Time of Reading 10:55 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Calif.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body.

3. As we find, there are disturbing conditions; and these may be materially aided. We find that these arise from what were minor injuries at the time to the cerebrospinal system; so that segments along the spine were so jammed as to prevent the normal functioning of impulses through the coordinating of sensory system and the central nervous system.

4. This in the present has gradually grown to be of such natures as to cause a pressure in the brain reflexes, and a character of lesion is forming there.

5. As to whether this may respond in its entirety will depend not only upon the correcting of the disturbance but upon the response the body and mind may make to those administrations.

6. The rest of the general body-force and mind reactions we find good.

7. These conditions exist, we find, in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cervical, in the 9th dorsal, and in the lumbar axis. These reactions to the locomotory centers, from which these reflexes react to the superficial circulation and to the impulses of the nerve forces, cause the arm and the lower limb - upon the opposite side from where the lesions exist in the spine - to become lacking in impulse for control by the voluntary nerve centers.

8. As we find, if there is to be an adjustment, there will be required rather a series of treatments - and all of the corrections should not be attempted at once. But through mechanical means, preferably osteopathically, we would make adjustments in the cervical, in the dorsal, and the lumbar

area. It will be found that these can be much more easily made if there is first the relaxing of the body with wet heat, as of heavy toweling wrung out of hot water and applied to the areas just before the adjustments are attempted.

9. First we would have a series of, say, twelve adjustments - osteopathically given. DO NOT attempt to make ADJUSTMENTS until at least six or eight treatments have been given to relax the body.

10. After the twelfth treatment, then leave these off a period of some two or three weeks.

11. Then have another series, about twice each week, for twelve to fifteen adjustments.

12. And we should find a great change not only in the ability of the body to use self but in the retarding and correcting of the disturbance growing towards, more and more, that of atrophy in nerve plexus and centers.

13. Also daily, even throughout the period of rest from the osteopathic treatments, we would massage the body with Peanut Oil, when ready to retire. Massage from the base of the brain to the end of the spine. We find this will aid, and will contribute to the abilities of the osteopathic corrective measures to have greater benefits. In giving the massage there should not be the attempt to make any adjustments, but pouring the oil in an open container - as a saucer - dip the fingers in same and gently massage, in a rotary motion (and rather deep), from the base of brain to the end of the spine. Take at least thirty minutes or more to do this thoroughly - prayerfully, helpfully; and we will find responses.

14. As to the attitude, mentally, spiritually:

15. Know that all healing is from the arousing of the divine within each cell of the body. The attitudes that have been held are helpful, but these conditions are from misplacements of energies. Hence just as it would be necessary to set a broken bone, so it is necessary here to adjust the segments of the spine in such a manner as to release energies and to bring the better normal reactions through the body.

16. After the second series of the osteopathic adjustments, we may then give as to the condition existent in that pressure gradually developing in brain.

17. Ready for questions.

18. (Q) My present brace is very unsatisfactory. Have you any suggestions regarding this? (A) As these treatments progress, this should become less and less necessary, even. But have brace adjusted in the

2964-1 Page 3

present to suit or to meet the needs.

19. (Q) If these directions are followed, is it indicated that I can get complete use of left hand and foot? (A) This, as indicated, depends upon whether there is the ability to replace those injuries in the reflexes in brain.

20. (Q) What produced these injuries in the beginning, and approximately how long ago? (A) They came from the outside - a fall, or the like. Do these things; be persistent, be consistent. EXPECT relief! Keep that in mind. In the application of those things suggested, do it with that purpose - and not merely to see what would happen. For, all good is of one source. USE that thou hast in hand and more may be given, in faith, in hope, in the ability to be of a service to others.

21. We are through for the present. Copy to Mother (two copies; one for the osteopath who makes the corrections) " " Ass'n file (Please let us have the name of the osteopath you choose for this work, and address, so we may put him on our mailing list. If desiring the names of other osteopaths who have had experience with following the Readings, we will gladly furnish them.) .)
