Time of Reading 3:30 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Virginia.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2782].
3. Now as we find, while there are conditions that disturb the body at times, these are rather those of which the body should be warned; and measures taken in the present to correct the tendencies that at times upset the body - else we may find these conditions fastening themselves on the body, as it were, in such disturbances as to cause some functional disturbances as well as those that may turn to organic disorders.
4. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body:
5. First, in the blood supply - this we find with a tendency towards an acidity; that at times brings such disturbances to the adrenals as to produce pressures upon the sympathetic nervous system, in such measures as to cause lesions along the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nervous system junctions.
6. Thus in throat, in head, in the mucous membranes, there are produced spasms of irritation, or at times in the bronchi and larynx the feeling as of a burr or a distinct disturbance to those areas.
7. These, then, as indicated, are reflexes; though these may cause such disturbance - by this unbalancing in the chemical forces of the body-functions - as to cause even an asthmatic reaction - by the form of lesions produced, unless these conditions are removed.
8. These also tend to regurgitate or react upon the system through the adrenals, as to give a disturbance in the
2782-1 Page 2
kidneys and the eliminations of body.
9. Naturally, through this pressure, these would cause a disturbance throughout the sensory organism; coming to cause a distinct disturbance in eyes or vision, in taste and smell, or even to the hearing. All of these may become involved in the disturbances.
10. The reflexes from those pressures in the cervical, upper dorsal and the 6th and 7th dorsal area, bring about pressures upon the lower lumbar axis and the extremities become involved - that is experienced at times in the present as a heaviness through the pelvic area, and the limbs become tired, as especially in the ankle and feet at times, and a coldness across the abdominal area, with the accompanying headaches as may come from these; making for a combination of disturbance.
11. Also, without these corrections and the acidity brought nearer to normal, we may find the metabolism of the blood supply affecting the system through the circulation of heart, liver, lungs and kidneys; thus producing an abnormal condition in the blood supply.
12. As we find, if there are measures taken in the present to remove these, and precautions taken as related to the diet in combination with same, we may remove these disturbances in the present and bring not only bettered conditions in the present but prevent a disturbance later on.
13. We find that these conditions may best be removed by the hydrotherapy treatments as combined at times with corrective measures made osteopathically; but have first at least three to four good, thorough hydrotherapy treatments, as these:
14. In the beginning, have at least one good, thorough colonic irrigation, to remove those tendencies of the toxic effects in the body, that aid or assist towards that tendency for superacidity.
15. Following the colonic, there should be a very mild sweat in the dry cabinet - just sufficient to raise the temperature to a sweat. As the body begins to perspire (and do keep cold packs on the head, even when the fume bath is given - and watch the pulse with this) - put at least two teaspoonsful of the Witchhazel in the pint of boiling water for the fume bath, so that the steam - as in a croup cup or an open container - settles over the body.
16. Follow the cabinet sweat and fume bath with a rub with oils combined as follows: Olive Oil............2 ounces, Peanut Oil...........2 ounces,
2782-1 Page 3
Lanolin, melted......1 teaspoonful.
17. Massage the body thoroughly with this. Then follow same with an alcohol rub, of course, at the end.
18. Take three of these complete hydrotherapy treatments in a two-week period; that is, one at first, one at the last of the three weeks, and one in the middle. This does not mean that a colonic irrigation would be given at the beginning of each of these, but only at the beginning of the first hydrotherapy treatment, see? and then occasionally as needed thereafter.
19. Then have two osteopathic adjustments the next week, leaving off the hydrotherapy for that week, see? Do not take the hydrotherapy the week that these adjustments are taken. These should be made with specific reference to the lower cervicals, with the 3rd and 4th dorsal, 9th dorsal and lumbar axis. Also treat the feet and the bursa of the feet, so that the tendency for the strain in the limbs may be removed.
20. Then, after two of these, have two more of the hydrotherapy treatments - in a two week period, see?
21. THEN have at least five or six of the osteopathic adjustments, with those same relaxations and stimulating treatments as indicated. These, the adjustments, we would have done by Irvin. The others we would have done by a good hydrotherapist.
22. Then the diet; keep away from much fats. These, of course, tend to make for more acids.
23. Not too much of sweets.
24. Have at least a portion of one meal each day consist of raw foods; not too much of these, but a little - carrots, lettuce, celery and the like, at some meal each day.
25. Do not take any meats that are heavy, or rare, at all. Little or no beef.
26. Fish, fowl or lamb may be taken, but no fried foods.
27. Have plenty of those that carry sulphur and silicon, - or the yolk of eggs, as well as beets and the like. These will be helpful.
28. Do this, and we will make better conditions for this body.
29. Ready for questions.
30. (Q) Should the shots be continued? (A) These will not be necessary if these applications suggested are made properly.
31. (Q) What is the condition of the kidneys? (A) Overtaxed from those activities of too much sugar and too much tendency towards acidity.
32. (Q) The heart condition?
2782-1 Page 4
(A) As indicated. All of these are sympathetic one to the other. When we remove these pressures and take those precautions, that the colonics are given occasionally - properly, slowly but thoroughly - we will find great improvements here.
33. (Q) How may I eliminate nervousness? (A) Eliminate by removing those pressures upon the nerves in the system, especially by the character of treatments indicated. If we do these things, we will find much better conditions for this body. When it is practical, do have the Jerusalem artichoke as a part of the diet at least once each week. Cook it in its own juices, not with other foods. Cook in Patapar Paper. Take only one about the size of a hen egg once a week. Cook it in its own jacket, in Patapar Paper, and mix the juices with same. Season with salt and butter to suit the taste; not too much of butter, but sufficient to make it palatable. This carries much better properties for the body than does the shots.
34. (Q) When may I expect to see definite improvement in my condition? (A) By the time of beginning the last series of the osteopathic adjustments, we can see definite improvements. Do these things, as we find, and we will bring much better conditions and save the body from much trouble.
35. (Q) Should any seasoning be put in foods? (A) Not a great amount of seasoning; a little salt, but not too much even of salt. But make it so it is palatable, to be sure. Do not have it so insipid that it becomes obnoxious to the body.
36. We are through for the present. Two copies to Self (one for the osteopath, when you are ready for his treatments, after the first three hydrotherapy treatments. We refer you to: Dr. C. W. Irvin, Bankers Trust Bldg., Norfolk, Va. - however, you do not go to him until you have had one colonic, and three of the general hydrotherapy treatments as indicated) Copy to Ass'n file (See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for the colonic irrigation, which is to be at the beginning of the course of treatments. We refer you to: Dr. James R. Parker, Bankers Trust Bldg., Norfolk, Va. - just for this colonic irrigation.

See extra sheet of directions [which was enclosed] for the general hydrotherapy treatments, the first of which is to come immediately after the colonic irrigation. We refer you to: Miss Jane Witcher, graduate masseuse, 619 Taylor Bldg., Norfolk, Va. Be sure to do all of these and IN THE ORDER as indicated for each part of the treatment. This is important! If you cannot obtain Jerusalem artichokes on the market, they may be ordered from John A. Salzer Seed Co., LaCrosse, Wisconsin, for a few cents a pound. If everything is not clear to you, please have it explained to you in detail by Mrs. Marsden Godfrey, or her aunt, Miss Esther Wynne, 2709 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk.) lk.)
