acquaintanceship or association, others will naturally do or be something other than that they would have done or been without that meeting with the entity.

8. The entity thus becomes a leader, an interpreter for others. This brings not only responsibilities but greater

opportunities in the experience of the entity.

9. While it has been and is a home builder, the entity also is one that contributes to character-building in the experiences of those with whom the entity comes in contact.

10. Hence any form of group or associated works, or reading or studying clubs, would be an outlet for the entity; to enable the entity to more perfectly fulfillthose abilities.

11. And as application is made, keep that faith which has prompted the entity. For, as the rose represents purity, as it represents the aroma, the sweetness, the beauty of its fragrance, then let the pronouncements, the manner in which the entity may lead, guide or direct others be in that direction. For in such each finds, as does the entity, that which responds in itself to that which becomes the prompting, the complement, the helpful force, that brings to fruition the seed of the spirit of truth.

12. Hence in thy associations, in thy directions, first know thine own ideal and the author of that ideal - in spirit, in mind, in body; and thus apply same with those manners indicated in sowing the seed of the spirit - patience, long-suffering, brotherly love, kindness, gentleness. For these are symbolized in the rose.

13. In giving the astrological aspects - these we find are little in keeping with the ordinary aspects of such; save in the high mental abilities from both Venus and Mercury.

14. Hence the entity has applied and does apply judgment in its associations, in its activity, in its appreciation of beauty in all its forms; music, art - these in their various forms are a part of the entity's experience.

15. As the entity has applied self in its sojourns through the earth, so is the entity today that development of what it has applied in the sojourns and experiences through the earth.

16. The entity COULD have made an excellent teacher either in domestic science or in mathematics. While from the common terminology these do not appear to be of the same source, the entity finds that it not only applies mathematical ratio but mathematical precision in economic and in domestic affairs.

17. Hence, fortunate indeed are those who may come in contact with the entity, especially those of the entity's own household.

18. As to the appearances in the earth and their influences through the emotional natures of the entity:

19. Before this, during the early settlings in the land of the present sojourn, the entity was among those groups who came to the land as a choice to be companions to settlers in

the land.

20. Hence we find expressed in the entity's latent and manifested abilities the attempting of new things, the taking of any formula and testing same. These are a part of the entity's experience.

21. Then the name was Charlay [?] Borgoten.

22. The entity gained throughout that sojourn. Also from same we find the latent and manifested purpose in what may be oft called the love of freedom, yet at the same time the ability to think in terms of the other fellow. This is oft overlooked by many.

23. Those abilities to write also arise from the experiences of the entity through that sojourn. For, as the activities of the companions and associates of the entity brought into being many of those things that were to be kept as records for the political, economic and social order, these were a part of the entity's experience through that sojourn.

24. Before that the entity was in the Promised Land, during those periods when there were the activities especially of the Roman guards, the Roman rulers.

25. While still in the present sex, the entity's associations with the Roman forces brought much into the experiences of the centurions that made for preservation of the tenets and truths which have had, do have, and will have yet more to do with the purposes of man's relationships in the material world.

26. For, the entity came under those directions and influences of the Master as He walked in the earth; being of those of Bethsaida who cared for Him - for there the Master rested.

27. Throughout that activity the entity gained. Material hardships came from persecutions, as those changes came by the injection of the Roman influences, yet the entity mentally and spiritually unfolded; bringing assurance, hope to many - as the activities of the entity continued in the Roman force or power.

28. In the present experience, turn oft to those activities when there were the communications at Lazarus' resurrection, and the last of the teachings of the Master to the disciples on the night of the betrayal. For these ye learned well. Apply them today, in thine own experience. For His promises are sure today, as indicated through those periods of activity when - though separated from thine own peoples, from thine own land - ye made and brought hope to those who came in contact or in acquaintanceship with thee through that experience.

30. Before that the entity was in the Persian and Arabian land, coming from the Grecian experience - when there were those attempts to overcome the teachings of Uhjltd, and those activities that brought about the teachings that are today a part of a group understanding (Zoroastrianism).

31. Coming in contact with the spiritual, the material, - yea, all of those activities undertaken by the teacher Uhjltd - the entity rejected the Grecian activities and became a nurse.

32. Hence the healing influences that are in the experience of the entity, as all feel better even by the entity's presence in the sick room. This, too, may be developed - if there is the desire in this direction; yet as the instructor there would be the greater outlet - yet live that ye teach.

33. The name then was Esrelemda.

34. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods when there were the activities in a united effort for the interpreting of the teachings of many lands; which arose from those tenets and disputes with the return of the Priest and the entrance of the Atlanteans.

35. However, the entity was from the Persian land - but an instructor, a helper in aiding those "things" or automatons, as would be called today, to a better understanding; as well as aiding in the Temple of Sacrifice and Temple Beautiful.

36. Hence the teaching abilities - the abilities at times even to awe others with the very knowledge and understanding that is latent and a part of the entity's unfoldment.

37. The name then was Il-Ed-Rel.

38. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then:

39. As indicated, writing can be a part of the experience.

40. As a home builder and a teacher, no directions are needed - save study to show thyself approved unto that choice thou may make in thine OWN ideal. For, the law of the Lord IS perfect. That ye have heard. That ye know.

41. Apply that, then, in thy daily dealings. Be not weary in well-doing. Keep thyself unspotted from the world. No one else may tell a rose HOW to be beautiful, nor where nor when to give off its fragrance; but that freshness, that beauty comes from SPIRITUAL understanding.

44. (Q) How have I been associated in the past with the following members of my family, and how may I best help them in the present: My husband, [2489]? (A) An associate and a friend in the experience before this. Needs only the general encouragement. Make him know

he is capable as thou, and keep him in the straight and narrow way. In the Palestine experience, a companion there; journeying with him to the Roman land; worked well together. Ye may in the present. Again in Egypt there was an acquaintance; co-laboring in activities for others.

45. (Q) My daughter, [2571]. (A) These may be best seen by the paralleling of the experiences the daughter through the earth. These present a condition in which there will be seen the needs for direction.

46. (Q) My daughter, [2572]? (A) These again we will find closely associated in one activity; an acquaintance and relationships in others.

47. (Q) My father, [...]? (A) Especially in the Palestine land there were those activities in which ye saw suffering and yet encouraged that entity, now the father, to keep the faith.

48. (Q) My mother, [...]? (A) In the experience just before this an associate and a companion. In the Egyptian experience, mother and daughter there.

49. (Q) What talents, if any, should I try to develop more? (A) The leader in group activity and writing.

50. (Q) Would it be best for us to continue to live near ..., Va., or would some other location be better? (A) This is well. Use the place, rather than seeking others. Let it be in keeping with the material things, and build the spiritual and mental about that place wherever ye reside.
