Born January 13, 1884, at 4 A. M., in Winchester, Indiana. Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:40 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Ohio.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how; answering questions.

2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '38 - changes, though, in form - '36 - '12 - yes - '09 - " etc., on back to birth date. Then: "We don't want the orient, huh?")

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2783].

4. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them, these we choose with the desire and purpose that this information may be made a helpful experience for this entity; enabling the entity to meet some of those problems which appear in the experience, and to better fulfill the purpose for which it entered this present sojourn.

5. For, it is not by chance that an entity comes into an environ; it is by the choice of an entity, in that it may build in any material experience, or as influenced from those sojourns in other planes of consciousness during the interims. And the choices depend upon that the entity chooses as its ideal.

6. Hence the farther the entity gets from oriental systems or ideas (though the entity has been in same), the sooner and the better may be the outlook of the entity. While problems may still arise from such experiences, the abilities within self to meet and easily solve them are indicated.

7. In interpreting the records, we - as the entity should, in its judgments, in its activities - magnify the virtues,

2783-1 Page 2

minimize the faults; in others as ye would have others minimize the faults and magnify the virtues in self - in their judgments or their opinions.

8. When those urges that are latent and manifested in the experience of this entity through this sojourn are taken into consideration, these might be said to be the composite of the astrological and material manifestations:

9. One who is not easily understood by others; oft considered as cold and calculating in its reaction. And yet by nature the entity is just the opposite, but judgments are passed because of that diffidence that the entity expresses as respecting others.

10. Remember - in thy judgments and in thy dealings with others - if you would have friends, show thyself friendly to all. For, though one may have and be surrounded by many friends, no one ever had so many as to afford to lose a single one.

11. With what measure ye mete to others, it is measured to thee. For, as ye do to the least of thy acquaintance, or to thy enemies, ye do it unto thy Maker.

12. KNOW the author of thy faith, in spiritual things, in mental ways, and the material manifestations will be altered.

13. One that is oft considered as having an affair with this or that one, no matter what the circumstance. These have caused anxiety within the experience of the entity. But so live that ye judge not others and others will not judge thee.

14. Let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth, is correct; but do not appear in the attitude or the position of hiding one from another. This creates that atmosphere of distrust first in self, and others in thee.

15. These appear as latent and manifested urges arising from the astrological manifestations:

16. In Mercury we find the high mental abilities, and those tendencies for the entity to analyze people, as well as its interest in things, conditions, as well as individuals. These also lend abilities, as may be seen, through which the entity may find the channel of the greater expression in this material plane; as may bring the greater peace as well as the greater harmony in the experience. We refer to that of writing, but a very definite character of writing.

17. We find in Venus the expression or love of the beautiful, the expression of love of those things having to do with associations - which in the material expressions to others may bring the appearance of "affairs." Yet these may be used as steppingstones, not as stumblingstones. For, to

2783-1 Page 3

find thy ideal and to thine own self be true, ye will not be false to any.

18. In Jupiter we find the universal consciousness. Thus the outlet as the growth to which the entity may attain, if there will be the greater expression of that universal consciousness. For, the timidity that is manifested at times is fear, and the doubt in self. Know again, as given, the author of thy faith, and let it be of such a nature that ye may be sure it is in keeping with that ye once manifested - though under stress, that brings this fear in the present experience as a latent urge, or the fear of "What will people say?" So live that ye may tell EVERYONE where to get off, but be sure that you get off at the same place ye tell others! For, with the measure ye mete it is measured to thee again.

19. As to the abilities that may be manifested - we will find that in the latter portion of the earthly sojourn in this experience travel should be, yea will be a part of the experience, if the urges are carried forward as indicated; as a reader, as a lecturer, as a writer - or as one that would establish those definite ideas of group activity in portions of many lands.

20. While all the appearances in the earth may not be given, those that have a definite urge in the experience of the entity are indicated as having their part in the present. Some were passed during the eighteenth year of the entity's experience in this sojourn, when there were such definite changes in environ, in the outlook and in the manner of expression - which took that activity as to bring about an awakening to the entity. Some of those are well forgotten, some might be well renewed in the experience - through these latter portions of the entity's activity in the present sojourn.

21. Before this, then, the entity was in the land of the present nativity, near those places known as Dearborn, - then in the name Betty Hale.

22. With those periods of persecutions, the entity attempted - with many others - to leave those areas for the east and south. Thus there came periods of hardship and fear. Thus the expressions in the entity's present experience, such that often the entity is called one that drives a hard bargain with others. And this makes for that coldness of fear latent and deep within, for that of material as well as mental security.

23. Know, the real security - of mental, spiritual and material life - material expression - lies in Him. Be rich, then, in the love of the Christ-ideal, if ye would be rich

2783-1 Page 4

in mind and be SURE in that of material success.

24. For, ye came into the earth with naught; ye will not carry that with you that is of material valuation - only that as of mind and spirit that is as a growth in the consciousness that the earth indeed is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.

25. THAT, write about, THAT teach; as ye practice it in thine own experience.

26. The sojourn as Betty Hale brought disturbing forces, and the greater abilities of the entity's activity may be manifested from that - as combined with another sojourn many eras ago.

27. Before that the entity was in the English land, during those periods when there were those ideals as of the Crusades. And these, combined with the periods of disturbances brought by the church and state, brought to the entity then - as Catherine O'Reene - that stubbornness which is manifested in the present as pertaining to things of beliefs, tenets, rules, ethics, or those things that are set as laws and orders.

28. For the entity through that experience had periods with its companion that brought about turmoils respecting such tenets. Yet these were as but tests of thyself in the present, which ye may not conquer save in Him. Ye may first learn thyself, thy likes, thy dislikes, thy hates, thy fears; thy joys, thy sorrows. Are they unto the glory of that consciousness that seeks eternal manifestation of life? If not, they be of the material that brings shadows and doubts and fears, that make for turmoils and contentions.

29. Then, know in Whom and in what ye have believed.

30. Before that the entity was in the Roman-Palestine land, when the entity made the greater advancement; during that period following the Master's walk in the earth.

31. While among the Roman populace, the entity became acquainted with those who were associated with, yea kinsmen of - by flesh - the Master. Thus the entity knew of, not only embraced but practised in the experience, those tenets of the master.

32. To love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, thy mind, thy body, and thy neighbor as thyself, is the whole of the law - as ye learned.

33. Then in the name Sophia did the entity gain that which may yet in the present experience bring joy and peace, harmony in the experience of the entity; as the entity then in its own land, as well as in others, went about spreading that joy of the Christ-Consciousness.

34. So may the entity in the present, in its writings, in

2783-1 Page 5

its conversation, find that outlet as may bring the greater joy in this sojourn; and make for that growth, that development in which ye may indeed hear, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter into the joys of thy Lord."

35. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods of reconstruction. The entity was among those of that group dedicating themselves to the service in the Temple Beautiful, as well as the Temple of Sacrifice.

36. The entity gained, lost, and gained. For, entering in, there came those abilities to use those powers that subjugated the spirit of intolerance, and ye used same amiss.

37. Learn again that love, that activity as ye gained then, in the name It-Tut-Le, that brought the greater harmony in the latter portion of the sojourn - in the city of Thebes. There the entity was active in building up those tenets set by the Priest.

38. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, - these are abilities and confusion in the entity's experience; yet, as indicated, first learn to know thyself and thy desires, thy hopes, thy fears. Make them as one in that consciousness that is the hope of the world, as ye have known in Him.

39. Putting away fear and doubt, joining with hope and gladness, ye may give much, MUCH to the world that will bring joy. For it is not some great thing; it is here a little, there a little, line upon line, precept upon precept, that the entity grows in grace, in knowledge, in understanding. And THAT is the purpose for which each entity seeks expression in this material world.

40. Ready for questions.

41. (Q) What causes and what should be done to overcome unsatisfactory memory? (A) As ye apply self in analyzing thy purposes and thy aims, much will come back to thee - in the way of memory. For, remember, this is as all gifts of the spirit. For as He hath given, "If ye love me and keep my commandments, I am with thee - and will BRING to thy remembrance ALL things from the foundation of the world." This is not beyond the mind of this entity. Apply daily that ye desire to remember, and ye will grow in memory. For it must come first in spirit, then in mind, then materialize. For, it is the natural law.

42. (Q) Is there anything I can do to achieve more substantial recognition of my deceased husband's invention which revolutionized the rubber industry? (A) This will in its time come about. Rather apply that as

2783-1 Page 6

would be in the memory of, in the recognition of thy husband's efforts - in the material as well as the mental manner. These bring about the material, by the spiritual and the mental being applied in constructive thinking, constructive growth.

43. (Q) Please advise me as to my association with Dr. [...], a friend of my late husband, who has been so kind to me. We are not congenial enough to marry, but our continued friendship makes for gossip. What should be my attitude and conduct in this respect? (A) So live that there is not a question mark in thine own conscience, and there will not be one in the minds of others. This has been and is too beautiful a friendship to be marred by gossip, yet thine own words oft condemn thee - as ye condemn others for their look and for their word. But keep in the way that IS opened to perfect understanding, and ye will grow to be more necessary to one another.

44. (Q) Why am I so often disappointed in friends who seemed to be so fine but turn out to be so terribly selfish and self-centered? Am I too intolerant, or have I no understanding of others? (A) Are ye not seeing the reflection of thyself, my daughter? As ye judge, as ye have disappointed, ye become disappointed. For that ye see in others is the reflection of thine self. Study to show thyself approved unto thy ideal; keeping SELF unspotted from condemnation of the world.

45. (Q) Please explain the seeming communications I have had from Harold Lockwood, an actor who died in 1918, whom I never knew in life. (A) As self is a "sensitive," at times, and as Lockwood and others seek expression, these oft become close to the borderline. Ye may help Lockwood by thy prayer, that he be released from the earthbound hope.

46. (Q) How can my situation of household help be met? Is there not someone who needs my home as much as I need competent help? (A) There are many who seek and who need. Take from among those that are refugees. These will bring to thee joy, as ye give them a way, a means of escape of their personal selves. As ye teach them the consciousness of love as manifested in the Christ, ye will find it in thyself, and supply material needs.

47. (Q) Please advise me as to the course for me to pursue with regard to my favorite niece who has married a Catholic. (A) Art thou a good Catholic thyself? If thou art not,

2783-1 Page 7

have ye not missed the way? That is not as of finding fault because of some material manifested way. Is He not God and Lord of the Catholic as well as of the Protestant and of the Jew? Did He not make them all? Does He not love one the same as another? Know ye not that He is not a respecter of persons? Art thou? Then, WHO is at fault?
