This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of February, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2902], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by his wife''s brother, Dr. [2772].

Born April 29, 1908, in New York City. Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., N.Y.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - " - '43 - '42 - changes - '41 - preparations, mental changes - '40 - '37 - anxieties on the part of others regarding the entity - " etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2902].

4. This entity is a Uranian, also an Atlantean. It may make a record in this experience for weal or woe. An extremist; double-minded; high ideals; a good arguer; - loves to hear self speak, but desires most that this be to individuals rather than to groups or to many.

5. An unusual personality; one that may bring a great deal of comfort to many or cause a great anxiety to many.

6. In giving an interpretation of the records as we find them - it would be well for the entity to remember, as it analyzes self from that as may be indicated here as to the urges, the abilities, the faults, the failures, as well as the virtues that we find as a part of the experience: This information is given with the desire and purpose that it be a helpful influence. Thus - as the entity should make its policies - minimize the faults of others, magnify the virtues of all. This the entity is not prone to do. For, oft, whether it is a virtue or a fault, the entity magnifies same.

8. Each entity, each soul, enters a material experience for a purpose. That there is the consciousness, the awareness of self being self, should remind the entity that there is a relationship with the Creative Forces that man terms God.

9. Then, it is not by chance that the entity or soul entered at this time, but because there are not only opportunities but duties and obligations. The purpose is not for self-indulgence or self-aggrandizement, but that the glory of God may be made manifest through the purposeful efforts of the entity.

10. For, the abilities in a material manner far surpass the faults in many ways with this entity. Yet these very facts may become stumblingstones rather than stepping-stones, unless the ideal to which the entity gives credence is adhered to - and the entity is true to self. For, being true to self the entity will not be false to any.

11. Astrologically, we find urges that indicate rather the nature of the entity, in its thoughts or dreams, or the latent abilities that find expression through soul forces.

12. Then there are those urges that find expression through the forces of reality, or physical consciousnesses. The one is termed from that urge from sojourns in that consciousness being absent from materiality. Names are given as these are accredited with certain factors or characteristics in the expression through individuality; as, Mercury indicating the high mental abilities of the entity. Mars indicates the abilities to hate as well as to love. And these give further expression in the Uranian tendency for the extremes to which the entity goes at times, either in the good or bad forces - as may be seen in the use of those things in a material body that may be habit forming; as drink, as smoke, as personal associations. These are well, if they are used and not abused. Each has its part in the experience of an entity; but abused, may be the possession of the entity that would cause self-indulgence.

13. In Jupiter we find the universal consciousness.

14. We find in Venus the nature of companionship, the nature of individuality. All give expression, and find their counterpart in moods of the body from time to time. It may be said that these are individual characteristics of this entity.

15. In the personalities we find these more expressed or manifested fn m those material manifestations. While all of these may not be indicated here, those are given that have the greater influence in the experience of the entity at this particular cycle of its consciousness or awareness of its abilities, latent and manifested.

16. Thus:

17. Before this we find that the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those early settlings in the land; in and about what is now New York - when there were those tradings with the natives and the coalition of groups, the formation of companies or corporations, agreements with those groups in various lands.

18. The entity was a go-between between such groups.

19. Thus the corporate or company advisor or counselor might be a part of the entity's experience; as an advisory counsel, as an attorney, as a lawyer or such, the entity might find an outlet for his abilities in the present. These will of necessity be governed by the ideals of justice for all and an equal understanding as to purposes. For, remember - with what measure ye mete it will be measured to you again. This is as unchangeable as the tides, as the manifestations of the seasons. These are spiritual as well as mental, and they are material in their expression. One may cheat for a while, but it will come back to the entity.

20. In that experience the entity gained, for there were cooperative influences. But with the change of environs, these brought temptations for self-indulgence. Do not let them be repeated in this experience.

21. The name then was Ezra Godspeed, or it was changed to Goodspeed.

22. Before that the entity was in the Roman land, when there were those expansions of that land into other countries.

23. The entity was an emissary, but with same came the comprehending of the needs of groups and individuals to find means, manners and ways not only to preserve but to prepare the products of other lands.

24. Thus the mechanical-mindedness in those things that had to do with the preservation of foods, grains, cereals and things of such natures, became a part of the entity's experience through that period - as Leo Doromo.

25. The entity gained throughout that period; for, from its early experience, as will be seen, there has been the consciousness of the needs for man in the low estate as well as in the high estate to be dependent one upon the other; yet the needs for the trust, the confidence to be established upon a principle or a basis for the betterment of each group. This was the basis upon which the entity applied itself in that period.

26. Thus in many lands, and in various climes. Hence we will find those things having to do with peoples of various groups, various endeavors and activities, will be channels and outlets for the entity's activities in the present

experience.

27. Before that, the entity was in the Promised Land, when there were those divisions made by the leader who entered the Promised Land; when the various choices were made by the individual groups or tribes.

28. The entity was among the tribe of Ephraim that made choices for the establishing of the closer relationships with the leader and those set in authority, as of the elders of that group - and in those various activities to which they were set did the entity bring the bettering for the progress of its group, its people, during that period.

29. Then the name was Amaziah; the entity gained, the entity lost. In the period when the entity set those things for self-activities without the thought of the elders, he brought disturbing influences.

30. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land, when there were those interpretings of the leaders in that land, and the understanding of how that the sons of Belial were making application of the spiritual laws to that of self-aggrandizement.

31. The entity entertained those activities, but was of that group of the sons of the Law of One. While there were those disputations, and those that would carry the records and the laws to the land of Egypt for their preservation, at first the entity held out against this; later came into the Egyptian land, making that first attempt to defy those peoples of the land because of the period of turmoils those peoples had entered.

32. This brought disputations between the leaders of both the Egyptian natives and those who had remained loyal to the King, and those still thinking of seeking the means for the counsel of the Priest Ra-Ta again.

33. The entity was deposed before there had been, or could be, an agreement reached. Later, with the return of the Priest, and after years of being held in check, the entity understood - and began to work with some of those who had been put in authority - being, as it were, subdued in its might and power.

34. Hence in the present there is found that after effect in how BADLY the entity takes disappointment, in any phase of that it undertakes; and the tendency even to resort to measures that even the entity itself might sometimes question.

35. Thus may the entity take warnings as to self, as to the double-mindedness, and the double abilities. And, as indicated, the entity has the opportunity in the present to make a spiritual, a mental, a material contribution to the

welfare of his brethren. He also has the opportunity to make a contribution that may become detrimental to the welfare of himself, his brethren; though materially for a time succeeding.

36. Whom will ye serve?

37. Remember the admonition as ye heard in that land as Amaziah - determine within self, "Let others do as they may, but as for me and my house, WE will serve the living God."

38. In the field of law - as an intermediary for groups, organizations or corporations - using those abilities of the mechanical nature - either of these channels may offer the entity means for success. But keep in that position of being able to use them both, no matter which choice is made.

39. Ready for questions.

40. (Q) During my working years I have practiced law, been in the industrial display business, and operated a wholesale fur business. I have never felt that I was doing the thing that would give my life its fullest meaning. What are my talents and what vocation shall I follow to achieve the greatest spiritual and material satisfaction? (A) As indicated - as a counselor to groups - as those that would aid in assisting the mechanical-mindedness, - would be the channels best for the expression of the abilities, as may be seen from the manner in which the entity has applied self in the material sojourns.

41. (Q) I am now employed in a defense plant as a machinist. I feel my fullest abilities are not being utilized. Should I leave this position and if so what sort of employment shall I seek? (A) We would not leave it in the present, but through the duration hold to same. But apply self as to corporation law, in the reading, in the study, and in its application.

42. (Q) Have I ever known my wife in any previous incarnation? (A) In the experience before this, as well as in Egypt.

43. (Q) Have I ever known the child that is to be born to us in February in any previous incarnation? (A) This will depend upon the soul that enters there.

44. (Q) Is the expected child a boy or girl? (A) This has nothing to do with the entity in the present or its life, save as satisfaction of a mental nature. What seek ye? Gratifying of self, or service of God? Who is the author of thy faith?

45. (Q) I expect to be inducted into the army on March 1st. I feel I have talents that make a better ordinance man of me than a soldier, and that I can better serve my country in this capacity than as a soldier. Should I seek to be

deferred and if so how should I accomplish this? (A) That manner of work in the service may make for deferment, if this is sought. But if there is the conviction within self that the entity would serve its country, its fellow man, its ideals, in the ordinance department of the army, then it would be better to join for such activity. But if it is merely to escape self, beware.

46. (Q) If I am inducted into the army in March how will this affect my wife and the child that is to be born to us in February? (A) This depends, as indicated. There can be the deferment on account of the present type of work, if it is sought. If there is induction, better to choose before induction.

47. (Q) How will this affect my child? (A) We haven't the child as related to the self in this connection.

48. (Q) If I am inducted, how shall I go about getting the most out of the experience in furtherance of my life's work? (A) You'll get out what you put in, with interest! For each entity - as is the divine law - is worthy of the effort it puts forth.
