This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of Mrs. Robert R. M. Emmet, 1 Grace Church St., Rye, New York, this 29th day of November, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Madame [2630], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [2174].

R E A D I N G
Born January 1, 1889 (or Jan. 14th as per American calendar), in Moscow, Russia. Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces, giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life, also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '29 - yes, a disturbance - '31 - '30 - '28 - '27 - '23 - a change '17 - yes - 1901 - beautiful girl! - 1900 - " etc., on back to birth date - "January 1st, 1889".)
3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2630].
4. In interpreting these, unusual conditions present themselves. Two records here - one that might have been, one that is. These will merge, these will be completed - if not in this experience, in the next.
5. The application of itself in the interpreting of the spiritual truths that make up the mysteries, is a part of the entity's abilities.
6. These interpretations we would choose, though, from the records here, with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfillthose purposes for which it entered this experience; that the application of self may in no wise hinder the completion of the intents when incarnating again in the material plane.
7. In giving the interpretations, these then we choose; knowing that these must be applied by the entity, not as

mere policies, not as mere tenets, but as a living experience of the purposes and the hopes that are the innate desires of this entity.
8. Know in self that in giving a helpful influence, the magnifying of virtues in others and the minimizing of faults is the beginning of wisdom in dealing with others. Not that the evil influence is denied, but rather that force within self is stressed which when called upon is so powerful that those influences about self may never hinder. For, each step, each opportunity may be made a steppingstone, not a stumblingstone, in dealing with problems, with conditions, with individuals.
9. To be sure, urges arise from the astrological aspects; that is, because an entity is born at a given period certain influences are indicated that have existed and that do exist. However, these are only urges. And no urge, - physical, mental or spiritual - surpasses the will of an individual.
10. Thus the outcome of any development, any retardment, is according to the use the entity makes of opportunities, and the ideal with which the entity entertains those opportunities.
11. It is not all of life, then, to live, nor all of death to die; but what the entity does WITH the opportunities as they present themselves.
12. In Mercury we find the high mental abilities, the character or manner in which the entity approaches problems, those things as would hinder or aid.
13. Reason, then, is an innate and a manifested characteristic of the entity. Reason with the mental, the spiritual, the material as one - ever.
14. We find in Venus the abilities of this entity, - teaching, ministering, creative in expression, and those activities that give or indicate the appreciation in others of their abilities to give expression to the arts in EVERY direction.
15. These become a part of the entity's innate and manifested experience.
16. In Saturn we find those differences, those sudden changes, those tendencies towards the physical weaknesses that arise.
17. Yet, if the Uranian forces are made more manifest - though they indicate themselves in the extremes to which the entity's experiences arise at times - these may be overcome. Let not the extremes be Saturn bent, then, but rather as the true Uranian influence - the interest in the manifested application of creative forces - spirit, mind; not matter,

not those things that make afraid.
18. For, with those abilities indicated more than once in the directing forces of Venus, there comes those innate abilities for the better self to give expression. Know there are hidden forces, latent within self, not aroused to their best ability, their best activity.
19. In the spirit of truth, as manifested in Him who is the way, the truth, the life, may those activities be aroused.
20. For, know - with surrounding thyself with the consciousness of the Christ-Force - no intent, no purpose of any force may contend with that spirit.
21. As to those activities in the earth - these have been quite varied. Not all may be indicated here; but these to show, to indicate the characteristics, as well as the individual purpose and the individual application that has been and may be made in the present:
22. Before this, then, the entity was in the land of the present sojourn, during the pre-Revolutionary period - though that period when there were those preparations in some portions of the land.
23. The entity came to this land, not born in the land, among those that sought freedom of speech, freedom from persecution of church - that freedom implicated in the first text of the Declaration in this land.
24. Then the entity was active in those portions of the land now known as New York. In the beginning the entity's activities brought discouragements. Yet, with the establishing of those activities in which there were the attempts to teach the free hand arts, the abilities to apply the interpretive dance, the entity applied self; then bringing into the experience of self and those about self the true meaning of freedom in a free land.
25. The name then was Deus Michiels. In the experience the entity mentally gained, bringing the greater hopes, and yet a longing for those activities of which it was made aware by some associations of the material nature.
26. Before that the entity was in the Grecian land, when there was the choosing of a group for active service in the Persian-Arabian land, in the "city in the hills and the plains."
27. There, coming in contact with the weirdness of the "city in the hills" as well as the tenets from the land of Said, as well as the Egyptian mysteries - these brought consternation to the entity. And in the beginning there was the attempt to apply those tenets which had been implanted by those preparing the entity for activities in the land.
28. Coming under the tenets and the teachings in the "city

in the hills," the entity, too, was among those who led the revolt against those who had sent that group to the city; becoming a healer, a soothsayer, a reader - not only for those of the city but for those who had foregathered there during their periods of journey from the east and the west; as well as those tenets that later became a part of that activity.
29. For, the entity became the daughter-in-law of Uhjltd, the teacher there; aiding in the establishing of the teachings of that son Zend, that made the variations with those applications. Yet all of the abilities, all of the activities of the entity then were NOT full, complete. For, the entity lost its hope in self.
30. The name then was Zuraba.
31. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods when there were those journeyings of a peoples from that land.
32. The entity then was among those who were in the household of that leader who aided in the preparation of the peoples for that journey; thus having acquaintance with the lawgiver of that period - as the entity then was the wife of Aaron, that aided in the leading from that land.
33. The activities came then into the interpreting of the office of priest, the office of the ceremonies that became a part of that peoples - as to the meaning of the mysteries from the spoken as well as the veiled word.
34. Thus the entity gained in those periods, and yet finds in self today ritual becoming something necessary yet something apart, something that must be adhered to and yet something that must be hindered.
35. Know, the awakening has come. Arouse self to the abilities of COMMANDING those influences that would direct the way.
36. Before that the entity was among those groups that came into Egypt from the Atlantean land.
37. And during those periods when there were the activities for the preparation of individuals and of groups to be active in preserving the tenets of the Priest as well as of the children of the Law of One, the entity was active in aiding individuals in their preparation. First, through the Temple of Sacrifice, and then their preparation - as would be termed today - for vocational guidance.
38. Hence the abilities as the teacher, as the instructor, lie latent and manifested in the entity in the present.
39. The name then was Asa-Math-Erl.
40. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:

41. First, turn within self. Know what is thy purpose, thy ideal - physically, mentally, spiritually. That declare.
42. Then, by the very choice of the activities through the material plane, as well as the abilities to MAINTAIN that relationship with the Creative Forces, there may be the calling upon that Christ-Force within self so as to bring that power, that might, that ability to the forefront to CONTROL the active influences about self - physically, mentally, spiritually.
43. The abilities lie in teaching, in ministering, in vocational guidance, in the directing or helping of others to help themselves. Just as self finds self, it may enable others to find themselves. For, no individuals may teach that they are not themselves.
44. Ready for questions.
45. (Q) Since I am definitely drawn to occult things, how can I free myself from the fear instilled by an early horoscope which stated that in turning to anything psychic I might open myself to the influences of black magic? (A) No better formula may be given than this: Read Deuteronomy 30th, as being directed to thee BY those influences ye helped establish among a great peoples. Then study and analyze John 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th. Not as rote, again, but as a PRACTICAL experience, as may be the experience of any soul that seeks to make that creative force, God, as manifested there, the rule of the life. No greater psychic lived than Jesus of Nazareth. No greater activity was manifested than by the entity itself in that directing of the household of its own sons; two of which practised black magic and were destroyed. These build that fear. In Him it is eradicated.
46. (Q) Is my career to be the dramatic teaching of others, as I am now doing, or my own stage career personally? (A) As we find, a GREATER work may be accomplished in teaching others. WE would give, in groups, in associations where ALL PHASES of man's life are to be reached - in that period that is to be the reconstruction period over, or following the turmoils now existing.
47. (Q) Am I doing the right thing educationally in my school? Are my emphases in my dramatic teaching correct? (A) That is to be judged by self, according to what is thy ideal. WE would not find fault with same. Study to show thyself APPROVED unto that ideal. Keep the spirit of truth ever foremost.

48. (Q) What within myself brings on the periodic, long-drawn-out illnesses, which seem to check the things I am doing? (A) Fear - latent within self; as may be analyzed from that which has been given. Put this fear OUT, and we will find the healing, the cleansing for that direction ye were chosen, ye have applied, ye may apply again.
49. (Q) What have been my past relationships with [2174], and are we fated to work together in the dramatic field in the future, as I seem to be strongly led to do? (A) The GREATER activity in those reconstructions, those buildings in the Egyptian period; for, both were Atlanteans and of the children of the Law of One. Thy activities are fated to cross and recross many times, as they have. Here and now, much may be accomplished in the united efforts of these two. Let that be thy watchword which begins one of those portions intended for thy instruction, ever - "Let not thy heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
