Time of Reading 10:40 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Ohio.

1. HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2817].

3. As we find, there is rather the complication of disturbances which prevents the better physical functioning.

4. We find that there may be some relief, and ease brought to the body; aiding it to meet the disturbances better.

5. These arise from those specific disorders that have disturbed the body from time to time.

6. In the present those that may be aided the more are the result of a plethoric condition that exists in the ascending and transverse colon; with the tendency for a prolapsus in the descending colon.

7. The effects of this in the body are to produce an unbalanced condition through the circulation, first; and thus pains (acute at times) throughout the whole left side of the body. These are neuritic in their nature, but arise from this complication of disturbances.

8. Thus the circulation between the heart and the liver is involved, producing a tendency of a thrombose nature.

9. This will require that the body keep quiet, and that there be great precautions in the administering of the treatments first suggested for alleviating - gradually, - the distress in the colon area; by a series of colonics - hydrotherapy treatments.

10. Following each of these colonics there should be the relieving of the tension along the whole of the cerebrospinal system, particularly in the area of the 3rd cervical and the upper cervicals, second, third and 4th dorsals, and those that govern the better elimination - from

the 11th and 12th dorsal and through the lumbar area. This should be done mechanically - that is, osteopathically.

11. Such high colonics, followed by the relieving of the tensions in the spine, we would have done under the supervision of Dr. Smith.

12. The frequency of the colonics will depend upon the manner in which they are administered, and the way the body responds to same. When giving these, have the water body temperature. In the first cleansing water, use about a level teaspoonful of table salt and half a teaspoonful of baking soda dissolved thoroughly in a gallon and a half of water. In the last rinsing solution, do use an antiseptic - such as Glyco-Thymoline; a tablespoonful to the gallon of water.

13. Do not attempt to give too much water, or too great an injection of water, in the beginning; and let these be given at least ten days apart, or two weeks apart, until there is no longer any indication of mucous - that is, these would be kept up, you see. But each time afterwards do have the helpful force from the general osteopathic treatment, to aid the body in preventing the collapse, with the reduction of the pressures through the system.

14. Also we would be precautious as to diet, as to any great activity; keeping quiet; not necessarily lying down all the while, but not too active either physically OR any excitement.

15. In the diet, keep those things that tend to make for better or easier eliminations.

16. These, then, should be the pre-digested foods - a great deal of soups, yet sufficient of regular foods to make for weight; as dry cereals or cooked cereals, or fruits and vegetables of every nature, but little of meats - except beef juices, or mutton or chicken broth or things of such nature. Not much of meats.

17. As we find, with the general precautions, these should make for bettered conditions of this body, [2817].

18. Ready for questions.

19. (Q) Are the hydrotherapy treatments the same as the general osteopathic treatments referred to? (A) The hydrotherapy treatments are the colonics, and the general treatments at such periods. The osteopathic treatments are to follow these. They are entirely different. One is given mechanically with a machine, the other is giving mechanically with the hands - but both might be under the direction or supervision of Dr. Smith.

20. We are through for the present. Two copies to Self (one for Dr. Arthur E. Smith, Dollar Bank
