Time of Reading 3:20 to 3:45 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., N.C.

1. GC: You will have before you the body of [2827], at home, approximately 14 mi. from ..., N.C. (going on ... Rd. from ... to ... then left on ... Road)., mail route R.F.D. #... You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2827].

3. As we find, while conditions are very serious, these need not prove to be fatal. While there are involvements other than the disturbance through the lungs themselves, some of those administrations - especially those that make for the easing of pain - may become the more disturbing factor unless there are measures taken, and unless there are the attempts to keep from using this as a palliative.

4. As is seen already, this causes such conditions through the activity of the alimentary canal as to leave the colon - and the organs that function through those activities of eliminating poisons from the system - in a state of condition requiring the constant exciting of the activity of the eliminating channels.

5. These are causing some disturbance to the organs already, - liver and kidneys.

6. As we find, while these have not as yet become involved where the tubercle itself has settled in same, these are making such conditions that this may easily become involved - if there were a heavy cold or congestion of any nature as to become excessive.

7. While the cough is irritating, we find that this may be helped and gradually relieved, if there will be used the inhalant as we will indicate.

8. To 4 ounces of Pure Grain Alcohol, add - in the order named:

2827-1 Page 2

Oil of Eucalyptus...............25 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp...........10 minims, Rectified Creosote...............3 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin....20 minims, Tolu in Solution................30 minims. Prepare this in a sufficiently large-mouth container that two vents may be made through the cork. Neither of these should enter the solution, but be able to be kept tightly corked when not being used. Shake the solution well and inhale into the throat and lungs; do this at least two to three times a day, oftener if there are the coughing spells. Only inhale the fumes from this, not the solution itself.

9. Also have prepared a container through which there may be inhaled into the lungs the fumes from Apple Brandy. This should be inhaled at least three times a day; not taking the brandy, only the fumes from same.

10. As portions of the diet, have an eggnog made with brandy - not the same brandy as used in the keg, but strong brandy - this sipped, not drunk in gulps but sipped. This may be taken a whole quantity during a day.

11. These as we find will aid in allaying. And when practical, keep from the use of the sedatives for the pain.

12. Do take those oils that carry agar, or agar as an eliminant (as the alkalin Petrolagar); taking at least a tablespoonful of this every evening.

13. Do have, at least in the next thirty days, two or three periods when the colon is cleansed with colonic irrigations. These may be given at home if precautions are taken in doing so; using a colon tube, and a Fountain Syringe - and having the water body-temperature. To half a gallon of the water, put a heaping teaspoonful of table salt and a level teaspoonful of baking soda - dissolving thoroughly. And in the last solution, or rinsing water, put a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline to the gallon of water injected - body temperature, to be sure. Use at least that quantity for the enemas, or colonics. For we must cleanse the colon thoroughly if there would be the relaxing of the necessity for taking the sedatives.

14. Take mostly those foods such as beef juice, wild game, and of such natures. Use little of those vegetables that are of the bean or potato variety; though the soups of these occasionally, if strained, may be a part of the diet.

15. Use plenty of butter, plenty of milk - if this is digestible for the body, will be beneficial.

16. Do these, for at least the next thirty days. Then we would give further instructions.

17. ANY form of massage is helpful, but this should NOT be too severe in the beginning. But a gentle massage of evening when prepared for the evening to rest, and of mornings when the bath is given, will be strengthening - if it is given with any easy or mild form of alcohol rub. This would be especially along the upper portion of the spine and across the hips.

18. Do that for the next thirty days.

19. Ready for questions.

20. (Q) Should present treatment be continued or discontinued? (A) As the tablets are the principal portion, leave these off as much as practical. It will be necessary that these be taken occasionally, else he would be mighty hard to live with; but gradually diminish the quantities of these. For these are taking a hold that will be more severe than the pulmonary disturbance.

21. (Q) Should anything else, other than the inhalant suggested, be given for the cough? (A) We have given two forms of inhalants here, see - but these should be sufficient; and especially for the next thirty days.

22. (Q) Any other suggestion to relieve the pain? (A) As given, there will be necessitated at times the use of the tablets, but leave them off - skip them at times, and gradually get away from these if practical. Do these for the next thirty days, and we will give further instructions.

23. We are through for the present. Two copies to Wife (one for Mrs. Gimbert, to help interpret) Copy to Ass'n file (See two drawings [which were enclosed] to illustrate the two types of inhalants needed. See directions [which were enclosed] for preparing Beef Juice. Let us know when the treatments have been followed for thirty days, so we can make an appointment for a Check Physical Reading to give further instructions. See directions to druggist [which were enclosed] for bottle inhalant.) .)
