1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions that may be asked:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2578].

3. As we find, while conditions are very good in many portions of the body, there are some tendencies and inclinations that should be taken into account, in the present; else they may become disturbing factors hard to deal with - unless in their incipiency the CAUSES of same are eliminated from the body.

4. These have to do with some glandular disturbance.

5. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2578] we are speaking of, present in this room.

6. The blood supply in the main we find very good, but there is an irregularity as to the pulsation. This comes about from an overactivity in the pancreas. And this at times causes excesses of sugar in the system.

7. This tendency to fag the nerve forces, then, may produce a nervous relaxation - as to cause too full a flow through the system, thus producing a condition in the katabolism of the body as to be detrimental. Or, it may turn to the activities with the kidneys as to become a disturbance to the digestive forces of the body, so that excess activities through same become as poisons to the whole of the circulatory system.

8. The nerve forces nominally are very good, but from the reflex conditions which exist as indicated there are disturbances at times to the head, the eyes, and to the general system through the soft tissues of the face.

9. These are merely reflexes in the present of those disturbances as we find indicated in the glandular force.

10. As to the organs themselves - we find brain forces very

2578-1 Page 2

good. Their reflexes are very good.

11. The organs of the sensory system at times respond to those conditions which have been indicated, and these cause some disturbance.

12. Throat, bronchi, lungs and larynx are very good.

13. The heart's activity at times is irregular.

14. The activities through the liver, pancreas and spleen are the sources of both the nerve and functional disturbance.

15. The kidneys are reflexly affected from the activities as indicated.

16. Organs as related to the activities of distribution of energies through the body at times become clogged, owing to the excesses that arise at times.

17. Then, in making administrations that would not only eliminate causes but prevent further reflex activities or effects from same:

18. DO NOT take hypodermically that of insulin or its counterpart!

19. But DO take - regularly, but periodically - the artichoke that carries such properties (the Jerusalem artichoke); so that the correction may be through the effects created.

20. Beginning about the middle of September, then, begin taking twice a week a Jerusalem artichoke - at least the size of a hen egg. Prepare this in its own juices. Cook it in Patapar Paper. Mix the juices with the pulp itself. For, the salts that come from same are the effective balance in the effect upon the system. Keep these regularly, twice each week - Tuesdays and Thursdays. Do this for some three to four months, leave off a month, and then begin again; keeping them in this ratio throughout the period or season that they may be obtained. Keep these fresh, not by trying to keep them in the icebox, but keep them in the ground - but they will have to be protected; for most any animal will attempt to take them!

21. Before beginning the artichokes, be sure to have at least two adjustments osteopathically; one of a general nature, one of a specific nature, in the areas of the 6th, 7th and 8th dorsal, where there has been a weakness. And then continue these treatments sufficiently to make the corrections needed in those areas. For, these weaknesses in the spine also account for - with the reflex activity upon the pancreas - the heaviness across the small of the back, and through the upper portion of the limbs. If these adjustments are carried out, though, we find that corrections will be made.

22. Then, refrain from too much sweets or too much of fats.

23. The principal meats should be fish, fowl and lamb; and not too much fried foods.

24. Carbonated waters are not good for the body.

25. Wines are good if they are the light or the red wine, but these as foods rather than as a beverage (that is, taken in the late afternoon with black or brown bread).

26. Plenty of vegetables that grow ABOVE the ground rather than too many of those that grow under the ground.

27. Do these, and we will make for much better conditions with this body.

28. Ready for questions.

29. (Q) What causes dizziness? (A) This unbalancing of the equilibrium by the change of the blood pulsation.

30. (Q) What causes right thigh to be larger than left? (A) This is from a pressure which has long existed there. This should gradually change, but of course will take time, with the corrections osteopathically made in the 6th, 7th and 8th dorsal.

31. (Q) Why are legs and feet weak, and what should I do? (A) This comes from those pressures as indicated in the upper portion of the sacral and lumbar area. And when we remove the stress off of these, we find that these conditions will be improved.

32. (Q) Why are arms weak? (A) These are not so weak as they are tired, easily tired, - which comes from the pressures from the same area, that reflex through the brachial center or plexus.

33. (Q) Why am I always fatigued? (A) As just indicated. This taxation to the glandular force takes from the body the vitality, and thus the change somewhat in diet - and especially these precautionary measures not only as to the corrections osteopathically to be made, but as to being careful in the diet.

34. (Q) Are these symptoms, just acquired recently, due to change of living habits, or overweight? (A) These are from pressures that have gradually grown with the body, and with the changes these become contributory causes. But they are much farther back and farther-reaching than that, see?

35. (Q) Is anything wrong with my teeth? Do they need special attention? (A) These will be materially aided by the general condition being improved. We would have specific work done AFTER there have been at least four osteopathic adjustments, and at least a month of using the Jerusalem artichoke indicated

2578-1 Page 4

to relieve those stresses from the kidneys - which will relieve stresses on the teeth, as well as about the face - that fullness which comes at times, or the feeling that comes at times. THEN we would have the teeth attended to locally.

36. (Q) What causes and what should be done for small puffs in corner over eyelids? (A) These we find would respond - that is, with the other applications suggested - to the use once or twice a week, in the evening, of a poultice of scraped Irish potato. Use an old potato, not a new potato. Scrape and bandage this on for an hour. This will take away the inflammation, and clear the vision and irritations about it. But be sure this is done only after at least three or four of the osteopathic corrections have been made in the spine.

37. (Q) Should left heel remain higher or should I go back to normal shoe? (A) The heel should remain higher for the time being. But there will be some adjustments made here, when the stress is taken off of the pelvis axis. Do these things, as we find, if we would keep physically fit and prevent disturbing factors arising in the general physical forces of this body.

38. We are through for the present. Copy to Self " " Ass'n file (See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for Osteopath. If not on the market, Jerusalem artichokes may be ordered - by the pound, from John A. Salzer Seed Co., LaCrosse, Wis.
